Super Troopers lastnight. Never seen the film prior but I just have to watch it again :D

I watched it yesterday too. I wasn't expecting much but I thought it was fantastic.

Another superb british movie is Cleanskin. Pretty standard terrorism plot but the acting, realism and overall execution was exceptional. Really puts similar hollywood movies to shame.

Out of curiosity, what similar movie would it be boring compared to?

ok maybe boring wasnt the right word(not far off it mind you) but honestly i saw the trailer and went damn i want to see this and then i watched it.i thought it was predictable, the action wasnt great, sean bean was wooden in it(highly unlike him) and it felt way to long.
it just didnt do anything for me.
and to answer your question the bourne movies.
i got the feeling from the trailer thats what i was gonna get, just a good action movie with a good story.

These are the last 3 films I watched

The Dark Knight Rises I have to say I thought this was awesome. There's not much I can say about it that hasn't been said before. I'll just say I loved it and leave it at that.

Insidious I found this entertaining but not scary at all. Actually I found one or two of the jump scares unintentionally hilarious.

Dawn of the Dead (2004 Remake) Very enjoyable film. Now I've never seen the original version but I did enjoy this one very much.

The Dark Knight Rises - Plenty to nitpick about the film and there were some serious pacing issues but overall it was an enjoyable film and a fitting end to Nolan's trilogy.

    3/5

I can only hope that Nolan is brought on board for The Dark Knight Returns, which I dearly hope actually gets made.

Harsh Times - Christian Bale plays an unpredictable, battle worn, iraq war vet in L.A that gets involved with mexican drug dealers and shít gets hectic. Excellent film, such a powerful actor.

I hear you dude. I probably wouldn't have watched it if I'd seen the trailer. Different strokes and all that.:D

People look at me funny when I tell them I hated The Dark Knight.

    The Dark Knight Rises
    7/10 IMO
Bane is a great character, and Christian Bale is top notch .As for Anne Hathaway, shes smoking;).
But IMO the story was needlessly drawn-out/overloaded .
Feck the critics,No way is this as good as Batman Begins or The Dark Night

    In the line of fire

Ageing Secret Service agent trying to foil a plot to foil the President

Very strong cast, good performances by all

I don't remember Dylan McDermott in anything apart from The Practice and he did well, like him as an actor. But he had one of the smaller roles here

    Good film, thumps up

And again, and again, and again :D It's one of those films that you notice more little funny details with each viewing....

I've seen that film a couple of times and it was quite funny but I have to admit that I enjoyed one of their other efforts, Beerfest, even better for straight hilarity.

"The Big Sleep" (1978) . Last night on a newspaper promo DVD 50 cents from a local charity shop - money well spent! Star studded cast including Robert Mitchum, Sarah Miles, John Mills, James Stewart, Oliver Reed, Edward Fox, Joan Collins and many more well known faces with cameo roles. Nice remake of Raymond Chandler's classic story with the action set in England rather than the USA. Robert Mitchum is excellent in the role of Private Detective Philip Marlowe, called into to investigate a simple case of blackmail but which soon leads to a world of drugs, pornography, madness and murder....8/10

Watched a film called the Revenant last night. It's a sort of zombie/vampire type comedy/horror. I enjoyed it, the end was slightly underwhelming but there were a few genuine laughs. Not strictly a genre movie being not quite zombie or vampire specifically.

    7/10.

    A tale of two movies...........

Saw The Dark Knight rises at the weekend which I thought was a pretty poor. Went with a few people and we were all of the same opinion. But looking at these message boards it seems most people loved it. Was starting to question whether or not I'd seen the same film as everybody else or if my ability to tell a good movie from a bad movie was still fully functioning????? But then last night I saw the Coen Brothers remake of True Grit and my fate in films was restored. What a movie, absolutley magnificent in every way. Its what a film should be. The difference between TDKR and True Grit is the difference between donkeys and racehorses......

Watched God Bless American, Bobcat Goldthwaits new movie.
Very entertaining, like Falling Down but with more laughs and a lead character you can find yourself agreeing with.
Joel Murray is great as the rest of the world is truly filled with @ssholes.

It's not as violent as you might imagine, yes he gets to shoot people but the gory stuff is mostly off camera and the rest is no different than post watershed TV.

All in all well worth seeing.

Yeah, but that was a Bobby Ewing moment, tbh I tought the whole way through "this is all going to be a frakking dream" and if it had been mainstream hollywood it might of been but, no, they didn't wimp out at all.

A cool movie of a guy who just isn't cool, nor does he want to be.

    50/50
Watched this the other night and I'd rank it as one of the best films of 2011. I was rather surprised by how well Rogen, played the role overall and Levitt was superb which is becoming rather normal for him. I'd highly recommend it. :D

    THE INGLORIOUS BANDITS

When you got a character in there named Hugo Stiglitz
you know you just gotta be a scalpin'!

Tarantino's finest effort since TRUE ROMANCE if ah say so
    maself!

    :)

Boy, does this one dish up some fab cinema?!?!

Ma favorite (sorry, FAVOURITE) part was dem powder keg con-ver-sat-ions.

    Ah was on tenderhooks!!!

A Beautiful Mind (2001) : A Princeton mathematics professor takes on some cryptography work which leads to a string of personal crises. Based on a true story.

This film was not as good as I had hoped or as good as it's rating would suggest but it is solid. It was touted to me as being a very deep and realistic portrayal of the illness that John Nash had but not having known anyone who has had it or having it myself, I couldn't say. Towards the end it went a little bit too heavy on sentiment for me but there's some good tense stuff in the second act of the film. Worth watching if you like broad well acted dramas over the two hour mark.

The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders

There are quite a few productions of this famous book out

This was a TV adaptation, Alex Kingston is the main actress, you'd recognize her as the British surgeon on ER

It's a lavish production, great costumes and backgrounds and all very well produced

But I thought it was just ok, didn't find the story interesting at all

I like period dramas and I can't fault how it was produced, just this Daniel Defoe novel was not for me

A young Daniel Craig plays a rogue in the second half

Thunder over arizona - It's basically everything a good western should be, really enjoyed it.

Moonrise Kingdom - Very good cast but not my type of humour at all. Its more suited to middle aged women IMO! Whereas my humour would be Superbad, Anchorman etc

Insomnia - had ignored this years but finally decided to give it a watch. It's decent: there's some nice chemistry between Pacino and Williams, a few unexpected twists to formula and the two setpiece chases are interesting. But there's something dare I say 'ordinary' about the whole thing, and certainly the least distinctive film from Nolan. There's some stuff that makes it stand out, but not really enough to provide anything more than a somewhat above average police thriller. Some of the landscape shots are nice though. Serious ice.

    Return to the hiding place

About the Dutch resistance during WW11

In English but extremely heavy Dutch accents

    Just ok, 5/10.

Brian Blessed has a small role, he'd be the most well known actors

The rest are young Dutch actors

I felt the same way when I first saw 'Insomnia', however with susequent viewings, the film has definitely grown on me.
