Sure head down to the Liberty for our game there.

Don't underestimate how far apart Bangor and Swansea are. It'd be a 5 and a half hour train journey each way. Could be done as long as it's a 3 o'clock kick off on the Saturday. Any other time and I probably wouldn't be able.

    I'll look into it.

Draw was best result today, hate to see either of them win.

Anfield is a bogey ground for City so I expect Liverpool to revert to type next week & Arsenal to finally score a few.

i would haved cheered every liverpool goal if they won ten nil.
fergie would aswell he just wouldnt admit it.;)

Just tell Fergie that Dembele was a striker and can play on the wing. He would defo sign him then.

Have to praise Rafael, he was like Denis Irwin on glucose or caffeine pills yesterday - getting forward and causing problem. Can he take peno's?

a denis irwin who can't defend.

we desperatly need a physical presence in midfield and we're not going to get it. Which means more of the same as last season. We'll score but make midfields like newcastle's and everton's look worldly.

Amazing, Rafael has gone from being our best RB to being a defender who can't defend, all within a few days.

Brilliant guys, just brilliant, keep it up.

My RvP home jersey arrived this morning. Sexy it is lads. To be honest, the whole tartan thing isn't too bad when you see it up close.

he's always made horrendous mistake. With both positioning and discipline. Has been happening with each season he figures. Comes with the age.

wouldn't be that hard to be our best rb if we're being realistic. He's far greater than anyone else in that position with the ball.

he was skinned about 3 times on saturday and was the cause for the first goal (the free kick anyway).

    Poor old Raf can't win.

this season is after starting a lot like last. Struggled in an away game (this time we lost) and followed it up with a home game that had a lot of chances for both teams.

I think the fitness and conditioning lads might want a rethink about how they prepare the side for a new season. Or maybe Mitch was right when he questioned the touring schedule all those weeks ago. In the last two games United tired near the end. But thats where United are normally taking advantage of the opposition getting tired.

Hate posts like this. Sounds so smug.

You do realise that both descriptions can be true? And I'd doubt there is any one poster who claimed he was brilliant a few days ago and now are saying he's bad at defending. Probably more likely to be seperate people.

Maybe it didn't translate well across TV but I was at OT for the game, and no other player gave as much heart and effort as Rafael. He busted his hole for the entire match, was hard into every tackle, and was ordering people around even at the death.

If you were a neutral without an idea of who was who, you would have probably said Rafael was our captain.

Yes, he will make a few mistakes over the season, but he will learn and get even better. Unless his form completely deserts him, he sould be played every PL game (rests excluded).

Easily one of my favourite United players.

You can't place all the blame on Rafael for the first goal .

He loses the ball then wins it back but his tackle sends the ball to Petric who is fouled by a flat footed Carrick . Then Young loses Duff in the box and he scores .

There's more to it than Rafael anyway.

in fairness the players who look unfit and not ready were at the euros past the group stage and didnt get a pre season with us. united have had bad starts as long as i can remember. i actually think we had a better first half to last season then we had had in a while bar the city result. rooney defo looks like he enjoyed his holiday a bit and needs to shift a bit of weight. i hadnt noticed until he was being stretchered off and it looked a bit much for a pro footballer.

as for everyone on raf. he has made a few mistakes at defending but so did gary neville in his early years. i think if we stick with him he will be class. it seems more concentration that he lacks and a bit to rash diving in with both feet at times a bit of a hot head on him like. this endeers him to me cause it shows he is taking it serious but he needs to calm down at times or get sent off. i think he was class on saturday. could have had 3 goals. not bad for a RB.

I do love Rafael. If only for that Tevez moment a few years ago. He is a headcase but he's our headcase.

Just like DeGea, I would just play him every week and hope experience improves them. When on form I wouldn't swap either of them.

i agree about rafa but in carricks defence it is not his usual position defending like that in the box. and as for young i think he was fouled not only by duff but also by diarra. if you watched goals on sunday yesterday kammy pointed this out though he was happy with the goal standing as he found it clever

de gea was a mix up between him and vidic. only one of them should have gone for it. i think all de gea needs to do is gain a few pounds in muscle so that he can come crashing through a group of players to clear the ball.

I thought Raf was amazing Saturday. Any word on how Fab did with QPR?

nothing really special. he was played at RB but was not at fault for there goal and didnt really make any mistakes. didnt see enough in the highlights to judge really. i think his problem is the other defenders he is playing with look a little shaky atm. when boswinga is ready im hoping he is played at RB and fabio LB dropping Traore who he is better than. and then more solid CBs and if he has that along side him it will help his development. he has played two games at least so hopefully by the end of the season its 30+ and he doesnt end up on the side of a defence which ends up whipping boys for the rest of the teams cause that would be terrible for his confidence

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,720 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

I think De Gea mistake was a lack of force and a real intent. He was almost waiting for the ball rather than coming at speed and meeting the ball as he went through the air with force.

