Considering that it's American-ised, it's not bad. I look forward to seeing some of the behind the scenes stuff.

But it's not meant for us. Imagine what an American sports fan would think of some of the GAA ads in the lead up to the Championship? Twee, diddly-eye, we are all giants nonsense...

Walcott is in the final year of his contract is he not?

Would mean that in just over four months the player could start talking to other clubs with regards a move for nowt next summer.

Between him doing GAA stuff and him and Magee (I think) doing boxing commentary over here in Ireland, anyone outside of Ireland really has to be thinking that the Irish are a bunch of muck savages.

I'll be honest - I thought of you when I saw the news last night.

We got Allen for the same money - let's see which club got the better deal.

Fairly equal in my mind tbh. Yeah 15m was overpaying for Allen, but equally, 15m for Dembele in his last year of his contract is also overpaying imo.

    Allen 3 years younger also.

I really thought Dembele would end up at United. No idea what Ferguson is thinking with regards to his midfield for the coming season. I could only laugh at the comments after they signed RVP that during the 99 season that he had the four best strikers in Europe. Have you forgotten that you also had Scholes, Beckham, Keane and Butt as central midfielders? Oh well not really a topic for this thread.

Brendan Rodgers today confirmed that Nuri Sahin will play no part in Thursday night's Europa League play-off second leg at Anfield against Hearts.

The Turkey international was signed on a year-long loan deal on Saturday but has not been registered in time to be eligible for selection in the manager's squad for tomorrow's clash.

However, Rodgers admitted he will assess the player in training over the coming days and judge whether Sahin can play some part in Sunday's Barclays Premier League showdown against Arsenal.

"He won't be involved tomorrow night because his registration isn't through," said Rodgers. "We'll assess the player over the next few days and I'm sure he'll be involved in the squad at the weekend."

Meanwhile Rodgers was asked about the possibility of players leaving the club before the close of the transfer window.

"We've had a number of enquiries about some of the players," he said. "I've been open and upfront with all our players. I think you have seen from Sunday's game that the spirit was very strong in the group but the reality is, players want to play.

"Everyone knows where they stand at the moment and over the next few days, one or two of them have decisions to make about whether they want to be a squad player or whether they want to play regular football somewhere else. And they will be some of the decisions we will make."

Asked about Charlie Adam's future, the manager said: "Charlie's a very good player. He'll be a pivotal part of the Scottish national team going forward. He's a terrific player with a good left foot, who will score goals and I'm sure he'll do very well for Scotland."

Asked about the prospect of Danny Wilson going out on loan, the manager replied: "He's a young player that needs to play. I spoke to Danny very early on, when I came in here.

"He's 20 years of age, so he needs to play football. There's no point in him sitting about and not getting games. He obviously went out to Blackpool and didn't play so much, so I think that will be the aim for Danny - to get out and get some games and see what comes up in the next couple of days."

Rodgers added that he will look to tie up one or two pieces of business before the transfer market closes at 11pm BST on Friday night.

"I don't think we will be doing too much (business)," he insisted. "That's the reality of it. There are maybe one or two things that we can do and hopefully most of that will be done over the next couple of days - in terms of lining it up.

"Obviously I'm sure I will still be busy tomorrow but in terms of the game, my focus will be purely on the game. Then we've got another day or so after that so we'll take what comes from that."

    Coming this fall...

"Brendan Rodgers was just an ordinary football manager until one day...BERPA-TEE-DERP....his life was changed forever......and now.....DERP-DE-DERP...he's about to find out that fancy football....DERPY-DOO...isn't nearly as important as net-spend-ADERP"

My point was the options that were available that season in CM if needed. I just can't get my head around how poor the options look from the outside now yet he still has decided not to address them. Wrong thread to get into this discussion.

Spearing and Adam must be the outgoings he's referring to. I'm not going to second guess the incomings, but I can't see a big one...

Yeah I agree. Possibility of Carroll to Newcastle maybe but they'd want to have someone lined up in his place or else we could end up with a deadline signing of....Andy Carroll from Newcastle again :P

You have to laugh at Rodgers being so positive about Adam's future . . . for Scotland

Dembele, Sigurdsson and Van der Vaart are all going to want to play the same position. One will have to drop deeper and imo will not be as effective as Modric was there. I think Spurs are slightly weaker this season for sure (barring more signings)

Sandro, potentially Moutinho and Dembele will be first choice midfield id imagine

Or you could watch it (it's on BBC Sport). ;)

Basically Savage saying he forced his move from Birmingham to Blackburn, to the point where 1500 fans showed up as a Brum reserve game to abuse him. He's no longer welcome there!

And with Didi, he's signed for Bolton, then got an offer from City, and had to tell Big Sam that he wanted to go there (a few days after signing). Apparently, Sam wasn't pleased. And City paid 400K for a free transfer, to Bolton!
