Ferguson has lost it if he thinks Tom Cleverley is the answer to our midfield problems.

Rooney, Valencia, Nani, Carrick, Vidic, Evra, Cleverley, Scholes and Welbeck we're complete sh1te. Kagawa and De Gea were very good.

Rooney was rubbish last year, rubbish at the Euros and is carrying on a very poor run of matches. He looked sluggish in pre-season too.

But most of all Ferguson was terrible. Bad subs, bad formation, bad tactics and wrong players.

Nani Rooney evra absolute rubbish. Nani and Rooney didn't even look interested . De gea and kagawa very good. Good return by vidic. Let nobody criticise carrick. He was playing out if position and did as well as he could. Any centre half struggles with fellaini. If only nani and Rooney had the attitude of carrick and tony v tonight.

Bad result but that's an awful away fixture and nobody will get it easy there. We ll still be challenging but nani and Rooney need such a serious root up the ****in hole

Hmmm to duck out of here before massive panic & overreactions or not.......
    Rooney was muck and unfit
    Nani & Evra played horribly.

At the same time Fellani was absolutely unplayable tonight and Everton overall played out of their skins. We wont be the only team dropping points there this year.

Delighted to see DDG start the season well and Kags touches and overall play were great. He seems to be a big fan of quick backheels and maybe a Rooney not playing like a marshmallow could actually read and react to them better.

Anyone have any idea how long until we actually have a defense again?

    Rooney looks completely unfit.

Credit to Everton, they were immense.

I am not sure how RVP is going to adopt to not being the main man as he was at Arsenal.

I'll also say I HATE how teams just go so utterly defensive against United. I get that its a fair tactic and obviously works against us. But for a team who had such a positive first hour and who could have kept going and scored more, Everton were quite happy to sit back and defend their small lead. I wish teams wouldn't be so cowardly. It's so frustrating >_<

Terrible performance, only positives were De Gea and Kagawa

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,450 ✭✭✭Quandary

Rooney was just awful tonight. Worst player in a utd shirt IMO
Kagawa was very good, he's gonna be a great signing for us is season.
    Valencia was quite poor
Nani was terrible, very frustrating to watch.
RVP didn't really get to do much aside from a nice link up with Kagawa

Everton were very good defensively. Fellaini was about as good as it gets IMO. H was so dominating. All 3 of our cms couldn't handle him together. He was always gonna dominate the airial battles against 3 players all of whom are 5' 9" or under.

Tonight we were on the receiving end of just how effective a good steely box to box midfielder can be :(.

Fellaini was so impressive tonight. That's twice he has almost single handedly demolished us.

Found out in midfield again, surprise surprise.

Uhhhh dunno where to start. Just can't understand how fergie thinks what we have in center of midfield is enough. Everton controled that game fellini destroyed us everytime that ball was played into him. They defended like beasts seriously amount of ball we had after they scored and could barely get a shot on goal. We need the defense bk soon as possible so we can have everyone bk in proper positions. Rooney needs to get his ****ing act in gear and I wish to god nani could make up his mind superstar or bloody average.

Just pray we get in some kinda half decent cm before end August or else where just not good enough simple as.

I honestly think we're more dangerous from a goal kick than a corner kick. Absolute rubbish.

so will it be another 5, maybe 10, maybe even 20 years before we sign a midfielder. the worst thing is some united fans aren't too upset about losing. Same sh*t as last season. cleverley should not play in the same team as scholes. far too similar players. the failure to rectify the same problems that were there last season is the most disappointing thing, lack of a defensive midfielder and evra, f**king evra, need i say anymore. Vidic, Kagawa and Vidic kept us in that match. I know Ferguson is one of the best managers of all time but god how can you let this go on and on.

Aye, same. I've been wanting him for ages. He's too good, but after that performance, his price probably went up about 5m

The pedestal that Nani is on in this thread has always confused me. He can really wrecked my head. I don't have any pride in him as a United player.
Evra looking his usual self tonight. Sigh.
And what is Rooneys problem now! Time to give up the chips.

Cleverley was very good tonight. Kagawa is my new favourite player. And make shift defenders cost us dearly. The result doesn't depress me, its the lack luster swagger United play with that gets me down.

    I'm sad now.

Well considering it was only 1 year out of 8 that he was the main man,I'm sure he'll cope.

Great passing & possession with nothing in the final third. I didn't think the scoring was something we'd struggle with, especially when you look at the attackers we have.

De Gea was immense. Would of been 2 or 3 nil if it wasn't for him. Kagawa was also great. Passing was perfect, and had great movement. The only 2 who can have some bit of pride.

Rooney isn't fit. Had a terrible game. Nani also terrible. His corners were so poor. Evra must of attempted about 6 crosses and didn't get one of them in the bloody box.

    Rafael should of been RB.

    Everyone else was meh.

Everton were magnificent. Totally deserved the win. Fellaini had balls won before they were even crossed. Absolute beast.

It's a tough loss but we'll get over it. Onward and upward from here.

    Van Persie out!!

