Too late. I expect him to be announced as a Spurs player before I go for lunch.

A late bid wouldn't surprise me.

Offered Mick Phelan and some Ralph Milne DNA in exchange.

Hi lads , hearing from mate in manchester that utd have put a bid in for dembele...anyone hear this ...?

Your mate is right. But the bid was nearly two weeks ago and it was laughable by all accounts.
    Think this ship has sailed.

Speaking of Powell, bit surprising not to see him involved even in squads so far, though i know it is early days.

i assume we wont see him until first league cup game.

Doesn't he play a similar role to Kagawa? If so no chance of a look in this season for league and european games I reckon.

Barring an injury crisis in midfield I think that will be the case.

He does yes but Fergie did state they want to develop him for a role further back than Kagawa as they think that is his best position long term. The player agrees and so does his former coach Dario Gradi.

uniteds interest in Dembele has nothing to do with Saturday, he has been tracked by the club all summer and has been a big topic of debate on here for months now, alot of people saying he is good enough/not good enough. i even remember there was talk about him before the euros when Belgium were playing England at Wembley, so its not just a saturday thing.

the only difference now is that since everybody said how good he was against us, suddently everybody wants him now and they know everything about him and always wanted him bla bla bla.

one thing that is bugging me though, ive seen a few smart comments based on people saying that he played well against us so we should sign him. if he has shown up our midfield in a game that really mattered, is there a bigger endorsement for him to play for us?

Cantona and Ronaldo were signed on the back of just how good they were in one game against us, as the players were raving about him afterwards. indeed, the inspiration for the Cantona phonecall came after Bruce and Pally had a conversation in the bathtube after they marked him.

so it worked for them, but its not allowed to sign players who not only played against us, but we have been tracking for months. some lads really need to jump off their high horse.

I think Cantona was signed when Leeds manager/owner called ManUtd to enquire about Irwin and then we just enquired about Cantona. They said he is available and we wasted no time.

Also Ronaldo, players were raving about him but the deal was done and SAF told the players that Ronaldo is joining us (heard this story from some player's interview).

    Berba set to join Fiorentina

The Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov flew to Italy on Wednesday to complete a move to the Serie A club Fiorentina, a source close to the Bulgarian has said.

"Fiorentina have agreed personal terms with Dimitar and they'll announce the deal very soon," said the source, who asked not to be identified, adding that the transfer was subject to Berbatov passing a medical.

Berbatov, who became United's most expensive player when he joined from Tottenham in 2008 for £30.75m, had reached an agreement with the Serie A club on a two-year contract with an option for a further year.

The 31-year-old was the Premier League's joint-top scorer in the 2010-11 season with 20 goals but has struggled to hold down a place in Sir Alex Ferguson's starting line-up since and was keen to revive his career in another top European league.

Ferguson made it clear it was probably time for Berbatov, who is Bulgaria's all-time leading scorer with 48 goals, to look for a move when he signed Dutch striker Robin Van Persie from Arsenal.

If the deal is completed, Berbatov will become the fourth Bulgarian in Serie A after defender Nikolay Iliev and strikers Hristo Stoichkov and Valeri Bojinov, who played for Fiorentina between 2005 and 2007.

The fee is believed to be about £4 Million.

    Although

lads fergie said business is done and that means 0 signings by friday bar maybe some 17 or 18 yo who wont be near the squad for a couple of years. i can remember him saying this in the last 3-5 summer transfer windows and still on forums people say we are linked with a late bid for this player and that player and the papers say this player is on the verge and when it doesnt happen after the closing of the window the abuse hurled in SAF direction and tantrums thrown are ridiculous. believing we are gonna make one last signing that will solve all our "problems" is just setting yourself up for disappointment so do yourselves a favour and stop thinking we are gonna and if im wrong then you will be pleasantly surprised but if i'm not then at least you have not built up the thought that we actually are gonna make one more deal. im happy with our dealings so far and honestly think we will be fine for the season with the squad we have. yes we have had two shaky game start but this happens nearly every season. city have not had the best of starts and chelsea played wigan and reading and a newcastle team which had played in europe less than 48 hours before 2 years ago they had a great start beating teams for fun and then threw it all away

Luke Giverin and Gyliano Van Velzen are off to Royal Antwerp for the rest of the season.

It's good to see that partnership still going.

Really is a shame that Berba didn't work out.
Extremely gifted footballer and I wish him well if his move to Fiorentina goes through.

The turn against West Ham will stay with me.

James Lawton wrote that (in his opinion) SAF's patience snapped at the weekend and dropped Rooney, that Rooney needs to adapt and change himself. The fact Rooney didn't start and that when he didn't start in January United came out and denied Rooney was moving means this time its more severe.

but ignored that United had played a tough game on Monday night, then had to play on Saturday and that Rooney came on after an hour.

I have a strong dislike for these commentators who see a few things and pass their opinion off as reality and factual but ignore obvious things like the turn around between games or the lack of a real pattern to back up their idea's.

I could hold his opinion in some regard if Rooney was after being benched for a few games not just one.

    Twat.

sorry, it just annoyed me! Rant over.

Undoubtedly the highlught. Made me a happy man that day. Sad it didnt really work out but he was a likeable and professional fellow who will thrive in the more sedate cobfines of Serie A.

    That............ overhead...........

Has been my favourite player for years now, and I'll still follow him in Italy, tremendous player, gutted it didn't work out.

But the class, the quality, the 20+ goals to pull us over the finish line and the Liverpool hattrick make him worth it in my view :)

That reaction to his overhead kick, havn't had that sorta reaction to a goal in a long long time.

Berbs was treated disgracefully by Ferguson, would love if he had stayed in the premier league so we could see more of his magic. A player with a touch of class if there ever was one.

No he wasn't. It just didn't work out. It happens

Berbatov flattered to deceive, slowed our play up too much, even the twenty goals season he had, he still went 10 games without scoring, and scored most of those goals in about 6 or 7 matches against weaker opposition, fantastic talent but just never had the heart and energy for United.