His timing will improve and the rest of his goal keeping abilites make the wait more than worthwhile.

Played 70 mins at rb the other 20 at lb . Some were saying he could have got closer to Snodgrass for his cross for the goal proabably right .

I think Rafael should start every game. Love his attitude, even if he has bit of a fiery temper.

And with Tony V in front of him they make a great duo, they played very well together last season as well.

once we have two natural CBs playing im happy with Raf playing every week. evans on the bench on saturday hopefully means he is back next week starting. with jones back in training too we should have options at the back after next week's game with a break until the following one

Seeing as Rafael is topical, here is his interview with MUTV after the match on Saturday.

I'd be quite happy to see him start every game at RB for us this season.

I think he is a good RB and needs that exposure and experience to grow.

No doubt in my mind, should be our regular centre back and have been saying it since Bayern Munich at home...

in all fairness lads, as good and all as rafael was going forward, he was a bit suspect defensively the last day.

their 2 goals and their shot off the bar, all came down their left wing, and also the 2 Dembele chances were cut ins from that left wing. not all rafael of course, but he could have defended alot better.

had those 5 or so chances come from the other flank, Evra would be lashed out of it and people would be looking for him to be sold. a bit of fair analysis and realism is needed, rafael had a great game going forward, but he didnt defend as well as he should have done.

Talk of Nani on the move starting to heat up.

    Really hope it isn't true.

He is a frustrating player, but on form he is one of the best wingers in the world. If we did sell him, it would likely be for less than he is worth, and we likely wouldn't replace him - as it seems to take United MONTHS to make any big signing.

I can't see any reason to sell Nani if it only serve to weaken the squad.

I don't even know what wingers we could be going for - I reckon Hazzard or Lucas Moura was the plan, but we missed out on them. Who else is there? Rodrigues? Isco maybe? Iker Muniain?

I do reckon by Friday night Nani will be gone and there will be no replacement brought in.

Thought raf had a good game going forawrd on the weekend, i've been critical of him before, for the first goal I think its harsh to blame him solely but you could argue he should have dealt with the ball before the free kick. For the second goal he gets sucked out of position leaving valencia to track his position which is fine, and what happened next is obviously degea/vidics problem.

I think a lot of people look at that game and see rafael scoring a goal and having 2/3 other good chances but both goals came from his side and additionally he allowed ~3 players pass him with ease leading to good chances for the opposition(one example is the cross carrick had to head over). People who don't see this as a defensive issue in his game should have a look at all of fulhams chances and ignore our chances.

He is good and I want him to play but I worry sometimes especially if someone like Tony V isn't gonna track back as well(Nani for example)

I think Nani's fate was sealed when he was left out of the squad on Saturday.

Did Lucas Moura move to PSG or is it in January?

kagawa on sky sports website now.
Kagawa said in the Daily Star: "I want to improve parts of my game. I think the combination play with the other players will improve match by match.

    Brilliant

"We pass the ball sideways a lot, but I want my team-mates to pass the ball forward to my feet. I need to speak to them about this.

"I want them to have the confidence to play it up to me when I'm ahead of them. That is one of my strengths and style. I want to be on the ball more. I want to be busier."

England international Tom Cleverley is one of the men tasked with feeding the ball to Kagawa and the midfielder thinks the former Borussia Dortmund man already looks an excellent signing.

Cleverley said: "He is brilliant. He has settled in really well. He links defence with attack. He gets on the half-turn and creates chances.

"I cannot speak highly enough of him. I love playing with him - one and two touch, high-energy football. We are on the same wavelength.

the bit in bold is something that i commented on during the game on Sat and also multiple times last year. it really si very frustraing just how much we try to play every ball sideways to work a cross into the box. it worked against fulham, but didnt against a more physical team such as everton who were able to defend it.

i actually cant believe how predictable our play is at times and how one dimensional it is. looking at how arsenal play, its no wonder RVP for 30+ goals for them last year as even though we have a much better team than them, a better defence and more width, their central creativity is a world ahead of ours and if they get in a really good strike like llorente for example, he will clean up.

its pretty damning that after 2 games, kagawa is voicing his concers at the type of football we are playing and to be honest, its been like that for about 18 months.

it would likely be for less than he is worth

Question is how much is he worth? I do agree that in half the games he plays he can be on fire and borderline world class. I think its fair for others to question his consistency at times...but this is due to the high standards he has set himself.

To be honest if we signed Delemebe (spelling) or another solid CM and got 20m+ for Nani I'd be quietly happy.
