Hence why I said 'without exaggeration,' of the cities you mentioned only Paris could justifiably be described as equal in beauty to Rome.

People might leave Rome for a variety of reasons, but in De Rossi's case it appears he has the typical Roman trait of being fiercely proud of his surroundings, and the difference in money obviously doesn't matter that much to him as he's obscenely rich regardless.

I'm really not going to get into an argument about which City is the prettiest, because it's all subjective, and quite irrelevant. Nobody moves to a city for its beauty, you move for work or live.

In fairness you have no idea what De Rossi is thinking. At the moment he has a contract and promise to the club. if they don't show the ambition to challenge, we'll see how long he will stay.

To be fair, if you are looking to facebook comments as an indication of City fans opinions I honestly can't argue. Most comments consist of 'Me like the Tevez Carlos he play good so'. I took it you were posting on here with regard to what City fans have said, of which they have never said anything like that about De Rossi.

I was just going on wages, I'm sure he'd still have his endorsements on top of that.

I don't know how you got PL is better than Serie A from my comment. I stated the PL is an achievement, is it not?

So is coming second worth 5? You do realise that in reality a league title is a league title, you may claim to appreciate it more, but that's jsut opinion.

I know De Rossi wants to stay in Rome, he never said otherwise. I never expected him to leave. He has family settled and the language barrier, but so do umpteen other international players and they seem to manage it.

If you don't think ambition is important in your future captain, that's a worrying sign, he doesn't have to move but if the quality of food matters more than trophies, maybe he should be a chef.

I don't particularly like London, but I'm not going to state it is a rubbish City, because it obviously isn't. It's just not to my taste.

I wasnt clear, I think they can guarantee second easily enough and challenge for the title, at worst come second, like both the manchester clubs. He isnt my future captain either as im not a Roma fan but I have never said ambition isnt important, he clearly thinks along the lines of capello and that a league won in rome is worth more just like Totti when he rejected the move to madrid all those years ago.

You are playing down the quality of food but seriously quality of life plays a much more important role than most people can comprehend. This is why spaniards, italians and germans to some extent never wanted to go to the premier league, the only thing that attracted them recently was the huge influx of cash. With the influx of cash they had immediate success in europe but apart from Chelsea´s miracle win last year I would say the chances of an english side winning has regressed immensely since 08.

To be honest lads, arguing the ins and outs of each city in Europe is a moot point. At the end of the day footballers are people too and some people just don't like change or figure the benefits versus uprooting your family to a different country and culture aren't worth it.

Adebayor done deal for £5m. Good business there imo.
Emmanuel Adebayor has completed his transfer to Tottenham, after agreeing a £5m move from Manchester City.

The Togo striker impressed with 17 Premier League goals during a loan spell last term and, although the clubs agreed a fee last month, the move stalled over a proposed pay-off.

A compromise was finally reached early on Tuesday, paving the way for Adebayor to join Spurs on a permanent basis.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is also keen add a midfielder to his squad.

Where did that come from? I've heard no City fan crying about it?

He's on 6 million a year, rumour had it he would double it, which is a big chunk of change.

Any player with ambition wants medals. PL medal is quite an achievement as is a better prospect at challenging for CL.

Well it's obviously the weather that dictates a cities appeal. Manchester and Liverpool are great cities, and London is one of the best cities in the world.

    C'mon son.

This is abit ranty but it seems to happen everytime a player rejects a move to the premiership, same questions asked about sneijder last season. Sometimes a guy just doesnt want to move to the cold and miserable cities of Manchester, Liverpool and London.

once heard that ribery would never move to a PL team as his wife was unhappy with the weather already in munich & she'd never move to england :pac:

also DoctorGonzo08 didn't lucas call manchester boring recently when linked to united. London would be the only english city to attract people for a lifestyle choice i think

Juve seem happy enough to sell. Back in June they signed Mauricio Isla to play right wing back. I think the feeling is Lichtsteiner is more suited to playing right-back in a back four, but Juve now play 3-5-2, which Isla is more suited to.

QPR have had a bid of £9 Million for Dawson accepted by Spurs.

Spurs are mad selling Dawson he's been great for them .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,554 ✭✭✭✭cson

AVB obviously thinks Caulker is ready to make the step up. If he is then it's great money and a great deal for Spurs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

Dawson has been great for us but he's played very little in the last two years due to long term injuries.

He'd be a super buy for qpr but doesn't have the pace for the game AVB wants to play

Spurs left with Caulker, Kaboul and Vertonghen. Seems a little light for a full season. Gallas still around or am I forgetting someone?

Yeah Gallas in contracted until 2013. I could see him being a handy 4th choice.
Dawson is a good centre back but im not sure if he was going to be given a chance in the team this season with Kaboul, Vertrongen and Caulker ahead of him and 9 mil is a good price for someone who's had injury problems the last 2 years.

Where is the 9m coming from? Anywhere I've read this evening says 5.5m

Sky Sources: QPR bid accepted in region of £9million for Tottenham's Michael Dawson.

Sky reporting is as £5.5 the last time I checked anyway.

Edit: Strange, on my phone app it says £5.5m yet on the actual webpage is says they accepted £9m.

    Ya they updated that.
If Dawson goes it basically means we will have made money on transfers in the last 5 seasons.

But we are still waiting on Modric to go and a replacement to come in so hard to know what the summer will end up like.

QPR seem to be spending a silly amount of money on fairly average players. If they aren't careful I could see them going the way of Portsmouth in a few years time if it all goes wrong.

9 million on an injury prone player like Dawson is mad.

Sensational business by Levy in getting £9m for Dawson.

Adebayor seems to be conceeding with his wage demands and take the pay cut so could be with Spurs very shortly. Apparently Spurs have also bid £10m for Johnson, with Levy coming out and saying he is confident in signing him. Everton, Newcastle, Sunderland and Liverpool all in for him as well.
Where has he said such a thing? I'd be very surprised if this were true, it's well documented that our priorities in the transfer market are strikers (even with Ade), a CM playmaker and a GK. The only place that seems to be carrying the story is The Mirror, so really, it appears to be bs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,991 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Adebayor deal is a good one for all involved. Spurs couldn't go through a season with Defoe as their only senior striker and we wanted rid of him.

Also, 9 million for Dawson would be a superb bit of business.

How is this a good deal for City? Ye payed 25m for him and now selling him for 5m and according to reports City are now still paying 95k of his 175k weekly salary. I fail to see how it's good for City!!!

Keeps the total cost of Adebayor to City under £50m.
