    Hi all,

My wife and I, mid 30s, would like to go away at the end of October for a week. We are considering Croatia. We are not party animals and would prefer somewhere with a bit of culture, good food, friendly people, nice restaurants etc. What would the weather be like at that time of year? Would we be better off hiring a car or is it not necessary? Where is the best place to stay?

    Cheers in advance :D

they are sort of shut for the winter season at that stage, while you would probably get good enough hotel rates its going to be pretty dead. Weather is similar to ireland at that time of year. Things to do in croatia are pretty lacking when you don't have the weather so i'd advise against it and consider it another time of year. Aerlingus stop going there end of october too. Think you'd be better off going to cyprus or malta for some sun.

If your set on croatia then I guess split would be the best option as its croatias second cityand restaurants would still be open for people that live there. I doubt youll find anyone here that has been that time of year for the reasons I've said. September is still a nice time to visit but I think end of october is too far into the off season.
A friend of mine lives in split for the last 6 years, I can ask them if you'd like

I was in Dubrovnik in November two years ago. I really liked it. I've also been there in June and it was so overcrowded. You didn't hear any Croatian accents, only American and Japanese. The place was packed.

Then in November it was chilled out, could get a cheap hotel - almost had the hotel to ourselves! Hotel pool was closed, but other than that the place was great and the weather was nice.
