Hi all, A mate of mine is planning on buying a Hiace for under the two grand mark. Is there anything that should be looked for on them or is there any possible issues with the engine?

Also is it only the D4-D engine that is turbo'd or is the older engine turbo'd too?

    Thanks!

The older 2.4 came in turbo too, it also came without turbo.

At this money, I'd buy on condition rather than year. They're basically the same van for the last 17 years.

Hiace engines go for a million km no bother if maintenaned. ;)

Also the non turbo ones as slow as no other vans as an added plus, but look at them as mule, they will be hauling stuff and a trailer back and forth happily all day long for decades. I am also sure the older model can run on almost anything that burns. :D
