Audi A4 1.6 petrol vs Golf TDI

Hi All, Ok I made the mistake buying a 1.6 petrol Audi.. its 2004 I am not feeling the piiinch of the pumps on my pocket. I am considering a Golf TDI Whats the difference in efficency between these two? Would it be very noticable? Also I know im not gonna get nearly as much as what I paid for the Audi back on a sale so…

Also I know im not gonna get nearly as much as what I paid for the Audi back on a sale so whats a good year vs prive vs milage on a TDI Golf?

Budget would be 4000 max as I am looking to pick one up straight away!

Over all plan was to buy the '04 audi and save until NCT is out in 2014 for an 08 TDI A4... Since the petrol thing is hampeing my savings majorly I need to make the switch now so a gold with 150000 miles wouldnt bother me once I know they keep going and are cheap to run

Also what should I look out for with diesels that I wouldnt have with petrols?

First question to ask is what mileage are you doing? As in, would it warrant you buying a diesel?
