advantages of timber frame extension?

Hi,
What's the advantages/disadvantages of having a timber frame extension to a timber frame house as opposed to a block extension?

Like any other system its down to the detail and attention of the build. If ground conditions were poor and access was an issue timber frame maybe a solution. Timber frame construction can also reduce the wet trades associated with the build.

One thing I will say is watch the external finish, if you are building within 1 metre of the site boundary as fire resistance of the construction can become an issue.
