    This is it!
I can't stand the whole diffing buzz in Ireland. It's just play time for people that don't know how to control their cars.

Drifting atleast is generally in a specially put aside area or a track.

People doing stupid sh*t on the roads is what give irish motor enthusiasts a bad name and allow the government to hammer us on taxes and penalties.

Irelands main problem is there are not enough tracks for weekend track daya and the like, if i won the euromillions i would build afew in the a**ehole of nowhere for the craic

I done a PLC but had to wait for the CAO.
you must have done a level 6 or linked course did you?

This will be my first starting in a few weeks. Wasn't arsed putting myself through major stress in the LC so after the new year I decided I wasn't going to fill out my CAO application and just apply for a couple of plc's, ended up getting a mechanics course. :) Was only really expecting to pass 5 subjects in the LC but managed all 7 thankfully.

Is it normal for you to go on boards when you have a pony?? :D

I've been up all night because I just couldn't be arsed sleeping! I[m gonna regret it in a few hours!

6 "In line" intake pipes does not mean the 6 cylinders are in line :) there's 2 banks of three cylinders. You can see that :)

Ah well, I'm due to have my eyes checked next week; seems an unusual display if the cylinders are not in a line too.
In what way is it clearly a straight 6??

If your talking about the manifold venturi tubes(doesn't that sound posh), then there has to be 6 on a V6 too.
    k:

Don't the Venturi make an appearance in that Twi****e stuff? Guess I should skulk off or else buy the car and see what it's like. Not sure for me, whether it has two too many or two too few cylinders. Would be sensible to have one NA car, I guess.

Never heard of the venturi effect, but it's interesting to read up on it.

And here was me thinking the only thing mechanics do during their apprenticeship is oil changes and drink tae

Any link to this anywhere. I've never heard if this before.

I'm in work now so can't type any long explaination of how they make it work in inlet manifolds. Its all about creating pulse waves and using the effect to speed up or slow down the air where its needed.

Just search google for inlet manifold venturi effect and you'll get pages of stuff..

Nothing to see if anyone is seeing this!

Been ringing tyre centers this morning,
whats the story with them not allowing you to buy the tyres you want???
Or at least making you feel really uncomfortable refusing there suggestions??
Theres three or four certain tyres I'm interested in, and I made that very clear when I called these places, yet when they called me back with pricing, only one out of four places gave prices for the tyre i actually wanted and asked them about, armed with answers like "sure why would you need tyres like that, these are twice as good" etc etc. Its true they obviously know more than me about tyres but what happenened to giving the customer what they want??? The tyres I wanted prices for were michelin ps3, goodyear eagle f1, bf goodrich g-force profiler and vredestein ultrac sessanta. rant over

Do the Welches still fit tyres at their garage at the back of French's; imagine they'd source and fit whatever you want for a price!

I know you're in Gorey, but would you be willing to make the trip up to Donnybrook? The Fast Fit there were the only ones that had the Goodyear F1's in stock when I went looking.

Tbh man I wouldnt have the time to make that trip. I'm after ringing another couple of places around wexford now and still nothing, either they wont entertain the fact you want a top end tyre or there charging extortionate prices for them. Think i'll just get the bf goddrich in arklow and give them a try tbh, sick of this now...

The first result on it was this. My thinking of it would have been the same as JohnD's, but I have a found another page which talks of narrowing of ports to increase VE. I've it bookmarked so I'll read it more later on.

Probably a discussion for a thread on its own, but would a venturi not distort the air fuel ratio just before it enters the cylinder?

Gollywog - just order your tyres from Camskill and get them fitted by one of these crowds when they arrive. That way you'll get exactly what you want.

Not a lot of places will fit customer-sourced tyres so beware of that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,102 ✭✭✭✭Drummerboy08

Did you ring top tyres in ardcavan gollywog? I used to use them a lot in a previous life and found them spot on.

Quazzie, if you're interested in that then you might like the comprex supercharger Mazda used in some diesels way back too.
