Are the commentators blind? How was the goal borderline? He was clearly offside! That's the 2nd time a player was offside and the analyst, whoever it is says it was borderline! Therefore, I suggest, everytime crisis is mentioned on Sky Sports, it clearly means "happy days" for Arsenal.

What Arsenal game are you watching?

Apologies, was referencing the Chelsea game. Had to write out that post a few times to hide the anger fumes of the absolutely dire commentary team that is "Sky Sports". Neville would've been perfect to give some analysis on the goal.

Was watching the Arsenal game on ESPN at the weekend and was just disgusted at how anti-Arsenal most commentators are. And what was worse, was the fact that most of these ten-a-penny d'bags are pretty much shi*e at their work.

My take on it from what I've read is that Madrid would like to keep Sahin after next year but are willing to put an option to buy for 14million (not sure if it's euro or pounds but i reckon its euro).
The reason it's taking so long is because Arsenal are of course trying to negotiate a better deal for themselves.

I know, ridiculous. We should just pay whatever it is anyone demands.

BTW, Madrid, signed this guy for about £10m.

He's played sod games all season, they want a £2m loan fee plus a £14m purchase option, which would mean he would cost us £16m in total, for a guy Mardrid spend approx £10m on and was a flop (he was, really).

Which makes me wonder if Wenger was such a long time admirer why didn't he buy him last year

So does anybody actually know what the story with Sahin is?
Some sources say he's going to Liverpool, others say he's def going to Arsenal. Also hearing that Wenger is now mulling it all over as he doesn't think he can perform the defensive duties that he wants him for.

Doubt the latter is true really, doesn't make sense that you would almost buy a player only to back out in the last minute realising that he's actually not the player we should be after at all.

They are sorting the intricacies of the deal out. As usual it takes a while with Arsenal.
    Relax, it will get done...eventually!

Sometimes i wish there was no twitter or any of these "In The Knows". I miss the days when i was oblivious to all the transfer dealings made by Arsenal. :p

I think there is something going on behind the scenes which explain the delay. If they can make a sneaky bid for Tiote from Newcastle and get him then they have no need for Sahin.

German SNN says Sahin has medical passed and may be announced tomorrow.

Chu Young Park, is that you?

Except Wenger actually bought this one.

Have many of ye read Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby? A long time since I read it now but it's a great book and essential reading if you're an Arsenal fan. Even if you don't support Arsenal its a book any football fan can relate to.

Been 20 years since it came out now, Nick Hornby has written a piece for the Telegraph reflecting on it, worth a read: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/9481042/Nick-Hornby-People-say-my-book-sold-football-to-the-middle-classes.-I-disagree.html

Let's put the Sahin thing to I've side for a bit

How should we start Sunday, one change for me

Giroud up top, podolski to the wing, and walcott benched

I'd go with that. Stoke to defend like Sunderland so the big man up front gives more options.

Yeah definitley want to see Giroud start and I think poldi would be much more effective than Walcott too. Walcott is a good option to bring on for the last twenty minutes.

    I'd go with this:
    Sczezny

    Jenkinson - Mert - Kosc - Gibbs

    Arteta - Ramsey

    Gerv - Santi - Podolski

    Giroud

Or else Diaby instead of Ramsey to deal will Stokes physicality

Want us to win this game so much. I detest that excuse of a football team we're playing and their knuckle dragging fans. Would love us to give them a hiding.

That's what I'd like to see, Girouds movement up front was better than Poldi's as he's more used to being a lone striker I think, and Podolski offers more when he can cut inside and unleash that hammer of a left foot. He's also decent as a defensive winger and in a game where the opposition sits back Walcott can be...less than good. I think Walcott being brought on towards the end if Stoke are (hopefully) chasing the game then we could get some joy out of him. I'd like to see the Ox make an appearance too.

And fingers crossed again that if Diaby plays he'll be uninjured! Although...Stoke....i'd leave him on the bench for it to be on the safe side.

    Is Vermaelen injured ?

If not I think the same team as v Sunderland will start, think he will prefer Mert over Kos to combat the Stoke 'style' of play, even if Kos is fit

I would go for the same team as we had against Sunderland except put Giroud up front and put Podolski in instead of Walcott.

Back five will be the same as last week. We need Mertesacker in against Stoke so Koscielny has to make do with a place on the bench. Giroud definitely starts up top. The only reason he didnt start last week was he played 90 in midweek. Gervinho was brilliant on the left last week too so I'd hate to move him to the right this week but I also wouldn't start Walcott against Stoke. He is useless when the opposition just defend. If Chamberlain is still out, we kind of have to move Gervinho to the right to start Podolski too. Only other question mark would be who is the third man in midfield. Diaby or Ramsey?

    I'd go with:
    Szczesny
    Jenkinson -- Mertesacker -- Vermaelen -- Gibbs
    Arteta
    Cazorla
    Diaby
    --- Gervinho
    Podolski
    Giroud

It's great having the problem of who to leave out for a change. Usually we have to see who isn't injured and pick from what's left!

Has to be Diaby rather than Ramsey to provide assistance to the defence for the long throws and corners.

If fully fit Kos has to be playing as he's our best defender. Between Mert and Vermaelen as to who will play alongside him

Diaby would be better than Ramsey I think. Shields and passes the ball better but I thought he was a bit too slow delivering the pass last week though. I'd keep him in the team for the Stoke game anyway. His height would help when we're defending too.

Giroud, Mertesacker, Jenkinson, Diaby and Vermaelen are all 6ft+ which will be useful for Stoke.

Even then; the only real midgets we have are Arteta [5'9"], Cazorla [5'7"] and Walcott [5'9"] if he plays.

Everyone else is 5'10"+ which is average enough. Poldi is 6ft and so is Ramsey.

Need Szczesny to have a a big game if we're to get a result though. Really need to be in command and control of his area.

That's the very team I'd go for. Nice bit of height. Jenkinson, Vermaelen and Podolski are all 6ft (or slightly taller), while Diaby, Giroud and Mertesacker are all at least 6'3. We could potentially terrify Stoke when talking corners! :pac:

Park to Celta Vigo it seems.

Also, Diaby, this weekend in Stoke? If I had a choice I'd leave him in London. I would not let any of those cnuts near him! Pullis will probably have laser pointers on him for the game so a scud missile makes its move.

Bench Walcott, play Cazorla. We can get some decent balls through the middle and we won't play like a one trick pony with Theo on the side.
