West Ham would be the best place for Carroll if he does go on loan.

Playing in a system that plays to his strengths and he could move in with Kevin Nolan again.

That's the thing though - what happens when he returns to Liverpool, a club that won't be playing to his strengths? If anyone is offering £15m+ we should take the money and forgot this deal ever happened.

That they haven't bought him and LFC still had to pay a lot of his wages.

They were never going to buy him and we paid a lot less of his wages then if we decided to keep him.

Suso looks good, not ready for fist team yet, but they would be nuts not to offer him a good contract straight away.

They can have Carroll, if I can have my Cisse here :(

Ah no but seriously, Newcastle can **** off outta here with this loan malark.

I've been searching for the quotes online where brendan says he wants to get rid of him... anyone know where they are?

God I really hope Lucas comes back stronger and better than ever. Would be such a shame for him to put in all that effort improving his game for something like this to set him back now. If he is the same player as he was before his injury does anybody else see him as a potential future captain/vice captain of Liverpool?

I think you'll find it difficult to find anything concrete.

I've been as guilty as anyone of jumping the gun on this.

I think I might invest in a shock collar that keeps me away from football forums during the transfer season. :o

Pretty sure he never said he wanted rid of him. Just hinted very strongly at it.

Been saying this for at least two years now and my old housemate during that time, (also a fellow red) laughed it off.

Also, Malaga are apparently looking to offload Isco and Cazorla. Even if it goes no further, I'd expect the club to make enquiries. 2 excellent players.

I would be amazed if they got rid of Cazorla.

Don't know much about Isco but why would they get rid of Cazorla? Is he not their best player? Would be so excited if we could somehow get him, but I would highly doubt it

    Any source for that GK?

Cazorla most people know about at this stage, and I'd happily have him here. Likewise Isco, he's one very exciting young player.

Liverpool turn down Newcastle's offer to loan Andy Carroll #mufc #lfc

Now....don't shoot the messenger, this is a rumours and gossip thread after all, but this has appeared on Twitter, and in fairness there have been some rumours about Strootman already this year.
    Arnaldo Ferreira ‏@ArnaldoFLance
Liverpool agree a £27million fee to sign PSV duo Strootman & Mertens. Both flying to England tomorrow for medicals e discuss personal terms.

With a deal for Carroll potentially on the cards, then would Mertens be a worthwhile replacement? We all know that scoring in Holland doesn't necessarily guarantee success elsewhere. Strootman could come in and provide a partner for Lucas, as well as decent cover if Lucas was slow coming back, injured or not up to his recently set high standards.

Fee does seem high, wasn't it about 13 million that they moved for last year as a job lot deal? You'd have to assume that if that figure was correct then there are people on the way out to help fund it.

SSN saying Newcastle make an offer for Andy Carroll on loan with view to permanent move

Taking him on loan "with a view" to a permanent move is a complete joke in this situation, it's not like they need to find out what kind of player/person he is before commiting to permanent deal!!

Mertens who cost Cahill his place at the Euros?

i think there are serious question marks about the validity of that twitter account, he has just said we have signed dempsey for 11 million too

Ah yeah totally, but I posted it more to see what people would think "if" something like that were to happen tbh.

And yes, thats the Mertens alright

Couldn't agree more & not a hope in hell they would buy him back unless on the cheap but as a previous post from a Newcastle fan saying they could lose players to the ACON so that alone should say they only want him for a season
Glad to see we have turned down the offer

Congrats to Suso, Spain win the U21 Euros again. He started every game, and although he was subbed off in most games, he looked entirely well suited to their possession and simple passing game. Takes a decent free kick too.

I knew I saw something relating to Mertens and Liverpool earlier but I couldn't find anything elsewhere.

I've mentioned Mertens in the past on here. He's my number choice for LW if we are in the market for one. Direct, , intelligent, quite skillful, quick with the ball (not out and out pace if you get me but quick enough) and a very good finisher to boot. Right in the prime of his career too.

Strootman has been linked with a number of clubs recently including Inter Milan, United amongst one or two others. Someone who should have started at the Euros for the national team. He'd be someone who compliment Lucas really well IMO, be it beside him in a 4-2-3-1 or just ahead of him in a Rodgers' 4-3-3. Really would be the time now to make a move for him because another season at PSV, he'll be going to one of the clubs I mentioned surely next summer, if not this summer.

    Translated as:
Debts drown at Malaga, which could lose the option of playing in Europe and even if not facing down payments owed. Sheikh Al Thani, owner of the Andalusian club, has no intention of paying out of pocket after an investment of 150 million, so that his intention is to sell players to get the money.

Mundo Deportivo are a bit sensationalist, albeit less so than Marca that's for sure. Carzola and Isco would certainly be their most prized assets though if they are selling.

Had seen him linked with Utd alright, but nothing concrete. I'd say if we make a move, then it might shake a few others into action.

As for Mertens, just checked and he scored 21 last season. Him on the left, Borini through the middle and Luis on the right of a front 3 would be a nice prospect. There'd be goals in that lineup for sure.
