It was going to happen eventually... A Japanese company has married water rockets to a RPG7 launcher: http://technabob.com/blog/2012/07/29/rpg-7-bottle-launcher

It's bound to be highly inaccurate, and will probably soak the shooter, but it looks like loads of fun*

    About €300 in Japan.

    * And it is almost certainly 100% legal in Ireland as the "rocket" doesn't come out of a barrel.

Wouldn't the launcher be considered a barrel?

I'd say probably not. The PET bottle is just held in the launcher rather then being fired down it. But I would need to re-read the legislation to see if they define this area at all.

If it does turn out to be legal we could see some interesting props in the future. Strap a few of them together and you've got yourself an MLRS.

As long as you don't mind an MLRS with a 30m range and needs A LOT of bicycle pumping...

    Love this line :
'The State Department expressed “regret” for the disturbance but defended the calls to panic after the discovery, saying it proves that they “take any potential threat seriously,” even one they invented themselves.'

Because conservatives are scrooges, the good folks at Americans for Tax Reform have gone through the fine print to find out what our Olympians will have to cough up to the IRS should they be lucky enough to win any medals in London.
Even by the standards of our government, the numbers are insane.
For instance: Americans who win bronze will pay a $2 tax on the medal itself. But the bronze comes with a modest prize—$10,000 as an honorarium for devoting your entire life to being the third best athlete on the planet in your chosen discipline. And the IRS will take $3,500 of that, thank you very much.
There are also prizes that accompany each medal: $25,000 for gold, $15,000 for silver, and $10,000 for bronze.
Silver medalists will owe $5,385. You win a gold? Timothy Geithner will be standing there with his hand out for $8,986.
So as of this writing, swimmer Missy Franklin—who's a high school student—is already on the hook for almost $14,000. By the time she's done in the pool, her tab could be much higher. (That is, unless she has to decline the prize money to placate the NCAA—the only organization in America whose nuttiness rivals the IRS.)
ATR notes that the real twist of the knife is that most other Olympians won't pay any taxes on their medals because America is one of only a handful of countries which taxes "worldwide" prize income earned overseas.

Apart from the fact that the politics and economics forums are elsewhere, this is is tax on income (as professional athletes prize money is what they earn) and do you think Tiger Woods should be able to earn his $100m plus per year tax free?

Also this cash is paid out as an incentive by the US Olmypic committee, and not the IOC or LOCOG.

Snopes (always your first port of call for stories like this) has a more thorough examination of the figures and shows a number of wholes in the estimates.

Federal report: Bag with bomb was at Detroit building guard desk for weeks
During that time, at least two employees X-rayed it in an unsuccessful attempt to determine its contents. One guard shook it in another failed attempt to learn more, and a federal inspector conducted four routine checks of the guard post without discovering that the bag contained an explosive device, according to the report by the inspector general, an independent watchdog.

A DEA officer stopped at our farm yesterday "I need to inspect your farm for illegal growing drugs."

I said "Okay , but don't go in that field over there.....",

The DEA officer verbally exploded saying, " Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me!" Reaching into his rear pants pocket, the arrogant officer removed his badge and shoved it in my face. "See this ****ing badge?! This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish.... On any land !! No questions asked or answers given!! Have I made myself clear?.... do you understand?!!"

I nodded politely, apologized, and went about my chores. A short time later, I heard loud screams, looked up, and saw the DEA officer running for his life, being chased by my big old mean bull...... With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it seemed likely that he'd sure enough get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified.

I threw down my tools, ran to the fence and yelled at the top of my lungs.....

"Your badge, show him your ****ing BADGE!!"
