    It'll help weaken them.

    What will I do with my Joe Cole jersey now if he goes :(

    I don't think Pardew even wants Carroll.

    I think it's Ashley that wants him back, and I'd say it's for the sessions more than anything else.

    Do like I've been trying for the last two years, pretend the whole Joe Cole to Liverpool thing never happened.

    It's quite difficult I must admit.

    Really hard to forget ;

    32 appearances to date . Contract cost £18million.

    £18,00000/32 = £562,500 per appearance .

    Not bad if you can get it.

    He was brilliant in France though.....

    If it's Richard Buxton with the Cole rumour then it's probably nonsense.

    I'm more excited about selling Cole than I was for Sahin signing. That should say it all really.

    2 million! I'll fly him over and personally escort him to London.

    Someone should, he'll probably end up running himself over with his car otherwise.

    daithijj's point seems quite simple to me:

    - under Moores our investment power in the squad (Transfer Fees + Wages) was X;
    - Moores ran the club extremely poorly and failed to adjust to the Premiership era BUT we were not in immediate danger of Administration;
    - H & G came in with a debt leveraged buyout, improved commercial side of club slightly, nearly ran us into Administration when credit crunch killed their business model (a bit simplistic, but hey);
    - FSG came in and cleared debt meaning club is safe from Administration;
    - FSG have been lauded for huge leaps forward in commercial revenue acquirement;
    - under FSG our investment power in the squad (Transfer Fees + Wages) is now Y;

    From a fan's perspective, it should be Y > X by a decent margin, otherwise all this rubbish about improving the commercial side of the club is an irrelevance.

    In that regard, the actions of the owners should be clear and unequivocal. Their language has been clearer than their actions to date imo.

    Some can see things happen before they happen, others will wait for it to happen before they let their eyes believe it.

    We are making moves to become the new Arsenal off the pitch. In terms of on the pitch it was far easier for Arsenal to remain where they are than for us to make inroads there. Arsenal are hanging by a thread where they are, Wenger is a great manager.

    Sometimes i dont think people really listen to what comes out of the club, they listen but they dont hear it. Ian Ayre said in February, just after the window shut, that there was money to spend if it was needed. Since then we offloaded a batallion of wages off the books, also gained extra revenue from Warrior for example. We also released ourselves from the handcuffs of Addidas in terms of potential extra revenue that would come from that.

    In a few years we will have lovely looking accounts, close to 50% on wages v turnover which will be great............. but it will be a view from our position in mid table.

    If i was a shareholder at LFC id be delighted by the last 12 months, the only truly happy people at Arsenal are shareholders. In some ways we could have speeded up the process of showing what these owners are really about now if Daniel Agger was not Daniel Agger, (he could have been a Nasri). Im delighted he stayed, i have loftier ambitions for the club than a framed league table. But in a few years dont be surprised if you see us turn into Arsenal and sell the family jewels summer after summer because it makes business sense.

    Until we get a new stadium/extend anfield we won't move too far tbh.

    It's getting beyond a joke at this stage.

    I'm actually rather uneasy about a new stadium tbh. I think it could cripple us for a few years, rather like Arsenal, and we would see a further regression in investment in the squad that could take years to overcome, despite the future revenue growth to be gained.

    I know cson has said a lot about it in regards to Arsenal in numerous threads in the Soccer Forum.

    The overriding feeling at the moment is that our owners do not have money to be handing out. Anything we want to spend needs to be generated through sales, culling the wage bill, or commercially.

    We simply will not have enough to improve the squad if we undertake the building of a new stadium imo and we cannot afford this scenario with where we are at the moment.

    Also, London is a lot wealthier than Liverpool, and Arsenal's ticket prices have rocketed since they built the new stadium. Could Liverpool afford to raise prices, while outside of CL football, and actually manage to get the 60,000 + that would make it anyway commercially viable?

    Fans 1st

    Shareholders 2nd

    Simple !

    You right but we are being turned into a fantastic business but potentially a mid table team.
    Both success and profit should go hand-in-hand and not be deliberately made mutually exclusive of each other.

    Honestly, how much do people want the owners to spend? They've spent over 30m this summer with less than 10m being recouped. I said it last week and it's getting more obvious, a lot of people won't be happy until we have a Sheikhy sugar daddy.

    If you were aiming that at me I would say that my point is still relevant.

    If not, just ignore :p

    @LFCTS: Not good, looks like he will be out for 6-7 weeks according to Bascombe, will be missed but not as much as last season.

    I hope it's not true :(

    Off the pitch im totally content, i can only give them compliments for that. I believe them about the new stadium and i have no issues with naming rights, you have to move into the future. I can only imagine the amount of bureaucracy and red tape they have to go through though.

    However, under FFPR, the financing surrounding any stadium venture is designed so it doesnt hold you back on the pitch. Its Wenger's management that is hiding the lack of investment in the team there, which is somewhat ironic i believe, as i feel fans of Arsenal will be on top of him the first day they dont qualify for the CL.

    The media warps things in this regard, and people struggle to see the wood from the trees on it. Spurs and Arsenal have been lauded for their football, their excitement, how well run they are, blah, blah the past few years.

    They've won nothing. Not a ****ing thing.

    Spurs are failing. Arsenal are failing. Newcastle are failing. Not winning is failing. The aim seems to be to overtake them / be them, and that misses the point entirely. Our dreams were so much bigger just a few short years ago. It would be February and you'd EXPECT to be right there in the Champions League. During 2008 / 9 there really were times where I thought we'd do it.

    Now just qualifying is the holy grail. Spurs got there, got spanked by Madrid and failed to get back in. What a disaster! And it was all treated like a great success of some sort in the media. The mind boggles.

    Chelsea were lambasted all through last year. Their owner doesn't have clue; bad football; over the hill players; managerial lolarity, etc. And then they win it all.

    The stadium is important if we want to compete, simple as that.

    If it means being a mid table team for a few years for the sake of a new stadium so be it as miserable as it sounds.

    We got to think long term. The owners need to get something finalised on this asap.

    Some Liverpool fans begging to be owned by a sugar daddy, never thought I'd see that day.
