Any thoughts on how I could make some cash throughout the window? Was thinking of getting in Dembele but who to ship out temporarily?

Also, what are yer thoughts on Bertrand. Started 2 of the first 3 games, surely worth a shout?
Bertrand will drive you mad i think, he will be rotated too much. Think you will have to find a better budget midfielder instead of Kacaniklic too, he was a good option but the arrival of Kieran Richardson will seriously jeopardise his playing time.

Team below, wildcard played already and I've already used my transfer this week, transferred our Silva for Carzola.

    Vorm.
    McCartney, Simpson, Bertrand.
    Kagawa, Carzola, Michu, Hazzard.
    Torres, Petric, RVP.
    Subs; Cerny, Barnett, Briggs, Kacaniklic

Sorry to say but I think you are in a spot of bother with this team. Quite possible that some weeks Simpson will be your only defender playing. Also a good chance berbatov will play ahead of petric and kacaniklic not a guaranteed starter. Cant see Kagawa starting every week either which is all the more reason to have cheap subs that will definetly play. I would change bertrand and briggs as your next two transfers.

Some good points there, thanks. I think I'll hold on to Bertrand though he's played well in the 2 games he's started so far and with Chelsea's injuries to their defenders at the moment I think he'll get a good run of games.
Briggs is defo gone next FT I have, I also think that Kagawa will start most games but I will be keeping a close eye on him with a view to swap him for Valencia or Nani (performances dependent).
Am not sure about McCartney he'll be the next on my transfer hitlist after I get Briggs out. I will probably keep Kacaniklic, he's sure to score points and is a good man to have as a first sub.

good shout on taylor. it's either sterling or kacaniklic, neither will get much time in my team anyway as they'll be benched every week

Nice team but as said already by dahat i would have Steven Taylor instead of Coloccini and Aaron Hughes of Fulham instead of Wilson because you already have Stoke cover in Begovic.

the reason for the stoke defender is for rotation purposes. stoke WH rotate perfectly same with sunderland newcastle. fulham don't rotate too well with WH unfortunately

I understand what you are saying but what i ment was having a GK and defender from the same team is a bit risky, 1 goal and both their clean sheet points are gone.

Works both ways though. Double the risk, double the reward!

Have 0.4 in the bank and don't really know how to fix the damage.

The bench may as well not be there.

    Any pointers?

Definitely get rid of Bale - maybe for Santi Corzola?

cant see too much wrong with your bench bar cerny they are all playing at the moment. If noble scored a peno last week every wildcard team this week would have him and be saying hes a must have as a cheap midfielder. As you have swansea cover I would change your two keepers to maybe begovic jaaskelinen who u could rotate it would also give you .5 to upgrade one of your other defenders to a 4.5 defender.

I haven't been online too often lately, and am stuck with this team. I already took a 4 point hit this week, but have my wild card if I want to cancel it out and make more transfers. I've decided I will not be spending so much on Van Persie.

I have 4.1m in the bank and the team value is 98.7.

    This is my wilcard team:

    Jussi
    Walker Clark Cuellar

    Michu Sterling Hazard Cazorla

    Tevez RVP Torres

Bench: Davis (GK Sou) Guthrie, Fonte, Clyne

That's my budget fully extended and I realise I am heavily weighted in midfield and attack, and have three Southampton defenders.

    Any opinions?

I think your Sterling/Torres combination could be well outscored by two mid range options but no harm in taking a chance.

Change Torres to Pog and use the funds saved to bring in Yaya or Kagawa. Lessen your reliance on Southampton by bringing in McCartney for Fonte and a Reading defender for Clyne. Alternatively Swap Davies for Federici

best move would be silva to hazzard after belgiums match ?

So after some wheeling and dealing its getting closer to the time when us wildcarders need to finalise their teams.

First draft is below - not massively happy about having Pog in but think he's underrated and a steal at 4.9m. My defence is a bit expensive too...

    2lid9xx.jpg

I think I'm set on my goalkeepers, De Gea is too expensive and wasn't producing the goods, and the two I have now rotate well.

McAuley has got off to a cracking start and is well capable of scoring. Over his career hes banged in almost 30 goals which isn't bad for a defender. West Brom haven't conceded yet and while I don't expect this to continue in the same vein, they have a nice run of fixtures coming up so no reason why it can't.

Rafael I wasn't sure about, but as United's defensive woes continue I think I'll stick with him. He's well capable of scoring, could have had a hat-trick against Fulham.

BAE is an expensive gamble at 6.5m, and I haven't actually brought him in yet. I loved having him last season and think his points haul should improve going forward. I expect Spurs to tighten up at the back, and like all my defenders he's a definite goal threat.

Clark was almost given the boot after his red card, and then pops up for a goal for me! I watched that game and he gets forward for corners a lot... I can see him grabbing another goal or two if he keeps his place. Already has 5 goals for Villa and a nice differential at 4.4m.

Ivanovich is another expensive gamble - Chelsea have started strong but 6.6m is a LOT to spend on a defender. I originally brought him in to make 0.1 profit but as Cole may not play I may now need to hold on to him.

So as always I'm looking for defenders that get forward, and are likely to pop up with the odd goal. Jenkinson is too much of a risk to keep, I made 0.1 on buying him so happy enough with that.

