Has anyone noticed that bar a handful of women , the bad reviews / outpouring of disaprovals for this book are mainly coming from men ?

Even looking at threads that have been started on boards , the majority of the slating is being done by men....

Just like porn has always been considered a guys thing , it seems that this book is turning into a womens thing.

While I dont love the book , I dont hate it either and Im beginning to think that maybe there is some jealousy coming from the guys that women have something of their own.

Am I the only one who has noticed this or what ?

Do we really have to give a fuck? It's the Da Vinci Code of erotic novels. Easy to read sex for dumbos.

Because men already watch porn, whereas women are happy to have something new to flick their bean to.

No, the book is just shit. Female saying this. No man should feel threatened by the anti-erotic scenes in that book.

I've noticed that it's the subject of much ridicule, but I can't say whether it's been mostly men or women doing it.

It might just be that it's basically porn for women, which is now topping the bestseller list.

It would be equally hilarious if the latest issue of playboy managed to top the bestseller's list, or a porn movie made it onto the top movies list.

Please stop creating threads about this drivel. Giving it even more attention. No one with an IQ higher than a carrot actually cares.

if you're emasculated by badly written erotic fiction, you can't be that confident in your masculinity to begin with

To be fair on Playboy, they had some genuinely talented writers writing for them (Short Stories).. Joseph Heller, Stephen King, Roald Dahl, Haruki Murakami and Vonnegut to mention a few (According to google as I'd have to trawl through some retro playboy otherwise) :p. I can't name the writer of Fifty Shades. But in all seriousness, I don't need Twilight Fan Fiction to emasculate me....... :pac:

I wouldnt tarnish the name of shite, by having it compared to that stuff. Waste of ink and paper.

I've heard more women criticise it, mostly cause it's mainly women who have read it.

There's a rather scathing review form a female here.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

It cannot be emasculating to men. It's about a man taking charge.

The essential message of the whole book is every woman loves a bastard! :pac:

Have to say, in my case it's been the opposite. I was alerted to its crapness by a woman, and the derision continues to be spearheaded by my female friends. Bar the general "is it okay for me to read cum guzzling grannies on the bus now" comments from some men, most of them don't seem to give a crap at all.

It's poorly written, unrealistic garbage that appears to appeal to women who aren't all that bright.

If a man is jealous of that book then he obviously isn't all that bright either.

Its a book that glorifies a massively abusive relationship. This is shrouded by her "consent" - "consent" isn't always meaningful consent and just because she agrees to it doesn't mean it's a good thing, or OK.

If anything this book is more damaging for women than men having that type of abusive relationship glorified.

Completely misunderstanding the appeal of S & M there! This book does it no justice either, BTW.

oh why has another thread been created about this - the book is just shoite ok

why is everyone up in arms about it ?

If you really dont care then why post about it ?

My point was that men feel emasculated because their women are swatting them away as they would rather read a badly written erotic novel . Just like women have felt when their men watch porn.

For gods sake the book is not that bad to be making these kinds of waves . Theres been worse !!!!!!

Brought to my attention when I asked a female friend what it was. She couldn't have been more scathing.

I haven't read a single review by a man. All the reviews i saw here were by women. the one with the gifs was especially funny.

Trust me, I Don't underestimate the appeal of BDSM. What the book does is give a virgin to a bastard, not show a couple engaging in a proper BDSM relationship.

Every girl I know that's read it says it's a complete load of c0ck.

I couldn't care less if it's good or not. No harm in the ladies enjoying some good old fashioned smut. :D

I'm off to the MILF section of youp0rn.

Pretty much, even people I know who are into that whole thing think the relationship depicted in the book is abusive and a complete misrepresentation of their lifestyle.

Would have been better if it had pictures tbh. Too many words.

I don't see the problem with any adults reading this book and I don't understand the big deal about it.

Interesting proposition that quite badly-written pornographic literature should be immune from male criticism because it's produced for (and consumed by) women.

Would that make criticism of any pornography aimed at men off-limits to female criticism?
