ASAP wedding reception venue needed for next thursday 13th in wexford ASAP

My sister-in-law has been delt a wedding blow her hotel she has booked out for the day of her wedding is telling her she cannot get in there until 3pm when she is getting married @ 3.30. They drop this on her now when she was told she can have an early check-in. she is devestated and now needs a venue with 10 rooms for guests (including family rooms) does anyone know of anywhere.

is she getting married in the hotel? why do the guests need early checkin?

have you tried google for hotels nearby? not sure too many people here would know occupancy availability for all hotels in a particular area.

I also dont understand why she cant have the wedding at 3.30 and check in to the hotel after it.

It would certainly not be strange for the guests and the wedding party to check in to the hotel after the wedding rather than before.

But if they told her she could have early check-in then that's not really on. I'm assuming they want the rooms to get changed, etc, surely the hotel could arrange to have a few rooms clear for them to use?

and also if the bride and guests go elsewhere is she moving hotels for the reception?

will the hotel raise exception to the guests moving hotels and charge appropriately?

will any deposits be lost?

Also what about your music, etc?

If the hotel promised an early check in and are now backing out of that then its a really poor show. However, to try to change your venue, let all of the guests know, see if there is an extra charge for the band to travel to a different hotel, they may need different or additional equipment for the new venue, etc etc would IMHO be more hassle than its worth.
Also if it was a civil ceremony then you have to let the person conducting the ceremony know and make sure the new venue is approved for civil ceremonies.

Wedding is in johnstown castle and hotel is about 45 mins away and she has hairdresser/photographer/video person all coming to the hotel b4 hand, we have checked with the hotel and they only have 1 person staying the night b4, The place is normally €150 per room per night, she has booked the whole 10 rooms and is being charged €3000 for the 10 rooms double what it would normally be, personally I think she is being ripped off then she has the meal which is coming in at€65 a head and then "Midnight Munchies" @ €10 a head and was told she would have a choice of 10 items now being told its Bacon sambo's and thats it, just seems fecked up to me.

Sounds like she forgot to get a contract when making her booking.

Is there any reason the hotel are going back on the deal they've negotiated with her?

Honestly, for the hassle (and expense) that'd be involved in moving locations, she's better off to just check in the night before, chalk it down to experience and warn others about the sharp practices in the htoel.

300 per room on a thursday night? no early checkin for bride? cant get a spare room even when theres only 1 person staying there? 10er for a bacon sandwich with no alternatives?

Somethings not right here.

Cant the hairdresser etc not go to the house beforehand. And why is she paying for all of the rooms in the Hotel, generally they reserve ten rooms for the bridal party but I dont think its up to the Bride to pay for them all. And they can usually notify the hotel a few weeks in advance of the numbers of the rooms so they can release the unused ones if necessary.

Are you sure the bride didnt say she would pay for all of the above and now realises that she shouldnt have done so.

I agree Clint. Id say were not getting a quarter of the story.

who looks to change wedding venue the week beforehand ? I dont know any hotel that would take a wedding booking without a deposit and who knowingly moves venue the week before their wedding forgoring their deposit and contractually probably a lot more and agrees to pay €300 a nigh for rooms generally costing €150

this is all a bit dodgy and unbelievable to me.

I am based in Wexford and work in the wedding business this sounds very strange to me. A hotel that is 45mins away from Johnstown and won't let the bride get ready before the wedding something is not adding up. Why dont you name the area that the hotel is based in

i think i know the name of the hotel that the op is talking about, it seems very strange to me that that this happened as the hotel is well known for the wedding business, i wonder does the bride have a contract? maybe she should sit down and read from start to finish and check that she didnt sign herself in to these things at the start and now just relizing.

on the hotels page it says that if you book it out entirely it is 3000 per night which the bride must have done as there is only ten rooms and that is what she booked, so in effect she must be paying the 3000 for the renting of the whole hotel privately rather than just the rooms??

also it says that some of their menu option are only available on the menus that are €75 euro per head so maybe thats what happened with the midnight munchies thing, perhaps bacon sambos are the option with the €65 per head as the op says it costs .

im getting married myself and made sure to read the whole contract from cover to cover twice as well as my partner doin it because sometimes it can have hidden extras.

that said i hope the bride sorts things out cause no one should have that kinda stress on there week of there wedding and good luck to her!

sorry in the above comment i said that the hotels page has them things on it but i was looking on weddings online page for the hotel but im sure if they have it up so does the hotel own page if it is the one the op is refering to

If it's the place I'm thinking of too then it's a bit ironic that they have a picture of a bride getting ready for her wedding in their brochure!
Hopefully they will have had things sorted out by now - it has to be a misunderstanding!
