When I see them run I FREAK THE FCUK OUT!! Horrible things!

Edit: Isn't there a scientific explanation as to why humans fear spiders? Thought I read that on boards once...

Probably because they could be dangerous. You're better of running than getting a poisonous bite. Therefore anyone who always ran from spiders would have an evolutionary advantage?

My sister hates them but I don't mind them too much. Even the big black guys that leave footprints in the carpet. And sometimes they carry knives...

I just pick them up and throw them out the window.

That's it, it like a fear of snakes. Either could be dangerous and it's not dependant on the size

Oh god I'm freaked. the photo of the one in the kitchen is horrible. They are the ones I get in the apartment.

They may stay hidden otherwise they'll be getting squished by a shoe. I'm not even brave enough to kill them actually, they know it as well. :( they are so bloody fast its creepy. If I see one I will scream the place down and ring someone with a penis to come get rid of it

The best ones are the bird eating spiders in Queensland!!
Yes, correct, bird eating spiders!! I had one on my bed when I lived there, I swear the matress was moving when the thing walked.

Or the Trapdoor spider? How sneaky can the b**tards get?

Yes, apparantly it's true alright that you eat 4-8 in you sleep during your lifetime. I read it somewhere. :p

    Yeeeeeeah :p

Biggest spider I've seen in Ireland was about 7 inches across. It was hanging out on a curtain in the doorway of the conservatory at my parents' house. Me and my dad named it Curtain Spider and my dad lived in fear of it for four days, till what we assume was the same spider showed up in the kitchen being tortured and delegged by the cat, so my mother slapped it with a shoe. I'm glad I was on my way back to Dublin the day we discovered it. RIP Curtain Spider.

I figure if I'm going to eat 8 spiders in my lifetime, let's say I live until I'm 80 average it out, I won't eat another one until I'm 25....that's how I sleep at night. When I turn 25 I will be a walking zombie

Didn't you say before you weren't scared of spiders?

You all need to man up! The spiders here are harmless, have no interest in you and they kill flies. I have a couple of big ones in my house and I think they're cute:) - I always rescue them when they get trapped in the sinks/shower/bath and put them back on the floor.

I know several people who posess penises and who are useless at spider situation containment!

Ghostly landscape of cobwebs: Millions of spiders turn green fields white as branches and bushes are cocooned in sticky silk

    • Spiders spun cobwebs as they escaped rising flood water
    • Residents return to their evacuated homes to find fields covered in webs

That's why you shouldn't over-clean your ears. Ear wax is a powerful insect repellant (and bactericide, fungicide and antivirus.)

People mistakenly assume its dirty when in fact its a potent disinfectant.
