I do understand that but I just think or would like to think we could do better at the same time. He a decent player but not a class player think we should be aiming higher.

Don't think we'll get two marquee signings M'vila would be the one i'd say if it happens.

Latest from the twitter bs monitor is that we are in for Remy, Tiote Cabaye and Essien. Shame we didn't beat Chelsea to his signature when he left Lyon.

De Jong off to Milan it seems. He could do a job for us surely.

Maybe, never liked him though - too much of a thug so I'm glad he's not coming our way.

Apparently the Rennes have told the BBC that M'Vila won't be joining an EPL club before the window closes. Time for Wenger to make a sneaky low-ball bid

EDIT - and apparently Chamakh is off to Malaga - good luck to him sorry it didn't work out.

Its awfully quiet in here think its the calm before the storm :D, everyone waiting on tenderhooks to see what going to happen but I do think one way or another it wil be hectic tomorrow. Fingers crossed for the good.

Hopefully the player were apparently after in France is Yoann Gourcuff, he would be quality with us especially alongside Cazorla

Heard Spurs were in for Remy, I'd love if it were true that we were in for him. Can do a job LW as well as up top, exactly what we need. I'd take Cabaye before Tiote off Newcastle. Essien is finished and it says volumes that Chelsea are open to selling him; quality player in his day but his game depended on his explosive dynamic ability to be everywhere on the pitch and injuries have robbed him of that.

We won't be signing Gourcuff this window, he's out for ~2 months after an injury with Lyon in the first or second Ligue 1 game of the season.

Amazing to think after our start to the summer in terms of getting business done the success of failure of this window depends on what happens tomorrow for most fans. It really is like groundhog day every Summer window and every season for us at this stage. Lessons clearly aren't being learned. :(

In fairness if we did get Tiote id be dleighted hes exactly what we need I think but sure wait and see.

I dont really see why we should go for Tiote when we've a very similar player in Frimpong, i'd rather see him given a shot instead of us blowing 20 million on Tiote. He was having a great game v Liverpool last season before he got sent off.

    Coventry in the league cup...

Disappointed with how the transfer window has gone after the early promise. Hopefully we get a least one in tomorrow.

Remy, Cabaye and a versatile defender of some description would be the dream deadline day for me.

Essien has all the hallmarks of another Silvestre. I just wouldnt be enthused by it at all unless he drinks from the fountain of youth after signing for us. Was a big fan of him in his prime though. 4-5 years ago there is no way on earth Mikel would get a game over him.

Good call on Felaini. I'll text my everton mate now about it. He'll cry. :pac:

edit: Felaini plus Coleman for a combined €20million sounds plausible.

Bah, he wants 35million for Felaini on his own.

I wouldn't worry about the silence lads. It's just the way Wenger likes to do business, quietly and behind closed doors. It was the same last season until suddenly we had gotten Yossi and Arteta from out of nowhere. I have a gut feeling we will get Affelay on loan from Barcelona and one other player on a permanent deal too.

Also, why are people seemingly upset that Spurs got Dembelé? Can any Gooners honestly say they were hoping we'd sign Dembelé in this transfer window before the Spurs news broke or is it just a case of wanting the toy the other kid has?

I reckon Wenger will announce Neymar, half an hour before close of business tomorrow. That or Ronaldinho.

    :pac:

Essien rumours flying now ,"the times" - holy lantern, not exactly a marquee signing:cool:

I will actually be quite embarrassed if we sign Essien.

Would love to see us make a move for Micah Richards. City look close to signing Maicon, and Richards is a boyhood Arsenal fan. Don't think City would let us have him but I think he's a cracking player and he must be frustrated now with the possible situation of Maicon joining.

Fully agree if all the DM we are after are too expensive just give coq the role instead of a crock, mikel is keeping him out of the Chelsea team for god sake

Signing Essien is just complete nonsense.

    What happened to 'super quality'?

Once again, it appears we haven't got our sh1t sorted.

This is just bad management and business, to be quite frank.

Here's a great quote on Essien
Expect Essien to be hobbling on crutches through the doors of the Emirates at 23:55 which will be exactly five minutes after Arsène Wenger has blown the dust off his fax machine.

Can't wait to get this fecking day over now.

I see Swansea are closing in on Jerson Cabral from Feyenoord. A great young talent and first team starter, and something we could've bolstered our wings with for a cheap price. I think they're going to be my second team for the season!

    Also, Javier Saviola to Malaga!

RE Essien, if he's signed I don't expect him to play in the same role as he did with Chelski. He'll be a deeper player with Arteta & Cazorla playing higher, imo. We could do better, but I'd like to see last year's comments when we signed Benayoun.

Benny got us out of a hole. I accepted (and grew to love) Benny on the basis that it was a short term fix to difficult circumstances (losing Cesc and sh1thead) pre deadline day.

I presumed we wouldn't be repeating this nonsense. I presumed we would get our business done in an orderly fashio to have a settled team going into the season.

Thus far, we've dropepd 4 points, have liverpool in Anfield at the weekend, don't have a settled team, and are running around the supermarket for soiled goods on deadline day.

    Its absolute bollix.

Swansea have made some really good signings.

    Lose Scott Sinclair?

    Replacement lined up immediately.

Weird behaviour. It will never catch on.

I agree with you. I think the club are more presumptuous than yourself though. It should be more of an expectation to have a full squad signed and ready, especially for this weekend's fixture.

Though I think you're being a little pessimistic over this weekend's game. My biggest worry this weekend is goalkeeping, everything else we should be OK for. Liverpool are pretty much in the same spot of bother as ourselves and are showing gaps left, right, & centre. We played against two teams that pretty much parked the bus and crept in attack, this weekend will be different. Liverpool are going to want to attack first, as they normally do. Kill the game early and then do what they normally do, give us space & opportunities to win back the game. Last year, we pretty much had nothing to win the game but this time around, it's going to be a different game from us.

Defensively, I think we're pretty sound. Podolski, last week showed he can defend as much as attack, and that's going to be a defining part of this weekend. Midfield, well we should have more space for creativity, but without a DM and Arteta holding deep, we're going to be lacking a fair bit. Cazorla is going to be creating chances and everyone else needs to be on form.

This weekend we'll actually get to see how our current crop (which is at a higher standard than this time last year) play together in a situation that doesn't involve a troll faced man creasing every player in site, we have space in midfield & on the wings, more opportunity to counter attack.

We're lacking pace in defence, and in a situation of Suarez V. Mert, I want the best keeper we have to stop what comes next.
