This game just proves how good Dembele is. Won 7 tackles and never seen him bullied physically by any United player (not that hard though). He was just class, dribbling, passing, retaining possession everything was very good.

He have the ball away twice in the first half . And another 5 times in the second half .

He had 91% pass accuracy .

    69/76

He just always seemed to be second to the ball and miles behind a Fulham midfielder when they had the ball coming through the mid.

He only mis placed one pass all game . 98% accuracy .

Giggs & Welbeck were poor when they came on, as was Rooney IMO.

Kagawa was fantastic. He will be a massive player for us this season.

I thought Cleverley was very good too. Always looking for the ball, following up his passes to make sure he was available to receive.

Anderson, I'm not sure. I thought he was ok, he lacked composure though.

We are badly missing Carrick sitting deep in midfield. The midfield looks unbalanced without someone playing that role and in both games so far we have been too open because of it. Neither Anderson or Cleverley can cover there.

When we were 3 - 1 up if Fergie brought Ando off, Wooton on and put Carrick in front of the back 4 we would have been far better off IMO.

Kagawa shouldn't have come off either, he was pivotal to us maintaining possession high up the pitch.

Also, Dembele is the closest player in the league to Yaya T. Incredible athlete, strong as an ox, comfortable in possession and well able to stride past players.

If he could be signed for circa £15m it would be the cherry on top of a very very good transfer window :)

Fair enough, the two times he did lose it seemed pretty jarring, but twice isn't "a fair amount". I don't think he was all that special in his performance today however. The game completely slackened after the hour and when we needed to push on for the fourth after De Gea's mistake he wasn't exactly running the show. He was alright, but I want more. Hopefully it'll come.

    Re: Rooneys injury.

Seven days before the sutures come out. Two weeks before he can do any extensive excercise. A month for swelling to fully stop.

My guess is a couple of months minimum.

We won't take your word for it :).

Lads, weirdest thing about the match, pretty sure I counted 3 crosses by Valencia on his left foot. Where did that come from?

Here's Rooneys gash . Sounds dirty

    Clearer pic, and more gruesome.

It happens every time I watch a match on the Setanta stream. He did it once last season and he's already tried it three times this season. They were very good crosses as well. Don't know why he doesn't trust himself more. He'd become so much more of a threat if he did.

I noticed that, and Evra was using his right foot more often too, which I found odd. Perhaps Valencia is more confident in the strength of his left foot/ankle now that it's been a while since he was injured? Kicking transfers a lot of energy through the joint, and the weakness and plates in his left ankle probably made him hesitant. He did develop a good passing technique with the outside of his right foot though.

Rafael and Valencia are the perfect match on the right, as Valencia's defensive attributes compensate for Rafael's attacking runs. Rafael was very unlucky not to have a 2nd goal tonight.

Yeah it looks like Valencia is adding a bit more to his locker, if it's a surprise to us to see him use his left for a cross imagine what Briggs was thinking when Valencia floated one in on his left.

Glad to see him diversifying a bit, his crosses with his left weren't bad either.

I noticed that too! Very strange, as was Rafael having 3 attempts on target and hitting the net twice with them.

That wasn't good for the heart at the end. A Jeckyll and Hyde performance.

Nani nowhere to be seen and Valencia using his left, maybe they merged :P

Rafael and Valencia down the right is an awesome combination.

Would play them as often as possible in tandem.

Welbeck & Gigga were shîte when they came on .

Hopefully Evans or any other centre half are fit for our next game and we can put Carrick back into midfield

Giggs made two great tackles when he came on, shîte v harsh

Great feeling to see RVP celebrating a great goal and be able to celebrate along!! :D

Just want to echo the sentiment about kagawa - he looks a bonafide superstar, settled in quickly and could be immense for us!

I thought the substitutions were unnecessary risks, for anyone who didnt watch it, United went from

    _____Clev___Ando____
    Tony V___Kag___Young
    _________RVP________

to something along the lines of, although the 3 strikers were drifting around positions

    _____Clev___Giggs____
    Tony V___RVP___Welbeck
    ________Rooney_______

With only a goal in it, they were risky moves, the team looked alot more unbalanced. Surely if he wanted to bring on Welbeck and Rooney, then RVP should have come off and if the centre of midfield needed a change, then Scholes would have been a better candidate and Giggs been more suited to coming on for Kag or Young.

Havnt seen united being that quick and fluid on the counter in a long time . Its down to kagawa hanging around the halfway line when we are defending i think . It was great to watch .
Dembele would be great to have.
Valencia was not only using both feet but also bustling around the centre of the pitch . It like having 50per cent more valencia . " new improved tony v , now with twice as many feet ".
Second have was bit brutal . To cap it off my laptop was overheating and the inlaws turned up so didnt get to see much .
Looked bad though . All i seen was a bloody rooney and dembele on the ball .
De gea may get slated for the second goal but he did manage to pull off a miracle in the first half.

A game of two halves i suppose.
Who got man of the match ? Kagawa?

RVP needed the 90 mins after no pre season. The second team there shoul be well good enough to see off Fulham at home. As proved to be the case, even with ten men at the end.

Rooney's reported 4 week absence is good and bad news for you IMO.

Good news is it allows you a few weeks to develop a system for Van Persie without having to worry about Rooney. The bad news is just as it will probably be all starting to click, Rooney will be back from injury and lets face it, he won't be on the sitting on the bench every week so you're back to square one in trying to get everyone used to a system involving Van Persie and Rooney.

There was no need to unbalance the team that much, could have resorted to 4-4-2 and not bring on 2 strikers. The 10 men only played a few minutes, other than that at 3-2, fulham had opportunities to equalise.

Reasonable. I think Fergie asked him to play a mire subdued Carrick type role. Did fine without excelling.

Hazard with a goal and 6 assists in 2 and a half games. Maybe, just maybe that agent's fee might have been worth it :P.

A few good indvidual performances today, Cleverley, Anderson, Rafael to note a few. RVP goal was a super finish and it lifted the players at a time we needed, apart from that i didn't think he did much else. I thought Young was poor, i'd much rather have Nani in there ahead of him. The most important thing today was the 3pts. A few good performances but as a team it's not there just yet. Kagawa had another good performance, not as good as Monday's imo but he's going to take time to really settle but he looks a bargin buy already.

Very good overall. Got taken off with 10 to go. He had give the ball away cheaply a couple of times before that but overall he was full of energy and used the ball very well. Overshadowed a bit by the giant that is Dembele but who wouldnt have been today.

He played well as did Cleverly but both are in need of a better defensive presence alongside them. Realistically in the bigger games, there competing with Scholes for 1 position. They were exposed today by Dembele in particular on multiple occasions.
