Language Waiver due to Exemption from Irish?

You will need a second language - French, German, Spanish and Italian being the most common for students form Ireland.

Matriculation requirements:

To be considered for admission to the University you must:

*Present six subjects, three of which must be at grade C or above on higher Leaving Certificate papers or at least grade C in the University Matriculation examination

The six subjects above must include:

*A pass in English
*A pass in mathematics and a pass in a language other than English

OR

*a pass in Latin and a pass in a subject other than a language

You MUST have two languages to get in (unless you have Latin)

Note the exemption is granted from the leaving cert requirement.

Trinity/University of Dublin is unique in that it has NEVER required a pass in Irish (except where the course requires), English + some other language. So the exemption you have is of no importance unless you want to go to UCD for instance where Irish is a mandatory requirement (i.e. if taken at leaving cert level you must pass Irish)
