Interesting cooling solution. Looks like an asthmatic ant might provide more airflow by coughing on it.

Whats up with that price for a 7950?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,690 ✭✭✭✭Skylinehead

Dell don't make that, but they probably use it in one of their products. What's with a) the price, and b) the S-Video?

Have you got two U2312HMs? You could always just get a cheaper side one and use the glorious U2312HM for the middle.

I wouldn't mind them myself but I don't have the desk space. :pac: There's a mark on my one that keeps pissing me off. Probably not enough to complain about to get covered by warranty, but I would like to relegate it to a side position. Colourful games like Trine 2 look absolutely fantastic on a good IPS.

Well at 185eu you can't go wrong m8.

I will wait and see how much damage in total whole steam sale will do. So far my visa is +3eu lol. ( I always try to have extra money on visa ). Already spent over 100eu on games and still got so many days of damn steam sale!!! If I will survive with minimal losses I'll order one more 2312hm then. The only one thing that will be missing from my setup - g27 :)

Does anyone have any experience of GOG? I know steam are rip off merchants most of the year but I do like the way you can re-download games so easily. Is it the same with GOG or do I need to buy yet another HDD for back ups? :)

I finally got all the games of Steam I want (except for Anno) and now I want to buy about €100 worth of old games of GOG

I've only used gog once or twice, but as far as I can remember, you can download your stuff however often you want from gog.
    4. Do I need a user account?
A lot of nice functionality is available to registered users as well as guests. Without an account you can rate games, add comments and even post on the forums.
So what's the point of creating a user account? First and foremost to purchase and download games: because your purchased games are linked with your account, you can re-download them whenever and wherever you need. You'll also have more privileges on the forums (creating topics, rating posts), access to our after-sales support, the option to post your reviews on the website and much, much more (and one more “much” for the things that are yet to come:).

    http://www.gog.com/en/support/website_help/website_and_accounts

So in other words, the stuff you buy is tied to an account - but not in the sense of steam where you must use their system to download and play the games.

Yeah the Dell u2312HM monitors sure are fantastic. I have had since may and while at first the anti glare coating really bothered me, I hardly notice it anymore :D

It also has one of the best stands I have ever seen on a monitor before (I am used to those crappy stands that are hardly strong enough to support the monitor!) and it can rotate into portrait mode :D

Oh and the USB hub built into the monitor is such a useful feature. It really does minimize desk clutter a lot

Guys - can anyone help me with the script for creating builds. It used to work for me but now I've no idea whats going on.

I've scrolled down and got the latest script - the one that makes the nice table.
I've created a bookmark in Opera (and tried in Chrome) where I paste the script in to URL or Address
I've go to my basket (not loged in) on Hardwareversand and click the book mark.

It puts a dark square over part of my basket but puts nothing in the clipboard.

If I try and run it on a different website it tells me I can't tun it on that website so part of its working.
If I try and run it on the 'home screen' of hardwareversand it asks me if I want to go to the basket.

    Any ideas please?

    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried a different browser? You're doing exactly what I'm doing except I'm doing it in Chrome and it works fine for me.

Yep tried in Chrome and Opera

Are you going to get it? I'm kinda tempted by the upgrade offer of 39 euro's but, I don't know. I don't really like this metro crap. I'm a minimalist when it comes to my desktop.

It doesn't actually put anything into your clipboard* if it's putting the black square over the page it's working most of the way. I'm not aware of any changes to hwvs basket page so there is no reason for it to suddenly stop working.

Maybe try it on dabs, komplett or scan to see does it work on another site.

*This would be very cool, unfortunately JavaScript needs to be given explicit access to your clipboard to do it. So if I added this ability then everytime you ran the script you would get a popup asking do you give it permission to access the clipboard.

The latest script is in the first post. Make sure you copy the lot of it - not just part of it. It works fine in opera.

Looks a bit 'meh'. I think I'll wait until a Service Pack when they realised the metro was a bit of a disaster for desktops, and they patch in extra options to return it to normal. :pac:

There's one or two new features that are improved - most notably the copy system - but not worth upgrading from 7, I think. I'm not sure I'd even go for it on a new system where the choice is 7 or 8.

7 was a quite a well done OS and didn't need waiting for service packs as it was pretty much a very cleaned up Vista.

8 undoubtedly needs some revision as it's not even natural to use aside from getting used to the interface.

@Monotype - I was trying that one aswell but given Fluffy's post I think I'm doing something stupid.

@Fluffy - sorry to ask such a dumb question but how do I get the output?

€40 from CeX second hand with a 1 year guarantee. Around the same / a bit less on adverts.ie (with haggling) with no guarantee.

HDDs are something I'd never buy second hand :P

I suppose it comes down to what you want to use it for. If it's less than half the price of a new one who cares if it goes pop in a year. Personally I've never had one go on me.

You've also never had the joy of running undelete on one and seeing what you find :D

EDIT: Can anyone tell me how I get an output from the script for builds please? My lack of brain is annoying me!
