Notepad.exe showing ascii character 28 as small rectangle.

In windows XP notepad.exe ascii character 28 is displayed as a small little rectange.

I use this character when separating values in a byte stream and when debugging i dump this byte stream to a text file. It makes it easy to read when the rectangle symbol is displayed.

However i have moved to windows 7 and character 28 is not displayed with anything so it makes the byte stream difficult to read without adding my own separators to the dump. eg |

Is there a way to get the windows 7 notepad to display these characters.

I have tried putting the xp notepad.exe on the windows 7 machine but it didnt make a difference.

Display as ∟ for me, a L like shape, but with longer bottom.

Do you use a non-standard font in notepad?

Ya if i manually enter using Alt+28 i get the L symbol too. Odd..

Oh well ill just have to put up with it. Its not worth spending the time trying to figure it out.
