Extreme weather

If you could get more extreme weather brought to Ireland what type would it be? Not a massive fan of the heat myself but I get fierce tired of the miserable rainy and drizzly weather we get here.

Used to enjoy the odd spot of floodgazing every year when the road at home used to flood. Houses around my area were all alright but it wasn't so good for people in other parts of the country who actually couldn't stop the water from getting into their house.

Still I think if floods were more regular (or any extreme weather) people would quickly get used to it, you'd see a lot more people with small boats to get the shopping during the flood season. It only causes trouble when people aren't used to it. Still you'll get people who think they don't have to do anything and its all the council's fault, its always good craic listening to them moaning on Joe Duffy as well.

I wouldn't mind a good dose of snow every year around christmas time for a few weeks. If it happened every year I'd get an ould snowmobile it would be mighty craic tearing up and down the road with one of them

Proper dose of snow every Christmas would be the job.

Why wouldn't you want something other than a bit of heat?

I think people forget that you acclimatise to heat. We can't because it comes out of nowhere. Give us a more stable climate and we'd be good though

Heat is overrated, all you really need is a warm/dry day with a blue sky.

I would prefer if the temperature was 5-6 degrees everyday, with no rain.
    I like cold weather.

I'd like more flooding please. My house is never affected by flooding and I like to watch the people in the canoes on the telly :D I also enjoy the misery of my fellow human being when their house gets destroyed.

I wouldn't like to have extreme weather, don't like it too hot, floods would just be annoying, and get sick of snow after the first day.
In saying that, i do like a good thunderstorm, so wouldn't say no to a few of them.

I was out cutting the grass earlier in the sunshine. It's now pissing down out of the heavens.

That's about as extreme a weather as I would want.

Haven't seen the sun since Friday here.

Give me some extreme thunder though. Loads of fork lightening at night, great to watch.

I thought Ireland only gets flash lightening? I thought America gets the fork lightening.

For the first time ever I voted atari jaguar in a poll, because....
    Heatwave........Fecks me up.
    Flooding............Fecks up your house.
Thunder storms....Fecks up my water pump with power cuts
Snow..........Fecks up food deliveries to the local shop and getting to nearest big town for same.
    Hurricanes.......Fecks everything up
    Something else.....Fecks something else up.
Atari jaguar....Just plain fecked up, not a problem.

   ?????????????????????????????

There's no difference in the lightning, only that some occurs within clouds, and some jumps clearly to the ground

I'm a thunder and lightening man myself.

Nothing like lying in bed on a dark night, watching the room illuminate to the lightening flashes, with the growl of thunder in the distance.

I'd choose to watch that over a movie any time.

No supplies is your own fault. If you can expect a good dose of snow every year people will have supplies

Can you even read a persons post before you comment???

    I never said no supplies.

I posted and said..... "running low on supplies"......as in about a months worth of supplies that were allmost gone,as we had planned for the snowfall that was forecast by Met Eireann.

The last time (prior to 2 and 3 winters ago) we got a heavy prolonged snow was 1981.

Living in Malta it's been about 35° - 38° everyday for the past 3 months so a bit of snow would be cool I guess.

Yea, it's been pretty good. I forgot what rain looks like. Haven't seen any since about March/April.

Had a heatwave about 2 weeks ago. Heat index of 51°!!

Apart from cars, it's pretty dirt cheap! Living in a palace for €420 a month including bills. If I can root out pics I posted before in a different thread I'll post em here.