    :pac:

Ah well lads, we normally start very slow so no surprises here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,521 ✭✭✭Giggsy11

Fellaini was so bored of winning headers, he started to chest it and bring it down.

We don't normally lose our first game and get out played by Everton....

    Thoughts after that:

    1. Kagawa was our best player, incredibly composed, looks to have no problems adjusting to the PL. Has to start every game imo.

    2. De Gea was solid as usual. Kept us in it for the first half, a different goalie from this time last year.

    3. Rooney was brutal, and has been all pre-season. Looked slow and un-fit. Needs to buck up his game, tbh I wouldn't be against dropping him, might give him a kick up the @rse.

    4. Today really highlighted the need for a CM. Cleverly and Scholes were far too open defencively, better teams than Everton will punish this. I stand by my opinion from the start of the summer that we should throw serious money at Fellani.

    5. Nani, oh dear. I get the feeling this game was his chance to cement his place in the team, and boy did he let that chance slip. Evra was also awful, looked like he couldn't give a sh!te.

    6. Vidic looked like he hadn't missed a game, very encouraging.

Overall some encouraging signs, and no need for doom and gloom yet. Bear in mind we were missing four centre halves. Everton away is a very tough place to go.

Better team won. Had it been 3-0 I would not have complained.

I am going to put it down to minor blip for now.

Lets hope we get or act together in coming weeks.

    Rooney looks completely unfit.

Credit to Everton, they were immense.

    Was that what it was?

Because it was an absolute joke the way he performed. Competition for places is now tougher than ever and Rooney and Nani took a big horrible ****e on their chances tonight. Rooney was a clumsy oaf and looked totally out of ideas. Nani was going to have "one of those nights" when he flipped his **** over a goal-kick in the 2nd min. It WAS a corner, now **** up and get back in position.

Shinji Kagawa looked like he dropped down to play with the reserves at times, he was absolutely brilliant. A cut above all other outfield players. Rooney would want to get his ****ing act together or there will be calls for Kagawa behind Van Persie as our attacking 2.

I knew this would be tough. But AGAIN Fellaini has decided to rape us in a way I have only seen Torres, Kaka and Ronaldo do before. We just can't deal with him, and it's OUR problem. Why isn't Fellaini up for the Ballon d'Or with Messi and Ronaldo? Because Stoke deal with him, Liverpool deal with him, Newcastle deal with him, half the ****ing teams in the league can nullify him, yet he takes the field against United and all crumbles before him. Myself and Homerjay have been saying it would be important to sign Fellaini, ****ing hell, give them £30m just so we never have to play the **** again.

We need to bounce back against Fulham, it's a huge game now. If Rooney pulls his head out of his arse and we can give the ball to Shinji as much as possible, we'll be fine. A centre back to play with Vidic would be nice too.

    Summary:
    Kagawa, De Gea: Excellent.
Clev, Carrick and Valencia (considering position), Scholes: Ok.
    Evra, Vidic, Welbeck: Poor.
Nani, Rooney: Should be made walk back to Manchester.

I'd love if we signed the Belgian midfield. Fellaini,Dembele,Witzel and Defour.

The bright side is that the lack of a steely centre mid has been laid bare. We have plenty of options in attack and in defence, but we have next to nothing for the middle of the pitch.

    Team for the Fulham game:

    de Gea

    Rafael - Wootton - Vidic - Evra

    Carrick - Scholes

    Valencia --- Kagawa --- Young

    van Persie

I'd drop Nani, Cleverley and Rooney on the basis of tonight's performance. Nani and Rooney in particular should be ashamed of themselves. I'd even be inclined to drop Evra if not for the fact that his replacement is so fresh. I think we need to go with Wootton in defence for the next game. We need Carrick in midfield and he's clearly not a centre back. We had absolutely no physical presence in midfield.

There seemed to be a real lack of energy up front tonight. All night Wellbeck, Rooney and Nani (who was really poor) were looking for ball played to their feet rather than mixing it up and making runs behind the defence (which Hernandez on form is very good at).

We were just very slow and easy to defend against.

Kagawa was excellent but the other players up front weren't on his wave length. Van Persie and Kagawa could link up very well.

The lack of a physical presence throughout the field was also very noticeable.

With all that, it is just 1 match out of 38 and Everton were excellent, really well organised.

Calm the f*ck down lads.Leave the knee jerking to the plebs across in the LFC thread. We looked decent in possession but lacked a cutting edge. With the options we have a cutting edge wont be long found. A mere blip.If we had a centreback marking Fellaini fir the goal we' d all be reflecting in a hard won point.

    Pros
    -Degea saved our blushes
    -Kagawa looks a wonderful player
-Cleverley and Vidic had decent games

    Cons
    -Nani wants to leave
-Whats the point of Welbeck so far from a top striker at the moment its shameful
    -Evra still dirt

I want to see that already. When RVP came on you could see him constantly moving around and between defenders but Kag seemed to be the only one actually lifting his head when he had the ball

I'm also going to say, fair play to Anderson. At least he had the guts to take a ****ing shot; even if it went wide, at least he tried, which is more than Rooney did most of the night...
