    All,

Halfords in swords are selling 4L of Castrol magnetic (multi-grades) for €20. The chap in store said the offer is usually nationwide. Not a bad offer, considering it normally retails at €37.99

How long does oil last i.e does it has a shelf life?

Thinking of stock up here. My car takes 4.5l so will have to buy 2 of these. So might as well just buy 3 and have enough for 2 oil changes, and top-ups. Or might buy 5 for €100 if it will last a few years?

A few years? Two...maybe. Depending on what you drive, you should be changing the oil every 6 months or every 10k klms. €100 is pretty good for 4 oil changes, plus top ups (if needed).

That's right actually. 20L is four oil changes with top-ups.

Every 6 months minimum I plan to drop the oil, so 2 years. No idea why I thought it'd last more.

Might just get two bottles, and keep an eye out for the next offer if it's fairly regular. Great price for good quality fully synthetic.

    Then what happens?

If sealed, it will probably outlive us.

I seen this but I noticed that some of the 5W30 (which suits my Golf) says "for Ford vehicles" or "for Vauxhall vehicles" underneath.

Confused as to why this is? Can I not use it on my Golf?

I have not seen the oil but I would suspect that the statement means that the specification is ACEA A1/B1. You need to check your driver's handbook and then read the small print on the can.
