Hiring an automatic car in Ireland...

This year my hired automatic car in Ireland will cost about e350 more than last year, I always hire the smallest car offered. Anybody have any idea's about getting a less expensive rate? It is so annoying that the tourist board keeps claiming how much cheaper Ireland is this year, not true at all in my case.

did you try different rental companies? Try the "it's cheaper over there" approach and some of them may drop the price. Make sure you talk to the manager or someone who owns the business. The young salesman won't have much authority to reduce prices.
