Have you chosen your autumn marathon yet?

Is that one for me? Haven't given it too much thought. Too busy racing these days (no time for training:)). Would love to race Dublin, but have always enjoyed pacing it too, so not too sure at this stage. Budget will be a bit tight, so perhaps Longford or Sligo would make a good precursor to pacing Dublin (if they'll have me back).

Yes - I'm sure it's not long before you start your next marathon training plan, so I was wondering what the target was. Too late for one of the majors if you haven't booked it already, and the reports on Longford last year didn't seem very enthusiastic - but I suppose your race would be about unfinished business, not sightseeing :)

ssssusshhh. Stop reminding Krusty about Marathons. We are, ever so slowly, dragging him over to the bright side. Don't be putting crazy thoughts in his head :p

Just happened to be down in Kildare doing a bit of shopping in the outlet stores, when lo and behold, I noticed a marathon taking place nearby in the Curragh. Well, I had to have a piece of that. ;) Windy conditions, and ran from mile 1 to the finish line on my own, so not the easiest day out, but glad to take a small chunk from my previous PB and 4th place.

The outlet shopping thing is a lie!

Well done Krusty! I did the half, and I actually did go outlet shopping (after the race though, not before)

Don't really do tables but decided I would update this one after Friday's 5K, which was a 4s PB. The 800m was done indoors in January. The mile was on the road in a local fit4life race in March, which I went back on and confirmed the distance was legit. The 5-mile and 10K I did last year but probably won't attempt in 2012. The 3 longer ones are for when I slow down in my old age.:D
I did a 2-miler in 10:31, so if I can find a 3K race, I'd hope to be able to knock that one on the head. I should be able to find the 400m in the summer but if not I'll test myself out with a time-trial.

I'm still the only person listed under the 400. Come on lads!! Get running those graded meets :)

Still amazed you rocked up to a Marathon like that and ran 2:46 Krusty. Much respect. You kept that one very very quiet.

Well spotted the clown! Getting older has its advantages in this game, at least every 5 years, especially with you younger lads moving into the auld fella categories.

Update afew of my times. That 3min 800 is abit soft I think, 2 sounds like a better plan for me :P

    Giving this a bump.

I ran a 3k solo time trial as part of my sprinter "long" run training at the weekend. Completed it in 12:17. Obviously I dont intend to train for any distance above 400m as that would harm my progress over that event, but was hoping that perhaps I could manage the sub 20 5k during one of these sprinter long runs. I'm a fair bit off that. Will probably need to take 45 seconds off that 3000m time to have a genuine shot at the 5k. I may try it at a later date, but for now it is not possible. The gym work I've been doing has made me feel so much stronger of late though. I felt very comfortable at half way during that 3000m. Felt like I was getting more for less effort, and ended up running even 1500m splits. That 3000m time is not far off my 5K PB (21:02) in terms of quality, so I'm very pleased with that considering I'm not doing any specific training.

So that's my update. How about others?

After all my moaning, tonight's BHAA races are 1000m and 2500m, so I might record a 1000m time this year, but not an 800m time.

10km done... first time under 35 min for a 10km on the roads... I have a few track races coming up. I'm planning on going for a 400, 800 and mile at the Luss Highland games. It'll be a grass track, I'm hope that will not slow me down too much but I think it should be fine if its dry. If I miss the targets there I'll have one or two more chances. 5 Mile could be an issue there aren't many of them about.

Better 5km time to replace the one set on a snowy icy XC race in Jan. New road PB for me and managed to take the win too. There were a few hills and tight corners on the course which meant I didn't get my target of 16:30 but close enough :-) Luss highland games were cancelled last weekend because of the rain but next weekend there is another one near Aberfoyle... We'll see if I can nail the 3 short targets in one day ;-)

So after all the rain in Scotland this week, the grass track was very water logged. Add to that a bunch of big lads chucking logs, cannon balls, sledge hammers and weights on a chain onto it making huge holes made my time goals a little unrealistic. I ran with my XC spikes with the largest spikes I have (18mm) that will give you an idea of how soggy things were. In the 400m I ran 70s for 2nd, won the 800m beating the guy who beat me in the 400m. And in the Mile I ran 5:20 again winning it but had a tough race against a runner who only ran the mile. After all that I decided to go for the hill race as the top prize was a fancy sock knife (skean-du, or something like that) and £80. With no fell shoes and a lot of races in my legs I suffered though and only came in in fourth.

Good day in the highlands... think I need to find another set of races on a dry... and preferable flat course

Just adding my 800m time from the Louth T+F champiosnhips tonight. Not a very impressive time but I ran a 1500m (a new PB by 6 seconds! :D) and 3000m beforehand. Would like to try it again on fresh legs, really had no idea how to race it and had laps splits of 71 and 78 which probably isn't very good.

Ah now, come out of that will ya! :D You can only chose the first 800m of a longer race for record purposes. ;) Otherwise you have a flying start.

Just being a bit pedantic here.

Ah now, come out of that will ya! :D You can only chose the first 800m of a longer race for record purposes. ;) Otherwise you have a flying start.

Just being a bit pedantic here.

No, it's a good point. I have to go to the Garmin for the first 800 split because I didn't note it at the time. It's actually a bit faster. (I'm taking my time at 820m because my total run is recorded at 1520. Checking the trace I'm safely past the start point at that mark)
