Would Skrtel playing see Coates play on the weekend?

Tried to learn German but found it too difficult to progress when I couldn't speak or hear it every day. Love the language though.

Oddly enough I've found it easy to pick up bits and pieces of German from watching and listening to it, esp Rammstein. Awesome band too ( though when you figure what some of their songs mean they are a bit ****ed up).

Might be just to get Skrtel's confidence up again.

Sometimes with cruciate ligament injuries the ligament pulls off the thigh bone itself so if this happened to Lucas originally last season he may well still have some issues in that region.

There's also the issue that the player can spend so much time strengthening the injured muscle during rehabilitation without focusing on strengthening the surrounding muscles.

I'd like to see that actually for the most part.

I don't know if that's how they will line out, was my own interpretation apart from Downing is going to play left back. (Morgan starting and Downing at left back is from a very good source)

    Good question.

Agger is back so he's back in for certain. Maybe Rodgers wants to see an Agger/Coates partnership in action.

Would be good to see him there, I dont think he has the bottle to be n attacking winger anymore.

And seeing as he can't actually beat players, overlapping and running into space and delivering at his leisure might suit him better.

If he did, vs Hearts would be the game to try it

Agreed, I definitely think he'd do a job there, where the pressure is off so to speak.

This seems to end the Afellay talk if there was any.

    Rumoured team for tomorrow.

    Carragher
    Downing

    Allen----Henderson

    Gerrard

    Shelvey
    Morgan
    Suarez

    Bit too strong IMO.

Gerrard doesn't need to play these games.

I don't think goal.com have ended speculation about anything ever. Situation seems the same as yesterday Schalke, ourselves and Tottenham are all viable options and it's up to the player to choose.

I thought wonderfullife was on a windup when I first read it. Actually I'm still not sure.

relax! all i am saying is SOME players become injury prone after a massive injury in their early 20s. That's all.... none of us can predict how it will go but early signs are mixed. One long lay-off followed by another = very common. It all depends on the next injury and how long that is for. But the likes of Anderton, Kieron Dyer, Michael Essien etc all followed a major injury with years of injury problems. To say it's a "wind-up" to suggest this is possible is not fair! and i said fingers crossed it's not the case!

Downing's defensive positioning would be the only worry for me. I suppose trying him out there in the Europa League and bringing him on when chasing a game will develop this and give us a nice 2nd option.

I mentioned it a few weeks back how United often push Valencia to RB when chasing a game and I thought that Downing could well do a similar role for us. Definitely more comfortable on the ball than Enrique, who quite often makes me feel awkward just by looking at him in possession tbh.

    Liverpool FC Supporters' Committee
All of us involved with the Liverpool FC Supporters Committee would like to pass on our sincere condolences to the family & friends of one of our young reds Graham O'Connell who sadly collapsed and died whilst playing football with friends on Monday. Graham was due to travel to Anfield on Sunday for the Arsenal game.

We have received a number of emails from well wishers expressing a desire for LFC to make an announcement or put his name on the scoreboard tomorrow night. Club officials have informed us that is not possible for LFC to use the scoreboard but Brendan Rodgers will be writing a personal letter to Graham's family & the club will be in contact with them soon.

    R.I.P. Graham O'Connell

So heading over to Anfield in the next few months for the villa match. Will probably be a 4pm Kick off on the Sunday if we win tommorrow. So what's the chances I would be able to make the 7.45pm flight back to Dublin from John Lennon if kick off is at 4????

Maybe but it's generally recommended before you actually have the operation you build up the muscles surrounding the knee to allow for easier recovery post op. That's what I was told by a knee specialist anyway!

After the flip-flopping involved in the Sahin deal, I'm not getting my hopes up at all. I actually can't wait until the transfer window closes. At the very least, the last hour is good craic on SSN!

    From The Telegraph
Ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League qualifier with Hearts, Rodgers has made it clear he hopes those players who know they have little prospect of featuring in his line-up will move on. If they do not leave, Rodgers says he will be unable to freshen up the squad.

“The reality is, financially, we need to repair, so the players being linked for the money mentioned I don’t have the ability to sign in this window,” he said.

“Unfortunately, it is going to take more than one window. It is an incredible club and even though you want to move players on, because of wages and other factors they are not going to just walk out the door. I’m precise with my information so they know where they stand.

“Ultimately, it comes down to what your objective is as a player. I can only be straight. Does the player want to play football? I’ve made it clear I have a one to 11, cover players and development players.”

Asked specifically if Carroll will still be at Liverpool by the weekend, Rodgers said: “It’s still too early to say. Andy has been a cover player for us and has been excellent in terms of his attitude and acceptance of where he is at, but as a football club - and I’m talking generically here - I don’t think we are in a position to have £35 million players as third-choice strikers, or wingers who are on £5-6 million a year.”

I lost my son in February to a brain tumor. He was my best friend and although he wasn't really interested in football (he was only 3), I'm sure he would have been a Liverpool supporter although there was some serious competition from the mrs. who is a Man U supporter.

The point I'm making is i can understand the devastation that young Grahams parents and family are going through, their lives are changed forever. Its really nice to see the club he loves acknowledge it formally. YNWA young man. RIP

Could also have been a reference to why Kuyt and Maxi were left go?
