I think posting pictures from shows taken by mobile phone should be forbidden here.

Eh? Some phones now take better quality pics than digital cameras from a few years ago.

    What's the problem?

EDIT: Do you mean show pics in general? As they don't really qualify as 'spotted'?

    Simples...

Quality of a picture taken by ancient phone with resolution 1100x600 is very low therefore it's better to keep it where it is, than just waste somebody elses time... second, some people are not able to use any kind of camera properly (posting a picture where you can see one headlight and rest of it is a tree.. that's really not necessary)

... When you make a picture it's quite important to have the object in the middle (if you are driving a car and taking picture it doesn't really matter, but when you have time it's a good idea to spend some of it on aiming the lens) ... Then it's always a good idea to wait few seconds and take a picture without people.. Car is the most important here, not some people wandering around with their finger in the nose..

    ..

Bar your first point the rest apply whether a phone or camera is used. I would expect even budget phones to be minimum 2meg pixel these days.

You just don't take pictures with a phone when you go to a show where cars are on static display. Kids do that (so they can show their friends in school or somethin), because they are kids and have no money to buy a proper camera.

Those Ballincollig pics (assuming you mean the ones posted by cadaliac?) are a shade under 6MP, which is a long way off that random resolution you posted, and although not technically perfect they serve their purpose well IMHO. I'm happy to browse through them to see what I missed, and sure many others are too.

Sure they are 'snaps' but this isn't the photography forum, where you can discuss the finer details of composition and the 'rule of thirds' or whatever. ;)

I understand but still... this isn't the photography forum but posting a picture where you can't see the whole car and pictures in really terrible quality is a bit pointless...

    ---
    Ballincollig one more time...

I'm not saying the pictures must be perfect (and those posted below definitely are not perfect.. they are way far from perfect), but they should be at least worth watching...

    Loada Bollox!

Your saying I can't post pics on here that were taken with an
8 MP (3264x2448 pixels) autofocus, dual-LED flash, touch-focus, image stabilization, instant capture camera phone?

    Yup makes since.

A lot of phones are just as good as cameras, I never use a digital camera because I can adjust my camera phone to suite nearly all situations.

while i am a car enthusiast and photography one also unless a photo is really out of focus or too dark to see anything no harm in posting it here the quality here is generally very good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,499 ✭✭✭Capri

If I see something worth photographing I just grab the camera, point and shoot and drive on. I'm NOT going to set up a tripod, get me light meter etc out for the 'perfect' shot

Old ex I.T. snapper told me that he now does it the same way unless he's got a specific contract to photograph something were he'll be paid for his work. ;)

Link to photos from Inistioge today, to give classic and vintage enthusiasts an idea what was there, between pitch black rain clouds, blinding sun, 8 year old camera on f*ck knows what settings, trying to keep an eye on 6 year old son and 4 year old golden retriever, there all point and click and never going to win prizes but if I wanted to be critiqued I'd post in the photography forum, not CLASSIC CARS:P

Here, have a fence post with an Avenger Tiger in the background...

I’m a professional photographer, but I’m happy to see shots by others on (decent) camera phones.

Anyone worried about the quality of the photos on this thread is not under any obligation to view them…

Also remember the famous quote by photojournalist Arthur Fellig, when asked about his technique: f/8 and be there

I usually put a bit of thought into the photo if it's not a 'passing NOW' shot. I'd look out for power lines, clothes lines bits of rubbish etc before taking the shot.
Some of the photos on DD are dire - not rotated, shots of half the car etc etc, blurry.

This one was clearly taken in winter, too many objects in the back ground , a bit blurry, and too much concrete in the shots

    Trying, but very blurry

V.nice - apart from the underside shot not being rotated

Here's a bloody awful ad - bad location ( in 'Commercials') , dire photography
    , bad spelling ( porchse 924 ) and to my eyes it's a 924 Turbo front

Do-more, are there many RHD classic cars left in Sweden from before the changeover to LHD ?

Any I RHD's I have seen are later imports usually British sports cars, MG's etc.

Long before my time but I am told that despite driving on the left all the cars here were LHD before the change over.
