With RvP, Nani and Kagawa in particular, this is the first time Rooney has had real quality competition for his place in the starting XI. How do you's think he'll react to that?

Personally I think it'll be good for him. While I'm not suggesting he's been coasting for the last few years, the extra competition could be the motivation for him to really push on

He fúcking whinged about "ambition" and the players being bought, United go and buy some real quality, and Rooney goes and plays like he did on Monday?

If he doesn't buck his odeas up, he should be dropped.

I'll miss Jame Gumb. A spiky but interesting and intelligent character.
Easy to stick the knife in when the man is gone.

I wouldn't be too sure about that....

True, but I wouldn't base much on one game, particularly the first game of the season in a ground that will always be a difficult one for Rooney to go to

Not sure if there was a charter change, are we allowed publicly discuss/request links for streams?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,391 ✭✭✭d22ontour

Asking for a link by pm doesn't seem to be covered by the charter.

    Rooney and Nani who?

Just shows that we can now drop Rooney and it won't have a massive effect on our first team.

Young's been dirt and isn't good enough generally.

I've been banging that drum for months.
What's the point in asking someone to pm a f**king omelette recipe when you can just ask to pm a stream.

Ach, it's just a bit of fun now.

I remember in my teens when WWE were pulling videos down from Youtube. The Internet Wrestling Community used the passcodes "Cheese Souffle" for ages to sneak the videos up without them coming down. Good times.

Fair enough,it's a bit cringey for my liking tbh.

I propose that in future we ask to speak to the Prime Minister :pac:

That was a game of two halves. Looked so dangerous and exciting in the first half, only to revert back to a frustrating "Pass the ball outside the box for 30 minutes before taking a shot" playstyle.

I felt once Kagawa went off, we seemed to go down a gear.

I wonder what we'd be saying right now had Rooney picked up that gash and we hadn't signed RVP.

Welbeck & Gigga were shîte when they came on .

Hopefully Evans or any other centre half are fit for our next game and we can put Carrick back into midfield

    Exactly

Last week Fellaini had the game of his life against us, and this week Dembele played out of his skin. Thank god Southampton don't have a beast in midfield. Are these players that good, or are we making them out to look better than they are?

I thought Cleverley and Anderson actually had decent games, but we're definitely lacking a physical presence in midfield.

Started out shít, got better for a while then finished with us clinging on.

Kagawa was class again, RVP was quiet besides the lovely goal. De Gea made a few nice saves but was at fault for the second goal.

Wonder how long Rooney will be out for?

You can't have seen much of Fellaini or Dembele last season to describe those two performances as out of the ordinary for either of them.

I didn't think that Cleverley was that great at all tbh. Gave the ball away a fair amount first half, disappeared in the second.

I don't think he did. He said they both played brilliantly, and then asked a question.

I know that they're both good players. Fellaini has an issue with consistency, but when he plays well he's a joy to watch. Dembele also had a good season last season. We really struggled to contain him. He waltzed through our midfield at will.

Bit odd to say someone had the game of their life if you haven't seen them play a good bit before.

Here's Rooneys gash . Sounds dirty

Worrying signs there, but excited to see how we play when we have a proper center back to partner Vidic and we can push Carrick back into midfield to sure things up a lot more.

Biggest disappointment was their second goal, especially with De Gea being easily one of the best keepers in the world in 2012, big pity to see those crossing nightmares creep back in. Thankfully in didn't cost us.

All in all though, excellent performance by Kagawa, Van Persie off the mark, Cleverley looked sharp and Rafael seems to be revitalised with the number 2 on his back. Bit more consistency and all around sharpness from the wingers combined with Carrick coming back into the holding role and we should have a very exciting team to watch and hopefully be a lot more assured then we looked in the last 25 minutes today.

    Howard Nurse ‏@howardnurse

SAF on Rooney: "It's a very bad gash. He's been whisked off to hospital and I think he'll be out for four weeks."

He have the ball away twice in the first half . And another 5 times in the second half .

He had 91% pass accuracy .

    Re: Rooneys injury.

Seven days before the sutures come out. Two weeks before he can do any extensive excercise. A month for swelling to fully stop.

My guess is a couple of months minimum.

I don't think we did especially badly in midfield today, Cleverley did well for himself. Dembele having a great game being more of it.
