We're about to sign Kaka, Strootman, Dembele, Herrera. Evra is on the way out to Liverpool.

    ITK.

Was reading an article on Louis Saha there and I honestly had completely forgot that he was at Manchester United during the Champions League win  I thought he had left a couple of seasons before that!

I remember him getting a winner against you lot that season, and he also was on score sheet against Chelsea. He scored few that season, but injuries took its toll near the end of season.

Always had time for him. Seems a forgotten man for us. Hope he is success at Sunderland.

I honestly think that he would have been a massive success but for injuries. Pity he was more like pinocchio rather than a real boy.

Yes I am sure he would have been. Fine player when he was 100% fit.

Aye, when I read the article it all came flooding back but I had to double check to make sure the article that claimed he won a Champions League was actually true :pac:

Yeah I remember that game. 1-0. We had put everyone behind the ball and Gordon was pulling off saves left, right and centre before coming for and completely missing a cross which allowed Saha to score.

Was Roy Keanes first time in charge of Sunderland at OT is what I remember most.

    Off this guy.
    FootyAgentITK ‏@FootyAgent_ITK
CONFIRMED: Patrice Evra WILL move to Liverpool for an initial £9m (+£1m if #lfc get back in CL)............IN JANUARY. More to follow. #mufc
    FootyAgentITK ‏@FootyAgent_ITK
I understand that Evra was at Melwood for a medical this afternoon and had an amicable conversation with Suarez. #mufc #lfc #EvraToLFC

Seems like a done deal. That's probably why Fergie was so happy to get the Buttner deal done :).

Glad Sky brought back The Footballers' Football Show...it's pretty good.

The Portsmouth manager, Michael Appleton, is on. Anyone else remember him coming through the youth ranks at United in the mid 90s?

    Don't remember to be honest.

Remember his name from articles in Shoot Magazine about "Fergie's Fledglings". There used to be this anonymous black cartoon character called "FC Norbert" (FC stood for "Football Correspondent"). They used to have features about the "Fledglings". Ben Thornley was one of the most talked about.

He was such a talented player. When he stayed free of injuries he was one of the best in the league.

One of my most memorable goals of his was on his return to Craven Cottage. He picked the ball up and just powered through the defence and hit the ball as hard as he could into the back of the net.

The one against Chelsea was a beauty also.

42 goals is decent return for a player who had a terrible record with injuries.

Hope he gets on well with Sunderland.

His book is supposed to be very good from what I've heard. If I see it in a shop in the next while I may buy it. One review that I read says "His passage on missing out on the ’08 Champions League final in Moscow is powerful; the memories are still so raw that he all but spills his bleeding heart out on the page".

As far as I know he wrote it himself so it's not your typical footballers book.

Remember getting the United Magazine every month and Dessie Baker (most famous for playing with Shels for years) was getting huge reviews banging in goals for youth sides and was key member of Youth Cup winning side. He was meant to go onto big things, but apparently antics off field led to him not getting contract extension.

Sahin to Liverpool is looking close now.
Brendan Rodgers on Sahin: "Hopefully in the next 24 hours we'll get some confirmation on that. It's quite far [along the line].He's a very good footballer."
    Shame.

Had such high hopes for Terry Cooke after his debut against Bolton too.

Then he turned sh*t anf became a City legend.

I remember playing against a fella called Paddy Lee who was tipped for big things at United. Never happened though. He was class though.

    Shame.

Whether he goes to Arsenal or Liverpool, it will be a loan.

I have a feeling it won't have an option to buy either. Could be wrong but my gut feeling is he is moving temporarily to get game time.

    FFS

    Now that is bad.

No doubt he'd come to us in a heartbeat of we made a move. I'm sure he'd much prefer being at the business end of things to mid table mediocrity.

Would love to see him at United.

I remember him as well,he set up Giggsy for a goal against Bolton I think it was,id say Terrys last game could have been that game against York City that The Kew Tour mentioned in a previous page.

    Champions League football primarily.

More chance of winning trophies as well.

(Just to clarify, the above is based on the assumption that he is leaving Real Madrid and that he's close to a move to Liverpool)

I'm not disappointed. It's not like Arsenal or Liverpool pipped us to him, we weren't interested. I'm sure he's talented but he didn't play a whole lot last season due to injuries and whatever.

I'm very happy with our summer transfers.

Dunno about everyone else but I'm pissed we haven't done anything about Sahin.

Agreed. He's better than anything we have in the middle of the park.

EDIT: Kagawa still 40s for PFA POTY with PP. Good value.

Off the Ball did an interview with him a while back. It sounds very interesting. Would be keen to read about Clarefontaine etc.
