Shame on you all. :( Not one person has gone into an angry 'non-racist' rant about Nigerians.

If he'd said that it would be nice to live next to people from home there'd be no thread.

It's natural that people flock together like birds of a feather especially when they don't feel so welcome. There was Kilburn once upon a time. Eventually they fan out and integrate though if someone 'worse' comes along. Otherwise they stay ghetto-ised.

Shouldn't it be regarded as racist if people are also referred to as white people?

Of course its not racist. He is black.
Only white people can be racist.

Daly Thompson is a perfect example. If some Irish athlete had said a similar remark about a black person there would be uproar.

Daley Thompson said nothing about white people. Why do people keep saying he did? It's getting tiresome at this stage.

I was watching the high chaparral last night. It was the episode with the buffalo soldiers they were singing eeny-meeny-miney-moe we finally caught Geronimo. When I was in school we learned that but it wasn't Geronimo we were catching. I suppose if you said what we used to say back then today you could end up in jail.

    I don't want black neighbours.

I'm assuming the guy in the OP would have no problem with this statement.

Not racist and hardly worthy of a thread or even wondering whether it is racist or not in the first place.

 Not allowing people to put up a thread about Racism.

    *points finger

    Racist!

+1, the OP would have to give his definition of racism first. Most people view it as a negative term. I just view it as being prejudiced, and do not think being prejudiced is automatically/necessarily a bad thing, it is often a sensible reasonable thing. Like prejudging that a big angry snarling dog might be dangerous, due to past experience & knowledge.

If my father heard an older couple were moving in next door he might be happy to have somebody to relate to more, and you might describe him as ageist. Prejudging that he might get on better with a 70 year old couple than a gang of students.

Or if my sister worked in an office full of 20 men and heard a woman was coming in you could call her sexist if she was happy to hear it.

.... I honestly think there are more people who look for racism than actual racists in this world.

I remember when they changed it to "catch a tigger" by his toe :)

    Friend is renting his house.

Houses to the left and right are rented to people originally from Nigeria.

Prospective tenant (also from Nigeria) is happy because "it will be nice to live next door to black people".

    Nope.

My family is dutch. If i found a nice neighbourhood with a few dutch families in it, i'd have it down as a plus.
Nothing wrong with settling into an area you're more comfortable with.

If you moved to Nigeria and found out that the people renting next door to you were Irish I'd be you'd be furious though, wouldn't you?

Black people are so racist - someone should educate them that the correct term is 'African American'.

    Very common in the UK.

There's a need for flexibility in how discrimination law is applied as some groups are more vulnerable than others, says Penny Anderson, author of the Renter Girl blog. "A landlord saying no to a Muslim woman is wrong. But I think a group of Muslim women turning down a white man is OK."

A woman who placed a "Filipino only" advert in a newsagent in Golders Green, north London, explains: "I'm sorry about that. All the people here are Filipino so we need Filipinos."

With this level of racism nit-picking, you'd be too desensitized to recognize racism if it walked up, called you [CENSORED] and spit your face.
