Just heard the suffragette movement will be reflected in the opening ceremony so perhaps it will be a woman athlete, I don't think a woman athlete has ever lit the torch before, so Kelly Holmes, that was a great Olympic moment and we are not seeing much of her, so maybe.

But with added Jimmy McGee/George Hamilton I assume.

Is that McGee fella working on the games? I thought they'd finally persuaded him to retire.

The BBC presenters appeared to be hinting it was him, and he's just dissapeared from their coverage now, so I know who I've got my money on.

Redgrave has gone from 6/4 to light the flame to 3/10

John Terry to run on & kick roger bannister square in the balls, get redgrave in a headlock, grab the torch and light it himself.

I got 4/6 on that fly on the wall, looks like he's primed for the race of his life!

    Gambling is like breathing :pac:

    Rebecca Adlington, perhaps?

She was a surprise success at the last Olympics. (Well, probably not a surprise to insiders but I remember her gold medals were an upset at the time.)

I'm now thinking Zara Phillips, her mummy and her granny will light it together

I'm terrified that its going to be Beckham. They've yet to announce what the 'special role' promised to him by Coe will be.

Please no. And not feckin' Coe either. :(

Oh ffs I flick on BBC and that geebag Sue Barker is on it, open your legs for Cliff Richard and you have a job for life with the Beeb

The Jubilee and all that but MaM will be opening the games so it can't be her. The only head of state to open 2 games according to the BeeB Montreal and London.

It has to be Redgrave he has disappeared from the coverage. No matter who they get it just wont be a Muhammad Ali moment like it was in Atlanta.

EDIT Redgrave is back in the commentary box.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to ask, but does anyone know of any legit sites that will be streaming it?

Maybe the BBC or Channel 4?

I think he is great at his job but how on Earth did he ever look in a mirror and think I would make a great Tele presenter.

Its starting to get exciting, and also abit emotional. Wonder what odds that this will be played/performed at some point considering Danny Boyle's 'Green and Pleasant Land' Theme.

Wonder if it will be a complete unknown to light the torch, say a survivor or family member of someone killed in the Tube bombings.
