DayZ Zombie Mod for Arma 2

The crossbow is actually pretty nifty if you have a few bolts to use (also if Crosshairs are turned on, the ironsights are sh!t). Easy enough to do a Daryl from Walking Dead by killing, reclaiming bolt, killing again, reclaiming bolt etc. All in stealthy goodness too

Don't know if its been posted in this thread already but this is the map i use: http://dayzdb.com/map#3.065.126 Its good, it shows all loot locations and their value as well. Is that Boards camp that was at or near the NW airfield still there?

Can you get the bolt back of the dead Z's? ppl?

Yeah, but you actually have to look at the bolt itself and use the context menu, not loot the Zed. Took me a while to figure out.

Think of it like this, shoot a bolt into a wall, can you loot a wall? No you have to loot the bolt itself.

can i fill a fuel can with a broken leg? or an I just doing it wrong, there no "fill can" menu option when i get to the big fuel containers.

so here i am 2 empty jerry cans a jeep a hatchet and a broken leg.. anyone near Balota wanna fix me for a free ride of course..

Pretty sure you can use SD in normal and vice versa.
Use the context menu to load different ammo.

Some useful info at last! I suspected as much.
I wasted 3 mags on Zs in a church and they just kept coming. Then I swapped over to a 1911 and went through 2 mags with much the same result, so what about the 1911, it's a great gun, but seems to pull them in almost as much as the AK.

In the past, I have gathered zeds and gone looking for a player. The reason; after getting shot by bandits just after spawning, I now get a few zeds, so if someone shoots them, my undead army will go after them :P

Yep same! It's as easy to lose 10 zeds as one, I ran for electro to cherno last night with zombies keeping me company all the way, ducked through that big orange house on the outskirts, slowed my sprint and lost them.

Had to run back to elecro after gearing up because my mate needed a transfusion, same story, lost them in the supermarket before going to the flats to heal my buddy, who had disconnected with due to low blood.
I personally don't think it's a bad thing to log out when you are waiting for a heal and semi conscious.

We both found a ghillie suits last night too, mine in cherno, his in electro, man those things are insane, you are effectively invisible at 10 metres. Just need a compass and I'm not going near the towns for the foreseeable future.

Ok so after a very hard first night in Chernarus I was feeling a bit dismayed by the constant dying at the hands of the Zeds. I did manage to get into a stride but I was quickly put back in my box when I died of thirst.

Day 2 however was a completely different experience altogether. 2 friends who I convinced to buy the game came with me this time and it was one of the best gaming experiences of my life.

I don't want to bore everyone with the play by play but we started out struggling as usual, trying to meet up but one of us usually got into some sort of trouble but our luck changed when we finally grouped and decided to search the Power plant outside of Elektro.

We were rewarded with an AK74-Kobra, a makarov and some ammo and supplies. At this stage we were running low on food so we decided we were desperate so we headed for the Supermarket on the edge of town.

We made our way inside avoiding the Zeds as you do and when we got inside the amount of loot available got the better of us and we got careless. As I was searching the front of the shop, a burst of rounds rang out and broke a window above me. "****, I think we're taking fire!" rang out on vent. So we all hit the ground, trying to figure out where exactly our attacker was.

More rounds rang out, two sets; an automatic weapon and some form of rifle. "Don't move I don't think they can see us" was swiftly followed up by "****, i'm hit, i'm bleeding out!!!". Panic set in, were we going to loose the only bit of progress we had made in hours of play? "Just go, run for it, take my stuff and go i'm low on blood here" with that a heroic CosmicCaravan got to his feet and sprinted out the front door of the supermarket. So the remaining two of us, grabbed his gear and legged it out the back door.

We managed to make it to the tree line before being informed he was dead. A noble and heroic deed. Our first run in with Survivors, it was tense as fuck and we loved it!!

The rest of the night just got better and better, we found a water bottle and headed north to a lake. From there we followed a dirt road further north but decided best to stay in cover which led us to find a tent surrounded by barbed wire. Someones camp which was FULL of tasty gear. An AK, a lee enfield, blood bags, morphine, lots of ammo, bandages, painkillers and food. We just cleaned out some poor guy but hey it was survival and that's what we had to do.

We headed further north, found a castle with even more tasty loot. Got the supplies needed to gut and cook animals and enough medical supplies to last us days. The final incident whioch took place around 3am just topped off an amazing night of gaming. We were just outside Mtsa, cooking our second meal of the night when we heard shots ring out.

"****, was that close?" another round of fire, this time much closer. "Sh1t, sh1t put out the fire quick!". We put the fire out and hit the ground, next thing what we assumed was a god damn grenade goes off right in front of us. "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaat the fuuuuuuuck, RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN". No way I had enough of running away, I jumped up and rambo'd through the tree line running like a mad man, again shots rang out but they missed. That's when I spotted him, lying prone in the field. I took aim with my AK74 and put out a burst of spray followed by another, moving closer.

Nothing, no sound, no shots, silence. "Lads, I think I got him". As I ran over to inspect the body, I hear "Yeah not before he got me first". Caravan for the second time that night had taken hits and was bleeding out fast. Thankfully this time we had the supplies needed to patch him up and get on our way, not before looting even more supples from our attacker. An M4, and an alice pack filled with goodies. We decided to call it a night at 4am, logging out in the safety of the trees.

Honestly probably the funniest, craziest, scariest and most intense night of gaming I've ever experienced. This game is simply amazing!!!
