Dempsey, Walcott and a striker would be a decent end to the window in fairness!

Doubt we'd get all three. I'd be very happy with ONE of Dempsey, Walcott, Affelay, and a striker.

Walcott is going to City .
They obviously abandoned the Scott Sinclair idea when they heard he rejected a new contract.

But feck me Arsenals tight wage structure is causing a haemorrhage of players which I find disgusting from the players point of view, but at the end of the day they are human.

Can't be true, ask any United fan, he wouldn't go anywhere but there, same goes for Feleini, and Mourinho.

Thats bad news about Dembele cause I truly believe that Spurs midfield has just been giving a massive boost.
I was hoping he would go foreign if he was leaving Fulham or not joining us (not that I held much hope) .

Siggy and Dembele is a mouth watering combination.

How much of a chance will he get at Eastlands though? Would definitely be the right move financially for him, but maybe not playing time wise.

Utd haven't massive amounts of cash. I'd say RVP stretched them.

I'd be a little sickened if he joined them, and that's with me never even expecting him to sign for us. Just don't want Spurs to have him.

I think you may be taking his post too seriously.

Dembele has to be the hottest PL prospect at the moment. Surely a bidding war should be starting over the next couple of days for him.

    From Dembele's wiki page:

"On the 28th of August the Man Utd offered Fulham a signed photo of Mike Phelan plus a £50 voucher for the megastore to secure Dembele signing. Fulham turned down the offer when they discovered the voucher was only valid when the spent an additional £100 in the store"

Thinking about it, 15m in last year of his contract is already a high enough price, even taking his age and talent into equation.

I'm not so sure a bidding war could happen because realistically, the price can't rise much more.

There could however be massive interest in him and he could very well end up doubling, if not trebling his wages.

Wouldn't be surprised if this does spark interest from the likes of City. I'd rather he joined them than Tottenham tbh.

No I think AVB went in strong and got his man for half a Modric .

Do you think he'd break that 60k wage barrier he has for him? I'm hoping no and hopefully Dembele's head can be turned elsewhere.

Had slightly forgotten about the Modric deal so you could well be right about AVB coming in strongly.

Has there been any talk on here about the night Rafa has in Dublin talking about the CL nights, I'd love to head up to it.

I used to think he was terrible but Walcott has grown on me. That's mainly down to how he's improved over the years. If Walcott was an Arsenal underage playey and broke through this year to score 9 goals and 11 assists in 35 appearances at the age of 22 then everyone would be creaming their pants about him. The fact he was a big money buy so long ago and hasn't reached the great heights yet people expected that he must be crap. Most Arsenal fans seem to rate him highly as well.

Can we lose the 'creaming the pance' phrase lads.

When is that on? I would love to go as well.

    Not at a 100k a week they wouldn't.

Few complained about Kuyt being on 90K a couple of years ago when he was scoring goals.
Walcott has the ability to match or even better the output of goals or assists that Kuyt gave us.

If we planned on playing him as a striker we could even offload Carroll, whose wages aren't much less than what Walcott's would be.

Borini-Suarez-Walcott is a well-balanced front three. No out-and-out goalscorer but I'd certainly expect 30-40 league goals between that trio.

Sterling-Assaidi-Downing would be our backup three, with Gerrard providing cover across the line.

Adding a Dempsey in there would obviously improve things hugely as well in terms of cover.

    Carroll, Adam, Spearing out
    Walcott, Dempsey in

Not impossible if our finances will stretch that far

    Found this on Twitter:

Theo Walcott: 17 goals and 15 assists in last 51 starts, 12 sub apps.

That's true is a big lfc fan. Would be good window if we got him and dempsey

Uh... We need a striker far more but I'm sure Rodgers knows this too.

I'm not sure I like the idea of having a guy at only 22 already on 100k a week at the club. It's bound to cause problems down the line when some of our own kids start making a name for themselves.

True, but he has 220 odd top flight games, CL, EC and WC experience. Not comparable until they've done enough to deserve comparison...

There's no way in hell Walcott is worth 100k a week

Where is this 100k/week figure coming from? Arsenal aren't exactly known for handing out big contracts...
