As the saying goes....."If you love your job, you'll never work a day in your life".

Definitely possible. The majority of jobs that you hear regarding 'love' etc have a creative element. Architects, actors, artists, fashion designers, even more basic jobs like florists, could all find joy in doing what they do on a daily basis.

Then you have people in professional sport. Admittedly not all love it, which can be even more frustrating given that millions of others would love the same role. The downside of that is their career only lasts x number of years.

    TLDR: Yes, it is possible.

You can have a job you enjoy. But there are few jobs that are always enjoyable. I'm a pilot and my job is considered a dream job for many people. But there times when it feels like the worst job in the world. But I've had worse jobs than that over the years. So I know I should enjoy it. But sometimes it's hard.

Often the good jobs have some form of compromise. OP you need to go and get some training somewhere. Remember you have the rest of your life ahead of you. There's no point in working in one crappy job after another.

    OP
You just listed some pretty menial jobs as what you have done. That is the problem. You may also have to accept you need to build up experience before you can raise through the ranks.
In saying that I have done similar jobs before getting a proper job. I must have been 24 then.
Like what I do but that might be more about doing it how I like. I have hated the same work before due to the company and people.
Unless you are really actively sick from the job I would hang on to leave. Give yourself a deadline to decide what to do.
I loved going into work the last place I was in. People make a huge difference.

Just because you don't know about your wife doing it, doesn't mean she doesn't do it to some of the other boardsies. :D

As a kid I always wanted to be a park ranger, I could picture myself on my horse with a rifle with a pet bear shooting those damn poachers.

Me mate is one and all he does is cut the grass and empty the bins

    I hate my Fkucen job,

I would have liked to do something in the sciences, a geologist or biologist.

    A film critic.

I spend my day messing around with big machines, buying expensive stuff, doing stuff people stand around and watch while we are at it -like smashing down large structures and getting to hang out with interesting people. I actually love going to work, say it quietly, but I'd do it for free as it what I'd like to be doing if I had to do somthing. It never really feels like work tbh and the pays rather good.:) Most other people think it looks awfully hard, but it's my idea of fun. I actually hate taking holidays, works more fun.

It's hard to believe there's people out there and when their alarm goes off in the morning they're thinking "deadly, time for work"

My job is easy, I have a certain amount of authority and I get on with everyone. I'm happy enough with my job.

Cheers for all the comments folks, good to see I'm not alone but ya the jobs I have had so far are fairly crappy to say the least, I don't think ya have to have experience in any of them to know how boring they are!
Stuck in minds whether to go back and do a short course in college or maybe travel and see what jobs crop up, could find something I might really enjoy that I would never have imagined myself working at..

Im farming full time and honestly, I love the job but hate the stigma that has attached! Even culchies have it in for farmers now! Awaiting ban from After Hours!

Look at what you like to do in your spare time and try find jobs related to that.

Thanks, that advice is gold. It narrows things down. Now think; something to do with drink and/or porn.

..oh wait all prostitutes are angelic young women who wished for a better life in another country only to be lured in by an evil pimp with a fake hotel job and used as sex slaves by the evil, evil gender that is men

I assume the thanks for this post are ironic.

Hey folks, I've been having some doubts over myself and work lately. I'm 23 and luckily have always been working, nothing serious but i've always had some form of work. Lately I've been thinking about a career and a job that I might actually enjoy doing but I cant seem to find anything. And thinking about it, I've sort of hated every job I've ever had to date. I've done bar work, security, construction and lately I got myself a job in the kitchen of an award winning restaurant thinking I would enjoy cooking but I hate every second of it. So I'm just wondering am I just not cut out for working or does everyone else hate their jobs aswell or have the jobs I've had so far been just plain s***?

    Yup your jobs sucked.

    Lets see:
    Bar work: High pressure
    Security: boring and monotonous
    Construction: Strenuous physical work
    Kitchen: High pressure

Try looking for work that doesn't include the negatives above.

I'm my own boss and loving it. Maybe try setting up your own business?