My midfield is a no brainer really, Hazard, Michu and Cazorla are must haves IMO. Nolan is the best at 6m, and Sterling has cracking potential at 4.5m, although he may spend some time on my bench until he starts actually producing. Kacaniklic was my pre-season 4.5 MF pick but his gametime is nowhere near guaranteed now. I was wary of holding on to Kagawa and his injury has forced my hand.

Leaving me with the 'must have' forwards of RVP + Tevez.... and Pog. If I downgrade Ivanovich or BAE I think the money will go on upgrading Pog.

McAuley is 32 and has 3 EPL goals, however he is part of a decent defence so far in the league and is worth a punt as your 5m defender

@roryc i'd get in either Lambert or Fletcher for the Pog, downgrading either Ivanovic or BAE. Otherwise i really like the look of your team, in fact your midfield lineup is exactly the same as i see mine, a few weeks and a few transfers down the road

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,674 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

yup royc...that is my exact midfield right now.

    they're also my keepers.

4 of my defenders are the same, as are 2 of the strikers.

    ridiculous!

Im just going on the upcoming fixtures, Arsenal after Southampton have City and Chelsea and with Koscielny back, he might not be guaranted the start a 100%. West Brom have a decent run of fixtures and should have a decent chance of keeping clean sheets. Although I have Jenkison mysel I will be shipping him out soon and replacing him with a 4.5m defender as I've chosen to ivest the majority of my money in mid and att.

Rory C, we have 7 of the same players also, a lot of wc have been used over the international break id assume.

I'm finding it hard to leave Torres out of my team. Chelsea are the best team I've seen this season (after the mighty Swansea, of course), and as their lone-striker, he's gonna get goals.

So I'm basically going back to my old roots of a cheap back 7 and 3 "big" midfielders to accomodate him and RVP alongside the most ridiculously priced player in the game: Tevez.

The 0.7 in the bank is reserved for improving on Sterling or Guthrie, who I intend on rotating each week. I would also like to save 1.1m by switching Rangel to Davies, but with the new guy signed at LB for Swansea, I'll wait to see how much he ends up being.

    ngFcL.png
    Jaas / Begovic
    Rafael / Jenkinson / Demel / Hughes / Rangel
    Hazard / Cazorla / Sterling / Michu / Guthrie
Torres / Tevez / van Persie

    0.7m remaining

9 of the same players, same strikeforce.

    Jassi

    Clark, Gorkss, Jenkinson

    Hazard, Michu, Cazola, YaYa

    Torres, RVP, Tevez

    Davies, Guthrie, Clyne

I'm hardly in a position to be critical since we have so many similar players, but aren't you a little afraid of having perhaps too weak a defence? Can't see Gorkss or Clyne providing much in way of clean sheets, then Davies (assuming he's the one from Swansea that I wanted myself) probably won't play with the new signing coming in this week.

In order to have the attacking players I have I had to compromise, I'm not sure of the Swansea stitution yet ,will their latest signing play and has he been added to the game? My wildcard is still active so I have not setteled on my defence yet. I know its poor, very poor infact but I can't justify the high prices for Baines, Kompany, Vermalen etc

played wild card ( did not have Hazard , Michu , Corzola or RVP. Had toure and evez from start) and team now looks like this with 0.1 in bank

    GKS Jussi Jask & Begovic

Def Rangel Cuellar Hangeland Clyne Demmel

Mid Nolan Toure Michu Hazard Corzola

    FWD Tevez RVP Lambert

I am still worried/undecided on few things

Hangeland in defence. He has been good for past few seasons but Fulham have been chronic away from home. Flirting with Ridgewell for same price of 5m
having 3 west ham players also worries me . Happy with Jussi so keeping him. only have Demmell cos he is 4m and plays every week. would Barnett of norwich be better option ?
Strong midfield but have i overdone it ? should i downgrade one and upgrade defender?
happy with tevez and rvp. originally had fletcher brought in but went for cheaper option of Lambert having got rid of Graham.....

I would say that's a smart move! I always like to have 1 strong defender who has potential to get forward and score extra points... but in saying that, so far this season none of the big clubs have been keeping CS besides Arsenal! I have Vertonghen and Zabaleta ATM but will be transferring Zab out next week for a cheaper option and if Vertonghen dosn't do anything this week he will soon follow for either Baines or Vermaelen!

Torres is too expensive if you already have RVP and Tevez. Takes far too much away from the rest of the team IMO.

I agree... would be nice to have the 3 of them in because i can see Torres doing well if he continues his form... still a big "if" IMO for now anyway! The only way i can see him coming into my squad now is to completely sacrifice my defense which i cant justify either! There's plenty of other options for a 3rd striker that will score well over the course of the season!

I've got Graham in at the moment and still plan on holding onto him for another couple of weeks as i can see him finding form with the midfield he has feeding him!

I totally get what you mean, but I don't mean those super-expensive players. I'm thinking more along the lines of 4.5m players from sturdier teams like Fulham, Stoke, and Sunderland that you'd expect to do better than Reading and Southampton.

And nope, the new signing at Swansea hasn't been added yet, which is an annoyance alright. I've heard from a few people that he will play though.

    Managed the RVP, Tevez, Torres....
    Have 0,3 in the bank.
Just an option at the moment.
    On wildcard.

Also option in a week or 2 to downgrade vorm to berkovic and upgrade jenkinson.

    Any opinions.
