M'Baye Niang is officially a Milan player.

Good signing, hope he gets game time. Only 17!

Do you watch many Caen or France under 17 games?

seen him play about 4/5 times between Caen and France u21.

The under 21 friendly against Latvia or the European qualifier against Portugal or both? You must have had to stream those. What had you watching, a scouting brief?

I would guess he watched them because the player has been linked to Milan and I think Seaneh is a Milan supporter.

I often wondered how yhey manage to do a proper medical when a player is signrd minutes before the transfer deadline? Do they do it atferwards?

Arsenal signed Arteta without doing a medical

    http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Arsenal-bought-Mikel-Arteta-for-10m-without-conducting-a-medical-claims-the-player-article808805.html

In his case, the player assumed liability if there was an issue with his fitness.

Rumours going around that Julio Cesar has agreed terms with QPR. No idea if it's true. Surely it can't be. I doubt Rob Green is too happy at the moment.

That must be it lol. Tbh he's not the worst bs'er here by a long way so I shouldn't be picking on him, I'm a massive c*nt btw.

I do suspect there are many prominent "experts" on here that let on that they watch far more football than they do and have been watching such players for years when in reality they've probably done a quick google search or played a few seasons of FM. Its hilarious when they let their guard slip and make a major blunder like not knowing a player's position or nationality despite claiming to nearlyy have been there when he player his first game at under-8 level.

(Not a dig at Seaneh btw.)

There's a shitload of them in the forum.

It happens in real life too, I have a spurz workmate who insists he has seen all the Brazilians and Frenchman they are regularly linked with via contact with a mysterious uncle who lives in France and watching brazilian club games which are 6/7 hrs ahead of us.

Needless to say I humour his claims for later opportunities to wind him up on his bullshyt.

Meh, some do watch plenty of leagues and some dont, why take anybody at face value on the net anyway? If you want to know something about a player and you figure your best shot at finding out about him is by asking on boards.ie then, well, you get the picture!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,598 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Cesar will earn €2.5m a season at QPR according to some twitter people I follow. That's a good deal for them. I thought he'd get at least €4m out of them.
Tancredi Palmeri ‏@tancredipalmeri Until Julio Cesar won't agree with Inter his end of contract, won't be made official deal with QPR.But in London everything done:4yrs,2.5m€

I'd love to know why people assume the guys on here that know about football outside of England are bullshitters BTW. What reasons do you have to call them bullshitters? Nobody goes around here claiming to be a footballing expert, what the feckin point of posting up a load of stuff about a player claiming to know your stuff..It's the internet like.

Any examples on what Roger Sterling said, where someone claiming to know about a player got his position/nationality wrong. Never seen that happen?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭Rekop dog

I mean nobody can possibly be an expert in every league, there's some very knowledgeable posters here but for me their credibility is somewhat tarnished by trying to keep up with a unrealistic and pretty transparent pretence of knowing everything and everyone. The best journos for me are the ones who specialize in specific areas, like Horncastle in Italy, Lowe in Spain, Vicary or Fryer on South American football ect, ones who have real in depth knowledge of the leagues they cover, mainly because they focus most of their attention on watching said leagues. I don't see any shame in saying I've never seen him play before and asking someone who I believe is in a better position to give an appraisal of the league in which the guy is playing.

So QPR have realised that Rob Green is shít then?

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

Some of us like to keep up to date with football around the world be it through reading books, magazines, highlights, full games, betting and simply being well traveled. Then there is the internet as a whole with social media where you just have to search for the right people to follow.

There are some FM talkers here I'm sure, just like any football forum I suppose. Actually, someone here called me out on being one via PM despite me never having played the feckin' game! :D

Nah. It's all about the FIFA ratings my man. My mate is forever harping on about players he's never seen actually play.

"Liverpool linked with Sahin. He's rated really highly in FIFA. He's gonna be amazing"

    I kid you not.

It was the qualifier against Latvia. I was in Peru, had a few days with nothing to do, it was about 8am and I checked oleoletv for streams, watched the highlights of the Ireland match from the day before first. I hadn't a clue who he was was actually watching to see is Yaya Sanogo would play (who I really only knew about from FM2011), turned out he wasn't even in the squad.

Only player I know at all was Saivet (also form fm2011) and he was on the bench.

But when you're in bed with the ****s for a few days and bored out of yur mind any football will do.

The commentators made a big deal about Niang being on the bench before the game and during it because he'd rejected a call up to the Senegal senior team a few weeks beforehand and he was only 16 and how he'd scored 3 goals at the end of the season before.
When he came on against Latvia on he played wide right and looked really quick but a bit nervous or something until he scored.

After that I watched them a few times in Ligue 1 after Christmas to see how he was getting on, seemed to play out wide every game I saw. Which I guess is normal at that age. I was really only watching him after xmass because of how good he was in FM and in the hope of maybe seeing Lenny Nangis (who I only know of from FM).

Funnily enough I watched more ligue 2 games than ligue 1 last season because I wanted to see how Marco Simone was getting on at Monaco (they were piss poor).

I don't mind that as much as them type of people at least are admitting their knowledge of a player are based solely on a computer game. Worst are the frauds.

Kagawa to United was frustrating one from my POV considering the majority of my mates are United supporters. Many didn't know who Kagawa was until the German Cup Final v Bayern or around that time soon after, and yet now a few claim to have always known about him and rated him for years :o

Not really tbh, Milan are only linked to him since the start of the month.

Random luck at first and the FM is why I watched him play.

If I've never seen a player play I'll generally ask one of people (either here IRL) who know the league they play in if they are any good.
When Milan signed Bakaye Traoré I hadn't a clue if he was any use so asked the Ligue 1 lads and they told me he was a ball winning DM.

Same when Philipp Prosenik came on against Chelsea pre-season, I asked the Chelsea lads if he was any use and he hadn't been near the Milan first team before but played a few times for Chelsea reserves.

    Other Milan news.

Bojan should sign on a one year loan by the end of the day.

Don't really know what to make of that one, wasn't great last season, seems to have stalled as a player in the last 2 and a half seasons.

Hopefully he can prove me wrong and be a good signing.

Levy wants €18m for vdV according to multiple German sources. They also say Rafi has agreed to a return, only the fee is holding things up.

The clubs are too far apart and I don't see a deal getting done :(. I wonder would Levy drop the price if Spurs managed to land some of the players they are after, just to get him off the books?

Affelay at Arsenal today according to reports. Has anybody heard this? Would be a great signing if true.

FIFA ratings, where any decent player outside the PL and top Spanish teams is probably vastly underrated in comparison to their comparative equals in the PL.

It annoys me at times. Kagawa at 82 last year for example and I think Lewandowski started at 77. Come on ta fuck for God sake! :pac:

Last Sunday SSN said Man city had agreed a fee of 6.2m for Scott Sinclair

Today they say the two clubs were not able to agree a fee
