Watching the game last night in a bar in Krakow. Couldn't believe how bad we were. Simply no ideas up front. It it weren't for De Gea, it would have been 3-0 and that fact is, Everton would have deserved that score line. I said it on the fantasy football thread that I expect Everton to be the team to surprise everyone this season as may even get top 5.

Rooney was abysmal last night. For a footballer to be earning 200k per week, to turn up in such poor shape is an insult to the club. I'd honestly drop him for the Fulham game and give RVP/Kagawa a chance. He needs to learn he is not untouchable. Speaking of Kagawa, he was absolutely superb for us. I actually think that Rooney wasn't able to think as fast as Kagawa was thinking. He is incredibly dangerous 25-30 from goal given his ability to thread a pass.

Nani was a fcuking joke last night also. Can't blame the defense really given the fact that Val and Carrick were oop. Can see Raf at RB and Valencia back to regular position v Fulham.

We normally do well vs Fulham so hoping for 3 points.

Agree with the poster who already mentioned this, I can't understand Van Persie taking the corners, he should be in the box.

Didn't Drogba take most of Chelsea's corners, it's not that unusual.

We need better delivery from corners and have other players who will get on the end of them.

City sign Rodwell and are now rumoured to be in for De Rossi...but sure we've got "Ando" and Tom Cleverley!

Linked with St Etienne's teenage man mountain CB Kurt Zouma in the last few days.

Fellaini wouldn't be winning many headers from him. Big unit for a 17 year old (guy in the middle).

No way De Rossi will leave Roma.

De Rossi is supposedly announcing today that he is going to stay at Roma

Comparing situations is not comparing skill and ability.

Well why even bring them into a conversation about Rooney then. In a way you were actually comparing their ability to Rooneys but whatever my point still stands that he isnt being pushed hard enough for his place in the team, and the fact he knows he is guaranteed to play isnt going to help him buck up anytime soon.

It may have already been mentioned here too, but did anyone think Vidic is looking very gaunt? He looks to have lost a lot of his bulk.

There seems to be a big misconception that Vidic was ever big and bulky because he was strong in the tackle on the deck and in the air. He was never big. He was strong yes but is and always has been of an athletic build.

It's to be expected with the amount of cardio he would have been doing to get back to match fitness after such a long injury. He would have had to cut his daily calorie count which would result in muscle loss. Now that he's back training and playing he'll be able to go back to his normal diet and increase bulk over the next month or two

To the best of my knowledge that's not quite how it works. He would of been hitting the weight room hard more so than cardio.

Plus hes back training quite a while in anyway.

But as I said earlier he was NEVER big in a muscular sense.

For all the Fellaini love, the fella has had plenty of ****e games for Everton. One big performance against us and he's suddenly the answer to our prayers?? Come onnnnnn....

one performance? f8ck right off, alot of people on here have been singing his praises all summer saying he was the ideal signing, he is perhaps the most effective player at single handidly destroying teams in the PL.

the man cost us the league title last season. perhaps the most underrated player right now in the league and he showed it last night, again. lots of players play lots of s*ite games too you know.

Rooney has 85 goals in the last three seasons. If he is a bad player who has been poor for a long time now he is doing a good job hiding it.

Serious over reactions after one game. A tough away game I might add.

The point was Rooney was sh1te last night, has been for some time now and gets away with it because there is nobody to actually push him for his place in the team and he knows this too so is obviously relaxing a little too much. So no hoping the point gets lost here.

    Utter rubbish.

I like Fellaini an awful lot and have wanted him at Utd for a long time but I think a lot of prople that have jumped on the bandwagon lately are a bit ill-informed as to his actual skillset.

Never said he was a bad player simply said he was crap last night and has been for sometime now, and by crap I mean he is nowhere near as good as he can be. Dont think anyone can argue with that.

If you read the previous ManUtd superthreads, you will see many wanted Fellaini at ManUtd before he destroyed us at OT.

Fellaini is closer to being the most overrated player in the EPL than the most underrated. He's class in the air and likes a tackle, can be very effective as a front player against the right opposition, but isn't really all that close to top class at midfield.

I know that. But this idea that he's some kind of Yaya Toure clone based on him destroying makshift defenders by getting on the end of incesant long balls is typical knee jerk stuff from the likes of homerjay who has probably seen him play once or twice outside United games.

He's not a clone but he's a big phisical guy that can play the ball there are similarities

Disappointing, but we always start slow. Some major problems still exist from last year namely us being a bit timid (especially carrick) and not liking being pressed in the game.

De Gea - 9 MOM. Could have been 4-0 if it wasn't for him

    Valencia - 5 Not a right back
Carrick - 4 Not a centre back, but I just wished he would have let Fellini know he was there by challenging him or giving a good push at times to put him off.
Vidic - 7 Good to have him back
    Evra - 4 Not a left back

    Nani - 3 Brainless
Cleverley - 6 Lots of energy.
Kagawa - 8 Sexy at times
    Scholes - 5.5 Getting old
Welbeck - 5 Bambi on ice

Rooney - 2 Dreadful. Fat, terrible touch and THAT header. Maybe scoring him 2 was generous. Worst player on the pitch by a mile

    RVP - n/a
    Young - n/a
    Anderson n/a - looked chunky

Quiet possible the worst review/ratings I've ever seen, and I've read some rags.

Not sure who said he is kind of Yaya, but he will be very handy player for us. In the midfield full of midgets and physically not so strong, he will be much needed addition as he improves our first team easily. We need a player who can win the ball and he is very good at it.

Yes the similarities are that they are both big guys who can play the ball. But if that's the measuring stick you use for a good midfielder why not just move Vidic in there or even DeGea as they have the same attributes.
There is much more to consider besides size and passing ability

I believe I alluded to the fact that I hope RVP will get up to speed in order to give him the push he needs.

Because Vidic and De Gea are not midfielders and Fellaini is and damn good one.

Good that you stopped with at least footballers, for a min I thought you will add David Gill too.

skillset is one, effectiveness is another and in two huge games now, he has tore united a new one. last night wasnt a fluke by any means, and his performance in the 4-4 was one of the best ive seen by an opposition player ever at OT and ive seen 100+ games there over the past decade.

People saying fellaini is the answer to our problems really arnt thinking things through. Hed be a good bit part player for when all else failed and we are deploying the long ball.
We need a defensive midfielder that can play a simple pass. Not a big target man that can knock long ball down. A decent physical defense like stoke for example would have made ****e out of him .
He shines against united because in the last game we had no vidic to pick him up. He shone last night because for some stupid reason vidic was letting carrick look after him all Night.

    I understand that.

My point was that by using size and passing ability as the only measuring stick to rate midfielders is pointless as there is so much more to thier game than that.

Take Fellaini for instance, you would have to look at his tackling, aerial ability, engine, composure etc to have a true understanding of how good he is.
