Songs about places

Can't drive that road without listening to it :P

I've always been mad into trad, and I'm also from Ballyfun, but no matter how much research (googling) I've done I've never been able to work out why this song is called .....



Can anyone enlighten me please?

I always thought this was just a poppy one hit wonder that sounded nice but then I found out years later it was quite political about the Brixton riots.

Then (the amateur historian in me) found out it's about an actual place, the first street to be electrified in London.

As songs about places go this is ground zero, the internet doesn't work withouth electricity according to the Dell helpline, which I'm now barred from - YaY.
