The team is as expected no Walcott
    Mannoe in goal

Im glad Walcott has been left out. Thought he was absolute muck last week.

How did Podolski play last week. I only saw the highlights so I'm looking forward to seeing him today

Only for Mannone I'd be loving this, just hope he can produce one of those inspired games

Agreed, he's the only one I'm worried about. Glad Giroud got the shout up front with Walcott being dropped to the bench.

Great lineup today, good system by Wenger i feel, i just hope they stand up to the physical challenge Stoke will no doubt play.
Cazorla interview was excellent, great optimism and looks a character even if he hasn't got great English.

Bugger is right, positives are the new players are starting to look settled but still finding there feet at the same time, the defence has been solid for all our worrying Mannone was barely tested credit to Bould.

Only thing is once again we failed to score and I do feel the goals will come its just a matter of time but we know all well see in tomorrows papers is no tracherous dutch plaer no goal headlines, and likewise from oppossition fans its all ill hear all week .

Two clean sheets in a row is a big plus. Also the fact that we dominated both games for the most part. Just need to get some goals now and we'll be flying. Defence and all round team performance has improved from last season, our strikers just havent settled yet but have looked decent.

Not ideal position to be in, but also far from being the worst.

Brilliant defensive display coped with the physical stuff

Ya we looked good at the back. Toothless up front tho. Still think its just players needing time to gel. A lot hesitation and misunderstandings out there I thought. Once they are ironed out we will be good to go. :)

Things will get better, this is to be expected when we play 3 new players in influencial positions against two teams that were set out to stifle us physically.
Cazorla is one step ahead of the other two though.

Chamak not on the bench amid rumours he is off on loan, think we will see a striker brought in

Tbh a draw at Stoke is a pretty good result for us, they really are our bogey team.
Massive positive from this match is that our defence is far superior to what we had last season, didn't give Stoke as many chances to score compared to what we usually would have.
On the other hand, what is wrong with our shooting. Plenty of shots but can barely remember if any of them were on target.
Thin Giroud will come good for us though soon, looks a great prospect. Think we still need another striker though, still a bit short up front.

Another 0-0, unsurprising- what was the price on that

If giroud had of scored that attempted lob from the left wing it would have been worth sitting through them 90 minutes .
I think itll gel in a game or two .
Still unbeaten this season . Invinvibles .

Jamie Redknapp is a clueless gob****e really, Podolski was dissapponting he was one of our best players in the first half.

one thing i think we saw today was Podolski starting to show some leadership qualities, shouting instructions and getting more involved. I think he could be an important player for us over the next few seasons. we need someone to grab the team and encourage them. Arteta was class again.

    Against two shite teams.

I'm feeling massively negative right now, we've got the same problem as last season, no creativity whatsoever. I could swear there was someone who papered over that problem last season but we haven't got that now.

Thought we stood up to Stoke well today - didn't get bullied, and the defensive coped well with the physical stuff when needed.

Love Podolski's workrate, he has harassing them all game. I hope Giroud gets that one goal to get him going - if that lob had gone in it would be the talk of the weekend. Cazorla is amazing and will be even better when he forms an understanding with the rest of the players, same goes for Giroud and Podolski.

On a side note - how nice would it be if Stoke got relegated? Scumbag fans that boo a player because he had his leg snapped 6 times by one of their own excuse for a football player who doesn't know how to tackle, classless manager, and bore to death football. They do no good for the league - need more of the Swansea's around the place.

He did start well but faded as the game went on IMO

As I said before the season began think we still need a proven goal scorer.
We had no real options on the bench to change things around.

    Wenger get busy!

No crreativity with Cazorla, Chamberlain Wilshere to return we have plenty of creativity in the squad have patience.

Ah cry into your pillow!!! :pac:
We didn't beat them last season in both games and you're whinging like the league is over.
We could do with a striker like RVP, but that will never happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,783 ✭✭✭emergingstar

Our defence is solid and our two best defenders to come back
Before people start crying for rvp how many goals did he score in the opening two games last year

Yeh he did fade in the second half hence why he was subbed but in the first half he looked very bright and looked hungry and could make things happen. Id put down the fact he faded to lack of match fitness really.

We have creative players but we had some last year as well and teams did the same thing against us, line up 20 yards from their goal and other than someone scoring one of the one or two chances per match we'd create we did little else. A few years ago we would create plenty but convert few, last season we would almost create a lot of chances but very few really chances, looks like it's the same again this season.
