Viking Volunteers Wanted!

    Are you free on the 24th, 25th and 26th September?

    Would you like to become a Viking and help promote Waterford?

    If the answer is yes on both counts, send a PM and let's talk.

    Please note we are looking for volunteers. Transport and lunch will be provided so you won't be out of pocket.

    I'd say it would be a good laugh. My cousin was in that Neil Delamare or whatever you call him, show last year as a viking. He's actually recording up the country somewhere now as a viking for a new show.

    We're looking for men and women to volunteer to be Vikings in a Viking Village that we're setting up at the National Ploughing Championships in New Ross on September 25, 26 and 27th.

    The idea is to promote Waterford - simple as that.

    We'll supply costumes, transport and 20 euro food money per day - so no-one should be out of pocket. The people who are Vikings will be in the Viking Village learning woodwork, learning basket weaving, that kind of thing. It's a settled village with Vikings going about their daily life.

    The Viking interest groups that exist in Waterford are all involved in this project - (Waterford Living History Society, FADO and the crew who made the Viking Longboat).
