Jaysus I swear I dislike alot of things but I 100 percent purely hate spiders with a passon.

My front room down stairs were have me tv pc etc every year big black ****ers appear around august September.

So bout an hour ago just heading to bed I spot this big thing in corner under where my front window is **** is first thing comes to mind. So I think right bollox how do I get rid so head outside grab the hover and can the most toxic bug spray can find and head bk in.

So after bout five minutes eying the ****e up I spray him!! He legs it down onto floor and under a chair again ****!!

So he moves again in behind the door I've no idea where he's gone at this stage I'm in the hall thinking great that's my front room gone burn it to the ground!! But then I spot him leg it up over step and onto stairs into corner of bottom step. I plaster him in spray he's turning white I can hear the spray/carpet sizzle I stop he moves !! More spray he finally turns on his bk and I grab hover and he's gone!!!!

****ing sweating it afterwards everything looks like a spider now as I'm lying in me bed haha.

Think next year come august I'm going into some kinda cryogenic chamber until there all fecking gone again........

Spiders don't bother me, can't stand cockroaches though, and there's loads of them here too!

Cant say i'd be mad gone on spiders, found a whopper in a bathroom last saturday night, had to remove the offending chap as i feared he'd startle my host.

Give me a spider over a flying nuisance any time. A spider will sit in the corner minding his own business and never bother anyone.

Flies have to go out of their way to land on my food! Moths just want to bump against the television screen all night! And wasps? These feckers only goal in life is to get caught between the curtain and the window pane. Buzz, buzz, buzz all day until SMACK!

A benifit of having spiders in the house is that the annoyance of these utter cnuts is diminished whenever the spider needs a snack!

Just because you can't see a spider in the room, doesn't mean there isn't one there.....watching you.

My Mrs has my head annoyed killing/hoovering up spiders. She truely hates them. They don't really bother me.

If it wasn't for spiders the world would be knee-deep in flies after one year.

And it could have been worse, it could have been this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Whipscorpion.jpg

If there was a choice of flies or spiders around the house I would choose spiders. They kill off flies and don't harm anyone. Flies on the other hand are disgusting, they land on dog poo and then on the butter and what ever else. People that kill house spiders for no reason are idiots. .

As I'm an armchair arachnologist (used to be arachnophobic, know your enemy and all that), I'll clear up a few misconceptions about these guys (Tegenaria Duellica).

Giant House Spider is the commone name, and the clue is in the name. They don't come in from the outside, they are indoor spiders and can only live indoors. The reason they are more visible these days is that August - October is mating season, so they're looking for lurve. That's right, they've been in your house this whole time. Some people gather them up and leave them outside, thinking it's nicer than killing them. It's not, they won't survive long outside due to the inconstant temperature an unfamiliar environment.

Random facts: they are the fastest spider in the world (which will scarcely surprise anyone who has seem them at full pelt, the human eye cannot track the movement at all). Wikipedia says their legspan can reach 75mm, personally I think this is conservative as I found one whose legspan approached that of the stuffed tarantula on my wall. They are heavy and tough (they can be heard scurrying across wooden floors) but really limber so can squeeze into and under the tightest spaces

How did the House Spider manage before there were houses? And more importantly how do I get the b*stards out of my car??

They evolved to live in houses. Been with us since the days of the Roman Empire apparantly.

I would not want one of these guys in my car, could cause a crash due to a reflex reaction. A good hoover is in order

I forgot they were coming out again. Damn them. Guess I better clean up my room. Haha, right. There's a mouse in my room for as long as I've been aware (he ate one of my books) and I've never seen him. The spiders can hide. What I don't see wont scare me.

When I see them run I FREAK THE FCUK OUT!! Horrible things!

Edit: Isn't there a scientific explanation as to why humans fear spiders? Thought I read that on boards once...
