I'm not really buying some of the things being said about van Persie (never be as good as he was last season, injury prone, etc.)

He could well be a massive success with United, he's in the form of his life and he hasn't had any major injury issues in 18 months or so, he's after coming through a season where he played 37 out of 38 league games, he never got more gametime than he did last season and he came through it unscathed so it can be argued that his injury problems are behind him.

He was until the last ~6 weeks or so of last season, didn't do much towards the end. He has a poor Euros too. Who knows what kind of form he'll be in at the start of this season. Let's just hope it's muck.

You're right, but for those 6 or so weeks I felt at the time that he had made his decision that he wanted to go. It seemed as though his heart was no longer in it and he was anonymous in a few games, and some of his post game interviews indicated that he wasn't going to stay.

I'd love to see him flop at United! I'm just highly doubtful, change of scenery might renew the old motivation and he could be right back on form unfortunately.

Now now he got us champions league football this season

You also have to think about all the usefull training rvp gave the medical staff over his arsenal "career"

3rd paragraph down. Seems they have given up on M'Vila, wonder will he come our way instead.

The majority of people feel RvP is a Cock, but we got decent money for him and we'll move on. Song could be gone to Barca, no one really knows what the story is but some believe we'll be grand with Coq to step up to the mark as a DM if he does go while others feel an experienced soul should be brought in from the money generated by the sale of Song.

And people are generally excited for this season to begin with the new Arsenal 2.0! :)

    • disgust at RVP going to united
    • hopes of him getting injured
    • sick of being a selling/feeder club
    • good price for RVP considering, nothing the club could do about it
    • repeat above points
    • still a good transfer window overall vs. no it's not when your selling your best player to a rival
    • interlude: looking forward to the sunderland game
    • a prediction game was run by *i forget* to lighten the mood, increase moral :pac:
    • song possibly going too, some aghast at this, others couldn't give a toss as long as a replacement is signed
    • a slight chance of still getting sahin

You make a lot of bold claims like you're more 'in the know' than the rest of us. What's your source, because without us knowing that you may as well be one of a million other twitter users that spout 'insider knowledge'? Not a dig, genuinely wondering.

Ever notice that if you rearrange the letters of 'emergingstar', you get 'Giles Grimandi'

it's more that liverpool haven't signed him yet - i still think he'll end up at Anfield. Mourinho will have the final say.

And Mourinho doesn't give a bollocks either way I'd say, once the destination club are paying 100% of his wages. Sahin will go for the CL club, of course.

    Probably niether.

He'll be respectful towards Arsenal, but say he wanted to win trophies.

    Wenger press conference:
    John Cross ‏@johncrossmirror
AW said: "we didn't to sell to direct rival. But we've already invested the money. We have massive squad and I believe we have whts needed.'
    Arsenal.com ‏@Arsenal
Wenger on squad: 'If you look at the number of players we have a massive squad. We have what is needed to be ambitious'
    Arsenal.com ‏@Arsenal
TEAM NEWS: Wenger will assess Cazorla/Walcott, Koscielny ruled out with calf strain, Chamberlain injured too
Wenger on Song rumours and possible new signings: 'Both could happen... but my focus is on the Sunderland game'
    John Cross ‏@johncrossmirror
AW on Song and players coming happen: 'both can happen. We have 6 or 7 players in midfield, we have much more freedom to make decisions.'
    John Cross ‏@johncrossmirror
By Wenger standards, that's a see you later, Alex Song. We can do without you. #afc
    John Cross ‏@johncrossmirror
Why was RvP allowed to run down contract? Wenger said: "it takes two sides to sign a contract. If you have one. That doesn't want to sign..'

Wenger asked about #afc being 14/1 for title. AW: 'in your position, I'd do it.'

Welp, I'm betting the house on them now.

Wenger: 'The new captain is Vermaelen and [the vice-captain is] Arteta. We have many potential captains in this team'

Wenger sy no decision made on Song and says no bid yet from Barca. When asked on talks: 'can't tell u more.' admits he is 'following' Sahin

As a united man I am praying you will take sahib over lfc lol..

Think the RVP was good business for arsenal 25 million euro or get one more year and get nothing for him?? It was very smart by wenger tbh and a great deal for united

It could be great or terrible for United, I think. Depends on how he holds up.

Lads, hypothetically, where will Sahin play?

Assume Song is not sold, and Song is sold (if you know what I mean, 2 different formations/line ups).

The way things have gone over the past few years, we better pray all the players have an average season because as soon as they have a good season, they always seems to be looking elsewhere.

    Next up; the Walcott circus.

I've been working the voodoo doll.

Expect some 'final destination' type scenario breakdown.

I don't want injury per se. That would be wrong. But like. Some sort of cold or sneezing fit during every single crucial goalscoring opportunity.

I'd presume beside arteta where jack would play
