Song's agent seems to be the problem because the player has stated that he wants to stay. He is meeting Wenger tomorrow and I expect that he will announce he's staying.

Isn't he another on Darren Dein's books?

Fabregas, van Persie, now Song - let's have no more Darren Dein players on our books.

haha oh right, I just got that impression from reading your posts. Putting 2 and 2 together and making 5 I suppose :)

Yes but i think Song is true to the manager and the club. He is 24 years old, has a great engine and is very solid. Wenger knows that and would not sell for 15m because it would cost more to replace him and the replacement would hardly be as good. Also why would Song go to Barca to sit on a bench? This would be a case of lose/lose.

Yeah, don't see them dropping Busquets, which is where I'd reckon he plays.

I am actually believing he will leave for some reason, hope I'm wrong, but just something telling me he's going.

The only reason I can see it would be a good move for him is if he was going for more money and he really doesn't mind picking up potential medals while being a bit part player.

I don't think he would be happy with that.

Don't think so unless something occurred between them regarding RVP's departure. He and Song were close. I'm hoping sense will prevail.

Will be very surprised if Song is at the club come end of transfer window, DD has a way of engineering moves for players. Song is reportedly not the most calming of people in the dressing room and the club are said to be willing to ship him out. Huge things expected of Coquelin within the club along with the emergence of Gnabry over the next couple years

how is all my fellow gooners today after the departure of RVP to man utd?I was gutted yesterday but im not too bad today. I think wenger had no choice and the club had to sell.I reckon too after last summers transfer debacle with nasri and fabregas that enough is enough and if a player wants to leave no point flogging a dead horse.
Would love if we signed one or two more players before deadline today.could be a silver lining yet lads lets kep our fingers crossed!

Just to add to above post, Gnabry is thought to be the best prospect to come through the club in the last 5 years including Wilshere

None of those boys are ready for first team football yet. They should be eased into the team gradually and not rushed.

I agree Tayto re Gnabry, but I imagine we will see Gnabry go out on loan next season and bedded into the team the following. To be honest I think that Le Coq is ready. Having watched him in action at the Emirates a couple times last season he seems ready provided his hamstrings stay intact

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,531 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Is Gnabry not a winger anyway?

I can see Arteta being given the DM role if Song does go. We can't put our faith in Diaby with his injury record either. I can't see Wenger trusting in Coq yet. He will be good in time but when he did play there he was just average my opinion. We have 6 away games in the first 8 matches and I just cannot see Song being allowed go without a really good and experienced replacement.

What about Eisfeld he did his chances no harm whatsoever in pre-season, technically sound and an eye for goal!

Yeh he looked very good in pre season but I dont think hes ready could have a bright future at the club but a loan spell could work wonders.

have a read/look at this http://twitter.com/LeGrove about Song, starting from 9/10 hours ago & work up, might give you a different opinion about song or at least a different perspective on the situation

i posted the quotes a few pages back.

now i don't really give some of these types a lot more credit/importance than anyone on here say, but some of them know whats going on more than most, whether this crowd do or not idk maybe someone else will

also it be 5 away games/8 not 6, makes it a bit better :D

people reckon he'll get a good few games due to the size of barca's squad, & that keita, who he's effectively replacing in the squad got games

+ it's barca, you'd count on your hand the players who'd turn them down

He doesn't know anymore than anyone else.He just has a blog and a flair for self promotion. It's just his opinion.

Wenger needs to put Song firmly in his place. Tell him if he doesn't behave he'll sell him to Anzhi Mak(aww I give up):D

..and he didn't learn of yesterday's news any earlier than the rest of us. So much for his 'contact'.

With all due respects that's just a bunch of lads like ourselves discussing Arsenal while some of them are pretending to have inside information. I don't buy that at all.

there seems to be two camps regards song with arsenal fans & i figured which one they were in after this tweet :pac:
Alex Song move looking ever more likely. Good riddance. Let's hope we bring in someone who can do a proper defensive midfield job.

what are they like for reliability or should that be credibility?

they make some pretty strong claims about him & him leaving whether they like him or not though

don't know if it's been said already but Santi scored for Spain today. Hoping he gets a game at the weekend even if its just a sub appearance.

They do know people in the club, I know he has played rounds of golf with Liam Brady (who surely wouldn't leak information, now there's a Gunner through and through). Having said that, I've never heard them report something before anyone else or get a scoop so to speak...

There are a lot of vibes saying Song is leaving, so easy to jump on that bandwagon and pretend you've a "man at the club."

I'm not really buying some of the things being said about van Persie (never be as good as he was last season, injury prone, etc.)

He could well be a massive success with United, he's in the form of his life and he hasn't had any major injury issues in 18 months or so, he's after coming through a season where he played 37 out of 38 league games, he never got more gametime than he did last season and he came through it unscathed so it can be argued that his injury problems are behind him.

He obviously won't score as many as United won't be set up to supply him in the way that Arsenal were but United will without a shadow of doubt be a better team with him. Rooney and RVP up front is frightening. The sad thing is that we had probably built a stronger squad than Uniteds ahead of this season but now they've jumped right back ahead of us, if they pick up a decent midfielder in the meantime then I would totally write off our chances of finishing ahead of United.

We had better sign another player or two (AND shift the deadwood) because it seemed to be going well this summer, three good signings and talk of more to come and many of us were daring to dream again. Now; Our captain and most important player has legged it for the second summer in a row and we're facing a battle to keep Song and we have yet to resolve the Walcott issue. Sahin appears to have slipped through our grasp and M'Vila could end up at Tottenham for crying out loud!

It was going so well this summer but its starting to have that frustrating feeling of countless summers gone by once more.

Oh, and Darren Dein is a cancer. Don't want Song to go but it would be worth it just to cut all ties with that slimeball.

    yeah suppose,

but the attitude from song is the interesting part about it, it's one good reason that wenger would sell if true.

john cross who's a journo/arsenal supporter/supposed to be well connected at the club even said it's totally arsenal/wenger's choice to sell song or not because of the length of his contract.

well since that's the case, if barca's VP was in london, what the hell was he doing there?
    there's something in this anyway
