Seems like a really good price.

One thing about Samsung. The inbuilt media player via USB will play anything thrown at it. They are really good at issuing firmware updates.

I have the "old" LCD 40&46 3D tvs and they are the dogs bollix. No need for media players and great picture.

You can even view .CR2 (canon "RAW") digital photos on them. You can't even do that on a PC without specific software :/

That's a brilliant price for that.
£699Stg on amazon (€882), and €999 in Currys and Harvey Norman.

It also has an "AVForums Recommended award" (and good value for money at £950stg according to them)

    It is saorview ready.

Smaler Samsungs have decent prices too (http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/12548231/art/samsung/ue40eh5000-led-television.html) - €570 in DID Electrical.

I'd rather pull my toe nails out than deal with Pixmania again

This TV is only an extra 20 quid or so on Amazon, but you'd need to use one of those delivery services (parcelmotel or whatever) to have it delivered here.

I'd personally be happy to spend the extra 50 quid if it meant not dealing with Pixmania.

    FREEVIEW. :(

    Not SAORVIEW.

I can only find it on amazon for £699, that's over €200 more expensive + shipping, whatever that would cost.
I've never had to deal with Pixmania, but i am aware of people not liking their service, but for nearly €250 extra, would it still not be worth it? (Genuine Question)

It does have Saorview. I don't know why it doesn't say it on the Pixmania site, but it does everywhere else..

Ooops, sorry, when I searched the model number it came up with the following...

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-UE46EH5000-46-inch-Widescreen-Freeview/dp/B007JURHG4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1345792530&sr=8-2

Although I see the model number is slightly different, not sure how different the TV is though.

Have to agree here as the inbuilt player in mine plays big MKV Blu-Ray rips without any issues at all! How does one go about upgrading the firmware mate? Is it download the firmware file onto a USB drive and flash it from there?

    Cheers,
    M

What does this bit on the pixmania ad mean? Is it some sort of dodgy import?

"This product requires a mains adapter for Ireland. Pixmania supplies an adapter when you buy this product."

Coola boola! On a side note I want the surround sound from the PS3 and my TV to feed into my Sony amplifier.....the thing is the Sony amp has only one optical in. Is it possible to get a two to one splitter\converter so I can have both plugged in an the one that is currently turned on being the one that sends the optical audio through to the amp? Hope that makes sense......

    Cheers,
    M

id say its just an adapter for the plug to change it from a two prong to three.

Has amazon changed its shipping policy to Ireland? On two occasions in the past I have purchased TVs from the .co.uk site and they were delivered to me.

They won't deliver screens over 26 inches now, or at least that was the case a few weeks ago.

Holy crap thats a goo deal. Do they generally stay at a discounted price for long? Would love to buy it but maybe in 3 months :( Unless the credit card takes the hit.

Its a good price but the one reservation I would have is that it is only 50Hz not 100Hz so may not be the best for fast motion or sport.
Clear Rate Motion 100. Although this isn't the same as conventional 100Hz processing, it does claim to offer gains in motion clarity through measuring the chipset, TV panel and backlight.

I have the 40 inch version,

FYI RTE app works but netflix doesn't work. It is a known issue according to Samsung but they have no time frame on when it will be fixed.

Its a very good television and the record to Hdd is very handy but imo the smart functionality has little practical use without netflix working.
Youtube works well but the keyboard entry via remote control is tedious.
