Forget Sahin, Strootman, Sneijder, Dembele, Kaka and any other MF/CM in the world.

Fellaini is now the only CM I would like to see us sign. He single handedly bossed the game, he swept our midfeild aside like it wasn't here. He's got it all, good feet, good headers, EPL experience and that haircut.

Ferguson has lost it if he thinks Tom Cleverley is the answer to our midfield problems.

    Ha.

Haven't you heard, Tom Cleverly is world class, anybody who can't see that obviously doesnt watch football.

    Absolute buzzkill of a result.

Everton played their balls off defensively, so imo a lot of this result goes to them being good rather than us being bad.

Rooney had a nightmare for the first hour, started to manage to link up a bit after that.
Nani and Welbeck were both poor, but Everton are great at cutting off supply to the wingers, so I'll cut them a little slack.
Evra and Valencia were poor going forward as well.
Scholes and Cleverly were okay. Everton did great work pressing them but they still managed to move the ball around well enough, the problem was more in the final third.
Kagawa was fantastic. Any ball that came anywhere near him he managed to control and pass to a team mate. He is an unreal player. It's ridiculous that he might well not be playing in that central attacking position for a lot of games this season.
DDG did well. Vidic did well - which is a big relief. Carrick did his best playing out of position against the afro monster.
RVP was quiet when he came on (I nearly forgot to mention him here), but I wouldn't worry about that. I wonder will he start next game.

People saying that we won't win the league without improving the central midfield are overreacting. As long as we get any sort of luck with injuries over the course of the season we will be close enough at the business end of the season.

De Gea rooted to the spot and flapped and flopped at every cross and corner. class shot stopper just not a class keeper- united won't win the league with him between the sticks!

Well that was a pile of absolute sh*te. Such a downer after all the excitement of the last week in signing rvp etc, to be playing catch up in the league already.

De Gea and Kagawa the only positives, a lot of negatives.

Said it after the 4-4 and its even more obvious now, we should throw money at Everton for Fellaini, he absolutely dominated us from start to finish yet again, he's a great all round player and is a hugely physical box to box midfielder, something we've lacked for quite a while. If we had 30m+ to bid for Lucas or Hazard then try and go for Fellaini, he'd improve the Man Utd team far more than the other 2 would.

Kagawa is too intelligent and quick for Rooney to handle! Kagawa was brilliant.

De Gea had a very good game.

Even RVP couldn't get past the first feckin' defender with a corner. I've seen the Ireland U17 girls take better ****ing corners than these professionals.

    Everton's tackling was fantastic tonight.

    Rooney is unfit
    Fergie should drop him imo

    Rooney was rubbish last year,

He scored 34 goals last season. Even if he did nothing else that would mean he had a good season. You need to give yourself a slap.

    Another thing.

Why in the name of God was Michael Carrick marking Fellaini for the goal? Could we not have given ourself a better chance by putting Vidic on him? I know Fellaini beat out Vidic on a number of occasions, but I would fancy myself in an aerial 50/50 with Michael Carrick (who I thought did well, not having a go at him).

He plays out of his skin every time he plays utd, he can look very ordinary in other games though, never performs against liverpool, I'm open to correction there. I don't know is he top top player that utd need.

The only positives from tonight were the performance of de gea who looks like he's brought last seasons excellent performances into this season , vidic who looks as if he'll be as good as he ever was after another few games, and kagawa seems to have brought another dimension to our attacking tactics.
But the main positive for me tonight was the glaringly obvious fact United need a central midfielder and it was laid bare in front of fergies eyes and there's still lots of time to get in the player we badly need. Someone with fight, someone good in the air and good on his feet , someone who obviously has pride in the jersey. Stand up mr fellaini.
United will bounce back as they have done so often in the past, they may very well win the next 6 games in a row but stevie wonder could tell you that tom clev and ando are just not good enough.

    Shocking.

De Gea and Kagawa were very good.

The midfield completely overrun. Cleverley exposed. Unfair to expect Scholes to cover that much ground in what was effectively a two man midfield. Everytime we go with two against three in midfield, we get overrun.

Basic stuff from guys like Nani and Evra...crosses not clearing the first man.

Rooney clearly not fit. How?! Why?!

Fergie is wrong wrong wrong 100% wrong re midfield.

Poor start to the season but it's only day 1. Credit due to Everton for the way they played. Plenty of positives in the passing tonight, especially Kagawa. Onwards and upwards from here boys!

Kag was beyond fantastic. Quite weird seeing RVP in our kit.

Fulham at home next. LETS BE AVIN YOU

    Eh, significant news...

George Soros has purchased 7.85% of Manchester United.

Yer not too bad, ye have a relatively handy run of games coming up.

Kagawa was very impressive tonight, looked completely in control and always looking for the ball.

Rooney was poor tonight, a typical performance from him which we've seeing many times before. Fergie won't be afraid to drop him and with RVP he has plenty of options up front which will allow him to make that decision.

Scholes and Cleverley i don't think can work together.

We need a ball winner, someone who can kick a few people and doesn't get shoved off the ball so easy. I've mentioned Felliani name a few times over the years. No doubt we could have got him cheap this summer before Rodwell moved, Everton need the money we all know that. I can guarantee he won't be at Everton to much longer.

Apparently he's given away 8 billion over the years to charities. I hope someone tells him that we're a charity as well and we'd like a few billion if he doesn't mind.

f*cking fellaini, I don't give a shit how much we've spent already this summer, sign him up, even just to stop him from destroying us every time we play everton!

Rooney should be made play on the left until he bucks up his general play.

Another problem to add to our midfield woes. Now we can't even spell our own players names.

I really don't get all the Cleverley hate on here. What exactly do you expect him to do? He had Scholes and Kagawa along siðe him. None of the 3 are defensively minded.

Also Nani was brutal tonight no doubt. But people calling for him to be sold? I mean wtf???????

    Buzzkill result alright.

I hate Monday night games and I hate Fellaini playing against us. During the week I thought he would be missing or at least injured enough to keep him quiet.

I still have high hopes for the season ahead.

Thought Cleverley was good, particularly in the first half.

Playing Valencia at right back with Rafael on the bench is lolbad, especially when Nani is so bad.
