Scoring goals does not equal playing well and I never questioned his goal scoring record.

If Rooney was recognised as a fox in the box like RVN, Romario, Inzaghi or whoever and he scored 34 goals in a season, 27 of those in the league and a good portion of them at vital times against the toughest opposition they would rightly be hailed as having played well.
You also said that today wasn't a display that showed our weakness in midfield. It was a perfect example of what we were lacking.
    How?

I have been more critical of our midfield than any other person on this thread and I have been criticising our midfield since Roy Keane got sacked, so I'm not shy of criticizing the midfield. But when the opposition dominate us with long balls to their big centre forward and we manage to pass the ball around midfield well when in possession and dominate the possession I can recognise that tonight, midfield wasn't the problem.

he said it was a good game we played well enough

Fair enough if he wants to spoof to the media to protect his players, but saying that we played well enough is laughable really.

    We were sh1te tonight.

A quick look at the passing charts fir the midfielders tomorrow will settle ghe debate about forward passing fairly fast.

Not unless they have developed proper data collection that takes all the different factors of midfield passing into account it won't.

Did Fergie give a post match interview at all?

Gave an interview to MUTV alright yeah, just said he was happy with how the team applied themselves and thought they controlled the game, played some great football at times, just lacked cutting edge.

    Stuff like that

They will at least settle thd simple argument over whether forwatd passes were made or not.

That is too simple an argument to for anybody to bother with though. If a central midfielder passes the ball forward only when in space then he doesn't help his team out by dragging the opposition out of position before he releases the ball. Even the poor central midfielders can have decent enough looking forward passing numbers. The key is if the CMs are taking the ball when under pressure and still passing it forward.

    I'm gutted.

    Good night Folks.

    A horrible evening.

EDIT: Just stuck €20 on Kagawa at 40/1 to win PFA Player of the Year.

I think we all know that for sure but I somehow doubt he spoke the same way to the players in the dressing room.

SAF: “I don’t think any of them [Ferdinand, Evans, Smalling, Jones] will be fit for Saturday.”

Wahey! Who will rape us in the air against Fulham then?

    Paddy Power.

They didn't have him priced up at all when I checked a few days ago. Checked Ladbrokes then and he was 25/1. Had a look tonight, saw the Powers price and took it.

I think that it's a ridiculous price TBH.

Modric is 25/1! Hazard is 11/1. Ashley Young is 33/1!!!

Who is this Soros chap that has bought into the club? Anyone know much about him?

Thanks. It took them an age to include him. I checked a few weeks ago and he wasn't even listed.

I missed Fergusons pre match interview. Could anyone tell me why Hernandez wasn't on the bench. Has he a slight knock?

He makes Roman look like a pauper:D
Don't know why he is buying these shares ,I doubt he would be looking to buy the club off the glaziers but would be easily able to afford it.he is supposed to have given over 8 billion away to different charities/foundations over the years.

This Soros chap has only bought 8% of the class A shares which only gives him about 0.4% of the whole club.

    Nope.

It's true that the Class A shares don't have the voting rights that the Class B shares do. But in the event of an overall sale, broadly speaking both classes rank pari passu (i.e. Class A and Class B shareholders would get the same price per share). The main difference between the two classes of shares is the lack of dividend and voting rights attaching to the Class A shares. It's therefore accurate to say that George Soros now owns 7.85% of the club.

As an aside he's connected with John Magnier and JP McManus which should thrill Fergie to bits...

Another problem to add to our midfield woes. Now we can't even spell our own players names.

United have announced there will be three jerseys for him this season, each bearing a variant of his name....

I'm pissed, and I'm pissed off.....

de Gea and Kagawa were our best players tonight, by a country mile..... de Gea is going to be (maybe already is) one of our most important players.

    Rooney, Nani were shocking, tbf.

    I'm going to bed.

    FSake.

It's not meant to be funny and I certainly don't find having a complete waste of space playing for United a laughing matter. I'm using a visual medium to express an opinion on a total failure. If you wish to critic the quality of my Photoshop skills, then pop over to the weekly Photoshop thread and sample some of my work there. Why don't you even join us over there and demonstrate you master of Photoshop to us mere amateurs.

    Nah, I'll pass thanks.

It's critique by the way, not critic.

By the same token, you could join Anderson at Old Trafford and demonstrate your mastery of football to those mere amateurs ;)
