Video Thread - Hunting - Read MOD NOTE in post 1.

As there is an increase in the tendency to make videos of people while out hunting or shooting we thought we would give a thread dedicated to these videos.
There are a few simple rules;
- Only videos that were made/videoed/created by the poster may be posted. Any random videos from other sources or ones not owned by the poster will be removed.
- Any videos containing illegal actions will be removed.
- Videos of hunting dogs/ferrets, birds of prey, whether working or just for display (showoff) purposes, etc are allowed, and welcomed.
- This is for hunting/Outdoor pursuits only. This is not for target shooting, range work, clays, plinking, etc. Any videos of this nature will be removed.
- The outdoor portion pertains to general outdoor/scenic videos. If you fancy outting up a video of the lands you shoot for display purposes this is allowed.
- No comedic or funny videos. So if you have or see a video of a fox playing football then there is an entertainment thread for that. We'd like to keep this as close to genuine hunting/outdoor type pursuits as possible.
- No instructional videos. We have a tips section for just that.
We have added a few videos to get the ball rolling so please feel free to add to it.

Was out this morning for a holiday pheasant/woodcock hunt & after meeting 4 cocks with no shot over about 2 hours I noticed the dog was getting tired. Had a look at him & his feet were frozen so I said it was time to head back after giving him a rest. So on the way home I was tipping along the ditches I passed rather than hunt the full square of the field. As i was hopping a drain I heard a little russle in the ditch about 30 ft down so I hopped back down.
Nothing like a bird & remmington 7 to wake up a tired dog.
It was a good job too as when he hit the gound he took off running for the ditch. Dog caught him quickly on the ditch & pretty much finished the job without any damage. He did however gleefully help himself to a mouthful of feathers! He met his 1st runner recently & kept dropping him & he'd run off again then catch him again so was a bit enthusiastic this time & reluctant for a repeat
Funny though as if the bird had stayed quiet he was grand as I has just plodding home.
Tail was 23 inches & he will complement the turkey & ham nicely on Friday.
P.S I have a nice vid with good quality capture of a crosser that won't upload. All of these ones seem to be snapshots...0 -
Well lads, finally got this one up from earlier in the month.
Had trailed this pheasant for 2 fields with numerous false points. It led into the edge of the bog. This clip is the last minute or so. Shot with a remington 5 a bit close. I was convinvced I had a 7 in put turned out I had the 7 & 5 in the wrong barrels!
After such a good hunt I had to take they shot. Great experience for the young dog...
Plenty of good eating on him but upper part of one breast was nailed!

Best of bad lot today. The river in the shot was frozen last week, lightly flooded today...
I like this when the dog looks back for permission to flush...
He's like a wound up spring. Hadn't many places for a shot really & as I've hunted this patch for years I decided to stay behind the dog covering left & right. More often than not birds will fly at an angle away from the dogs in this spot usually, up to a wood to the right of the shot. This fella decided to go directly away & exactly where I had no shot but was typical of how today went... Great to be out again either way...0 -
After a bout 2 hour of feckin about shrinking & compressing this I got it working. Bit of quality drop though.
2 teal off of a big drain. Bit of work to be done on blinds but long off season ahead to work on that... The will is there so bit of work & be grand. He saved me a grand walk or a soaking...

Last day out of 2010. Glorius day, delighted with how the dog rounded off his season with a nice find point, flush & retieve straight onto my lap...
He'll be 2 at the end of Feb so couldn't be happier really for his age.
Camera is a bit too much to right on the shot.
P.S I am not wearing a dress even though it looks like it in the shadows..:D0 -

Out for stroll today - rarely meet birds in this area never mind any hatching.
All signs of a good season on the cards.
An abundance of wild birds around me - the early season weather seems to have helped the hatching!!

Woodcock with the springer pup.
He's getting there - learning to use his nose & will retrieve anything he finds. Only a pity this bird fell other side of a drain & the feathers ended up in the drain. No harm though experience will cure this.
Oh & yes I did fall into a hole at the start of the video.:o

Pheasant with springer pup. This bird had a cevlar vest or something.
Shot him lower than i'd like but had already winged him in a previous field, saw him just glide into this field & was not letting him away to suffer. When he got up you can tell he's clipped as he doen't launch in the usual pheasant way - he tried but just about got off the ground.
Even then when I shot him he took off running for the hills. Great experience for the pup though to take on a running bird.
To top it off he was well alive when I finally got him & a tidy retrieve from the young dog!!!!

Was 100% sure the dog was pointing the scent of the hare but at the same time its not like him to hold on when the hare had left. Twas no hare!!! :eek:

Out for a few woodcock today I came across this unfortunate chap.
For the 2nd time in 2 seasons I got caught with a 5 & 7 cartride mix up. This is evident by the shower of feathers! Hit in the rear & leg though so plenty salvageable on him...
