What the Hoy - Liverpool to Dublin ferry - no foot passengers?

Why do the ferry companies prohibit foot traffic (Liverpool to Dublin) - routing everyone to Dublin via Holyhead?

No doubt there are numerous hitch hikers willing to share ferry cost to get across?

Pretty sure that ferry is a bit more commercial. Truck drivers and the like.

    Yup,

I got that ferry, its mainly truckers. Actually they don't recommend it if your pregnant either.

To me it looked like there was only enough rooms to suit the amount of vehicles it could carry.

Funny thing is, the overnight accommodation is better imo than the normal ferry (side by side beds vs bunk beds)

    The food is attrocious though.
